With the previous renaming of the afblgeneral and commishnews (Slack's default general channel), I had to archive the previous afbl_general/general channel. Good news is that the Slack-RC bridge is working in both directions.
Yes that is the only reason we might be able to make the switch. We'll keep testing this week and see how things go.
If anyone else would like to help test out Rocket.Chat beyond those that have previously, just let me know and I'll add you. The hope would be to get rid of the Forum and make Rocket.Chat be the hub (with Slack staying around while there isn't an official StatsPlus integration).
Current URL is chat.afblbaseball.com and is viewable in a preview mode until I create and send credentials to you.
how thorough is preview mode? good enough that a potential new member could poke around and see how things run?
ya looks like when that url is accessed without being logged in, the user can see the Home page (with all of the links and next sim info etc) plus the channels/threads
I really like that you can have more than 1 channel as a read-only like we were limited to in Slack. RC offers "Read-Only" and "Broadcast" channels where with Broadcasts non-admins can respond to the post in a thread. Along with the Announcement banner feature for each room.
Still debating on whether to add the new channels in RC like for FA claims, MVPs, and such over in Slack or what the flow/process would be.
If we have both apps, I’d probably just mirror channels 100% then people can use the app of their choice (although idk if DMs will go both places)
Not sure on DMs working with the mirror. Something curious about as well. Adding the RocketChatBot app to the channel is what triggers the API and such.
Yeah that's what I want to test. Either have everything mirrored in both RC and Slack or only keep the channels we need for StatsPlus on Slack side.
Ha nothing really right now. If you're curious, check out chat.afblbaseball.com and if you want to help test it out, I can add you.
Oh I’m starting a dynasty on the ootp boards about a John Tudor-based multiverse. I started two random debut leagues and have them paused on draft day where he’s available in the draft class (like one is in the 50s, I forget the other one), then I’ll get the 1985 actual Tudor and the Tudor from 1989 whose World Series ring helps transport him around the timelines. lmao
Oof. Get hot and win 10 of 11 and down go two OFs including my best bat
We also now have a worse record than last sim tie for first in the PL North. Someone has to win that division haha.
NC keeps rolling along. This is the best team I’ve ever had even though I could stand to improve my SPs. For the looks of it, good SPs are rare in the league though so I’m not too concerned. Until the injuries come around at least.
four game skid in oregon, three of them due to the bullpen. We’re partying like it’s 2046 this week
Not sure of the exact number b/c there might be double plays etc but we hit at least .400 this sim
NM hitting pretty well so far, but not with the power I expected. We hit 11 homers in the five games this sim so maybe it’s picking up a bit.
Wow missed that Washington is back up to .500 so the FL West has all 5 teams at or above .500 currently
Ya I wish it was possible to tell a pitcher to give up that pitch with like under a 3 rating haha
A third OF went down at the end of the sim. Looks like developmentally trashed former #1 pick Jorge Gonzalez is getting his MLB debut tomorrow
My goal for all of this testing and potential changes is to make things easier for everyone while getting rid of the need for the Forum. I think we've found a solution with RC preserving our message history and such.
honestly I think we can even function successfully if everybody uses Slack but rocket chat is there for an archive
@AFBL Commish do you want me to post FA claims in the channel the next few days to test it out?
Yeah if you want to double post, I wouldn't mind to have someone as a test poster. Weird talking to yourself through multiple accounts sometimes haha.
Long term storage stuff like Postseason MVPs, Team MVPs, Traded Picks, etc. might just live over in RC. Still need to do some testing for that stuff.
Anyone that's catching up and is curious.. chat.afblbaseball.com is the location for RC (Rocket.Chat). If you want to help test and play around there, let me know.
I'll edit it to match Slack. I wasn't sure if that'd break anything but I guess it won't :D.
Well we wound up winning 4 of our last 5 this sim (although lost the first two) so at least things look to be pointing in the right direction
Yup our FL West is still crazy with all 5 teams staying at/above 500
New Jersey 1B Pat Hatfied hit his 300th homer this sim @mikenewjersey
I agree. I immediately asked Dave how to add it when he posted haha.
