Had a pretty bad-ass experience at that Giants/Cards game - got to go in the Giants dugout and out on the field to help the groundscrew replace 2nd base. And I got to keep the 2nd base I took off the field. So amazing
We had a box through my mother-in-laws work - basically the guy they sell a ton of their wine too for distribution. And I guess with the box comes a Giants "experience" and so the guy asked my mother-in-law who the biggest Giants fan was and she said me. It was nuts.

My first spring training game today. We have SF Giant spring season tickets. We're not Giant fans; it's a social thing. They will be terrible this year. Their actual first home game was on Saturday, but I sold those tickets. They have tiered pricing: 16 home games - five premium; seven medium; four cheap. I have first row seats right at third base. The premium games cost $80/ticket. Absolutely ridiculous for spring games. What's even more ridiculous is that I sell all five premium games on StubHub for $130/ticket. Four already sold; one to go.
Sales expectations. So, e,g,, Dodger and Cub games tend to be premium games. Dodgers, Cubs, and Giants have the biggest fan bases as Spring Training (in AZ). Friday night games tend to be premium and some weekend games.

they're looking at possible plans to do a summer school for everybody in July/August though
of course they're also working on distance learning plans for if they can't start up in the fall so really it's just planning out for all the contingencies I think

My aunt in the Czech republic is doing her her teaching with a grade one kids online And its not so easy, With older kids it’s probably easier to give them work to Do independently but yeah I don’t know how it even works with younger kids
North Texas is doing everything on google classroom. My kids 8th grade and 5th grade get weekly assignments on Sunday, due on Friday. It’s a complete pass/fail system now.
Schools are closed until may 4, but i doubt they go back since the year ends before Memorial Day

MLB had two All-Star games each year from 1959-62. Came up in a biography of Yogi Berra I’m listening to. First time I’ve ever come across that tidbit (that I remember).

In 1960, they were played two days apart. In 1961 and 1962, they were played 20 days apart. They all took place in different stadiums, and one of them - the second game in 1961 - ended in a 1-1 tie.”

I hope they relocate, either way need it figured out ASAP because them and Tampa are holding up expanding to 32 teams.
While MLB has been loath to expand, multiple cities have publicly expressed interest in a franchise. The likeliest possibility if the A's do pursue relocation would be Las Vegas, which has found success with the Raiders and the NHL's Golden Knights, but commissioner Rob Manfred has in the past also cited Portland, Vancouver, Nashville, Charlotte and Montreal as potential expansion sites for franchises.

as a complete outsider, I like the new C logo, the guardians wordmark, but the flying G on the baseball just doesn't seem to fit... the name guardians is a bit ho hum, and for a link back to history the Spiders or Bluebirds would've been a nice nod

We have a stud OF that made it to AAA this year. He's like a top 25 MLB prospect. They got a lot of promising guys at the deadline sell off and when they traded Darvish. But they're all low A guys. So it's going to be awhile. Doesn't matter since they haven't developed a starting pitcher since what, Mark Prior?

.290 batting average, 411 homers, 1216 RBI's, 445 stolen bases before the steroid era began.
It'd be interesting if the writers had some personal stake in voting for the best players. Maybe put each writers players on an ootp team (adding average players to fill in empty spots) then run a few thousand sims of all the teams playing each other. You finish in the top half you get to vote again next time. The players get votes equal to number of times picked.

i feel for all of the 4 guys on that list who were last ballot... they likely would've been HoF (barring injuries) without the PEDs, but some poor decisions have led to this outcome... yes, it sets a standard for the current and future generations, but no one has ever been removed from the HoF right? if everyone is up and arms about PEDs/roids, why not remove any of the guys from the HoF who have been known/heavily suspected to take them.. am sure there's some

It's definitely a popularity contest at this point. HOF needs to reevaluate the process because I don't know if keeping ARod, Bonds, Clemens and other guys out is going to stand the test of time in the social world we live in. Just hurts their credibility.
I am jaded around athletes since I've worked in professional sports. Gambling on any of them as upstanding citizens is a bet I'd never take so I just judge them based on what they do on the field and forget the rest

Vizquel had something like 11 GGs and put up over 60 WAR if I remember. MI guys along with pen arms like Wagner have such a tough road to get in.

Great end of the season. Tigers collapse to the wildcard. Mets collapse all the way out of the playoffs. Yankees finish the season winning 8 straight but can’t overtake the Jays. Mariners win their first division since 2001. Astros miss the playoffs for the first time in nearly 10 years.