We are gaining Richard Hager from @mikenewjersey's SBC/VBL. He'll be a great fit!
Woohoo welcome @Richard Hager. Glad to have you on board. It'll be good to have another SBC member and plus in Mike's division 😉.
NJ rules the PL North.. stay away
No one really rules the PL North right now with the division leaders below .500 😉
Don’t do it I keep telling myself. Given up too much already. But Bob McCrary has gone .449/.531/.957 with ten home runs in 19 games since joining Orlando. Gave up a lot but he looks promising and should eventually fill Sean Butler’s spot.
Jude O’Neill has been good in relief and Lopez should give us some slugging that has been missing from other players this year.
We’ve been horrible in one-run games so far. Everybody else in the division has been good to great.
I’m unwilling to break the bank for a big upgrade. Barring a major injury, either the horses we have in Oregon get us into the playoffs or they don’t.
Reports pages should now have the Personality section on them (got unchecked or something)
Crazy how good Ned Haas was in our league's beginning. He was Most Valuable Pitcher in the FL for the league's first 4 years! https://statsplus.net/afbl/player/1232?page=pitch @yuda
5/6/9 ratings at retirement, but that knuckleball was still rated an 8 so I don’t think the other pitches would have mattered much
and he was selected in the 3rd round of the inaugural draft, which means everybody else passed on him twice
I was very surprised to see that my centerfielder wasn’t running away with the All-Star vote
I feel like I've tried to RTS the All-Star Game before but it didn't work. I'm curious now and will try tonight too 🙂.
I voted for almost all of my position players for the all-star team while sticking to my personal rules for voting (basically I only allow myself to homer vote if my player is in the top 3 OPS at their position). My SS and RF were the only two guys I didn’t vote for.
I vote for the highest WRC+ if my player isn’t a Reasonable choice, tho it depends on how fast I’m looking to get voting done lol
In fact I should vote for the worst players in the other league to sabotage their team
Like when the fans voted that scrub into the nhl all star game but the league wasn’t going to let him go but the fans got mad and he went and he had a hat trick

2047 All-Star Game completed. Simming to end of the break now. https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/box_scores/game_box_7221.html
Ah that’s too bad. Pretty good game. Nice to see the Danger contribute 😃
Actually refresh the link and it'll be the 2047 ASG. Not sure what year that ASG was from (last year maybe?) lol
we seem to run the same schedule every year I think so it would make sense that the ASG is the same game id every year
FL West race gets more tools added it appears. Gonna be a fun battle for sure.
I lost my catcher for 5 weeks and #1 starter for 2. Let’s see if Idaho can hang around...
Lost my best-performing SP, rookie Richter, for two weeks right before all star break. In rehab now. Seems to have lost a bit of potential unfortunately.
Since 2040 I have gone 28-4 against Oregon tho I did like my sweep of NJ
Matt, how are you 13 games over .500 with such a bad run differential? Haha
We suck at one-run games. And we lead the league, for the moment, in RD. I’m guessing one-run games are important. 😒
Trying to address that with all the trades but starting pitching has been very uneven. Room for growth still though so I don’t want to tinker with it.
Purpose pitches gone wild. Be nice if it was just one guy but it’s spread out amongst several.
Going to shake things up next sim. Bring up Cull to play third base and Eland for the bench. Roman going to AAA. He has had very good offense early last couple seasons but tails off...
Turd Newton has gone from a 1 rating at 1B in the off season to a 9 in 92 starts plus however many 1B starts he made in Spring training.
That’s with low adaptability so maybe adaptability isn’t what I think it is
If they have a good arm. Don’t have to have as good an arm to play well in LF/CF.
Leftfield should be the easiest position tho in OOTP think it range matters more
He had good infield glove and range ratings tho, so it was mainly a lack of experience
The defensive spectrum is as follows: DH - 1B - LF - RF - 3B - CF - 2B - SS. Generally speaking, the further to the right, the harder the position is to play and the harder it will be to convert a player to that position. -from the ootp manual
New OOTP version out. I have to update for my other leagues. It's not compatible with prior versions for on-line leagues
I'll grab any pending exports today before I update my OOTP myself. So not necessarily but you can re export if you want on the new patch.
Hopefully this would be fine. Believe I've handled emergency ootp updates like this previously. Would like to avoid postponing the sim.
I will download the new patch then update if that’s OK I have a lot of Sim directions for you
Hmmm osa scouting has not been accurate. That might explain a few things. 🙃
I've seen people talking about this other places. I haven't noticed it for us but I guess I haven't been looking specifically for it. PT probably broke it. Surprise surprise.
I’ve updated but my export/upload is from Saturday (before updating). Not sure when you are grabbing them so I’ll just leave it.
I'll be grabbing pending pre-patch exports in the next 15-30 minutes.
Any new exports after this will need to made after you've patches your OOTP20 install with today's patch.
Looked at things quickly but didn’t notice any obvious changes to ratings 🤷♂️ not like I had them memorized though.
Looks like my posting isn’t very accurate. Meant to reply to previous post.
Looks like the patch directly addresses that OSA scouting bug per the OOTP forums and the StatsPlus slack
https://twitter.com/ootpbaseball/status/1219280543528996864
Anyone have an issue downloading the new patch? I get a 404 error on the esellerate link
Hmm didn't have issues earlier. Do they have more than 1 download mirror? If not, I can upload mine
It’s weird. Every file I try and grab I get a 404. Like my cpu is blocking it somehow. If you don’t mind uploading the esellerate exe that would be amazing
Try this @jeheinz72 https://www.matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/downloads/ootp20setup_esellerate.exe
Both him and Romero in Bears uniforms too 😉
Albuquerque (AA) has had a rough year so far but this last week they were 4-2 and outscored opponents 86-30.
North Carolina has been pretty average the last few sims. Seem to be playing .500 baseball right now. 10-8 in July, 5-5 last 10. I'm not too worried though, I'd rather get hot in October. 🙂
3-3 sim for the Bears keeps Colorado 2 back of division lead but still as the WC2 by a few games.
For sure and I still think Washington can make a run too lol. It will be a fun race.
I've got enough kid stuff going on that I have to admit I'm contemplating quitting for several seasons
13 and 11 I am running out of patience for the attitude
I told the 13 year old I have kept a spreadsheet of everything he costs me and will hand it to him when I boot him. He can pay me back over the next 20 years
right now I just hope the 5 year old matures into the good period his sister is in before she becomes a teenager
the attitudes are really starting to show with our 2.5 y/o twins lol
lol. your day is coming... enjoy the next 10 years.
the older kid is also a giant. he is 13 and 6' 160. he is a soccer goalie and plays basketball and football
jake is also afraid of his own shadow. at this point I would be shocked if he played football.
it is scary. my older son has had 2 - but he got the first one playing basketball
i will say there is something really cool about seeing your kid put the helmet on and hit someone. lol
a kid I went to high school with had a terrible concussion playing baseball from a home plate collision (he was the baserunner)
and he wasn't a football player. for him that meant baseball and basketball
Indiana and Texas have 3 strike rules in place now. If you have 3 documented concussions they can ban you from sports
but for as far as we have come, when Brendan got his concussion last year they sent him to the high school trainer who called it a 'head injury' until my wife and I insisted he see a specialist...
we knew a girl back in Lafayette, IN whose family lives on a gold course. she went onto their back patio and got struck in the head by a wayward golf ball and had symptoms for 18 months or more
and I sometimes wondered about stray golf balls with those houses right on the course. sad to hear somebody got a head injury (I'd more imagined broken windows)
horrible luck really. my uncle has a place in hilton head island on the course and they don't get a lot of balls to their property, but they get some gators...
me and my sister were just hell for our parents when my sister turned 14 me 17 and didn’t get better till I finally started working full time 2 years later
hey @AFBL Commish - the full league file linked from the forums doesn't seem to exist anymore
also evidently my rookie league team has already been eliminated from the playoffs
NM plodding along, 12-12 in July/August. On a brighter note, the NM organization won 4 of the 5 July Pitcher of the Month awards. On a much darker note, Bob McCrary who was lighting up rookie league and was just promoted to A, is out for 5 months.
Same if not worse this sim for the Bears as now they're toed with Oregon.
Hey, it shows me missing two uploads, but I've turned in both times. No biggie for results but need to solve it
Hey @tjsmith7_georgia did you update your OOTP20 to the newest patch? You'll need to grab v20.8.74 https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/showthread.php?t=309670
I had not patched, missed notice. Tonight's upload is in, let me know if there is any issue
FL West is still hilarious. Not sure I've seen a 5th place team with a .525 Win% before haha.
man the injury proneness is odd. Jorge Reyes missed 2 weeks this year, the first injury time in 5 seasons and no he is fragile
One thing NM has going for it is youth. Still second youngest team with room to develop.
Our players have their walkers out on the field with them
next 2 sims are huge for Idaho. next sim 3 oregon and 2 washington. following sim, 1 washington and 3 colorado
We’ve got three against kentucky and three against Colorado next sim
Kind of pulling for all the West teams to end up at least 10 games over .500 by the end of the year
Washington is 6 games over .500 now in fifth place. So it looks like a good possibility. Don’t think it’s happened before.
Nightmare sim for the Bears 0-6 and now in last place in the crazy FL West plus 2.5 back of the Wildcard.
I have 5 pitchers injured (3 starters) my starting catcher and shortstop. Fun times
look for 2041 8th round pick Tim Henson to start a game tonight as Idaho scrambles to stay in the race
Ok that gives me time to do my Solo league Dynasty video will export around then
NM pitching had a good sim allowing 10 runs in 6 games. Only loss 2-1 to Kentucky’s Colon and Mulder.
NC is promoting 6'7" 19-year-old Hyotaru Takahashi for the next sim, trying to find some young pitching options.
NC has had a bad August but still sits on top of the South with a 6 game lead, so I guess everyone chasing me has had a bad month too.
Turd Newton is crushing the ball right now. In 122 games he has 15 more hits than he had in 144 games last year. He already has a career high in doubles (33) and is 2 HR shy of a new career high. 7.7 WAR right now.
We are having a weird season. Honestly 72-54 is shocking. Antonio morales (2b) is really the only guy having close to a career season but he has had 2 others at this level.
In good news mal Cantrell has caught some fire and has been quite productive for us. 0.8 WAR in 36 starts - which would be second bast career mark at the afbl level.
Carmichael's 250 wins is actually 4th most in the league... He's 42 so he won't be the first to reach 300
250 is impressive. I have one guy, Jim Fish, who got 204 and 33 year old Juan Guevara is around 155 so he has a shot at 200.
How do International Amateurs work? I thought I read they were included in the draft pool but I don;t see (e.g.) Luis Morales in the draft pool.
Correct. We just add the International FAs to the available players for our Draft.
Although you’ll still get random-discovery int’l amateurs through the season signed to your international complex
Yeah I feel like a very high percentage of star players were international finds, but I guess you wouldn’t go to the trouble of importing them if they weren’t really good
Some of Oregon’s best players (and presumably everybody) came via that route
NM has three-game series against Washington next sim. Got swept last meeting. Hope we do better this time. 🙃
We get our DH back and lose the starting 2B. I shouldn't really complain, been pretty healthy overall. But the timing is still annoying.
6-0 sim. Swept WV which we NEVER do. Feeling good down the stretch, as long as nobody else gets hurt
@chappy you have the lowest strength of schedule too. That should add to the good feeling. 😁 Anyone know how the xSoS is calculated? Does it use the simulation winning percentages and average them?
it’s based on something like third-order expected wins based on the components of runs created or something
the real question down the stretch is whether Washington can pull off that WC2 spot and keep an absentee owner out of the playoffs
I have to figure out how idaho can go 12-11 in the final 23 with most of the games on the road
Yeah wow @lt - Idaho last four series you’ve got Kentucky, Washington, Colorado and NM to close out the season.
Sounds very doable barring the-slump-that-never-was-but-yet-might-happen-still-maybe-next-year...
its doable, but its def a rough finish. need to have a good sim tonight.
I feel like I need Idaho to stumble because relatively speaking Washington has a cupcake schedule.
I got 3 home versus Texas. Obviously i need 2 wins there, but a sweep would go a long way towards a playoff birth. Hoping for a split in ontario...
3 at home vs Illinois. Need at least 2 of those. And then two at New Jersey. Not going to hope for a sweep on the road, but I absolutely have to split. And then two in NY (bleeding into next sim); same story there.
I notice we’re done with Colorado. But all of my remaining series with the other playoff contenders are at home. 3 each vs. Idaho, Kentucky, New Mexico, Washington over the last 2 weeks
3 texas, 2 on, 2 PA. 5-2 puts me in good shape, 4-3 is ok. any less and I think it will start getting interesting
exactly. but this is the easiest stretch I have left. so I need to rack up wins
if I get 5 of the next 7, then I really only need 1 win per series in the last 6 series to make it tough on the chasers
Alfredo Cabrera is 1-1, 2.11 in his last 3. It would be very helpful if he remembers how to pitch down the stretch.
and you are so right about Washingtons sched... he should make a strong push
I’d accept a fifth cy young award for Mendoza a reasonable consolation prize
based on those percentages alone, I should expect to win 12-13 out of my last 23, but obviously that doesn’t account for the schedule
(although statsplus has us averaging 13-10 over that stretch, so not a bad estimate I guess)
our saving grace is that we are currently 37-30 away from home. I have a weird team
Colorado has: KY, @OH, @ON, @WA, @IL, @IN, NM, @ID, @CA to finish the season
I can't believe the sim generator has Georgia winning 21 in one run. doesnt make a lot of sense...
I dunno. I think baseball is probably the major U.S. sport that has the most competitive balance from the top to bottom of the league most years
They are 59-80. Just doesn’t seem like they can win 33% of the total wins to date in the last 23 games
outside of that stretch, we were like a .450 team. But we made the playoffs because of it.
That kind of run would sure mess a ton of shit up in our division. Would be fun
I could conceivably lose all the rest of my games and still make the playoffs
The west is still crazy. Last place = 2 games out of the wild card.
Turd Newton continues to be hot. 23 games left and he already has career highs in Runs (120), 2B (34), HR (33), RBI (101). Plus he's hitting 55 points above his career batting average and his WAR is up to 8.5 (previous career best was 6.6).
NM 17-4 since a six-game losing streak in mid August. Three of those four losses by 1 run.
Idaho has a batters WAR high of 4.2 and pitching 3.0 - like I said weird year for us
Second year CF J. Rodríguez had a good sim : 17 AB, 10 H, 5 HR, 9 RBI, .588 AVG, 2.118 OPS
Bears are definitely done unless they can run off a long win streak plus get some help
Since I boosted about having only 3 losses in August I have gone 7-11 😬 and good job Idaho got 2 wins in On
A sweep gives me a chance to catch you. I’m more focused on staying enough in the race that the 3-game series hosting Washington I close with is meaningful.
But this particular sim is the last time I face a team with a losing record (Texas)
1 game against them the beginning of next sim, but the point remains. The last 9 games are against very strong teams.
I’d say that’s the nature of being in the best division but somehow Washington lucked into an easier close.
agreed. it just seems like Washington played a lot of interdiv games early and now is getting the other league which is in a coma this year
That was key. We have all our home games left this sim versus red hot Washington and Colorado.
I think my best hope is for a sweep (either way) in the Idaho/Washington series
I’m getting an export in this morning, which will be my last one until next Monday morning. (Maybe Sunday evening if travel goes smoothly)
Crazy season. Crazy finish coming up.
Time to shut down the starters in NC. Smaller roster will make that a tad tougher
Final games still have some playoff seeding to be decided:
I guess we caught a break that Wash and Oregon play each other...
And ID vs NM in final series. Plus NM has a big game against OR prior to their final series.
Indeed. Sets up for a great final sim. I plan to run it as a RTS.
Both NM and ID have locked up playoff spots though correct? I just looked at it quickly but I thought that’s what @lt - Idaho meant by catching a break.
Yes. If Oregon sweeps Washington then Washington ends at 91 wins. If Washington sweeps Oregon then Oregon max win total is 89
Oregon cannot win the division. Washington cannot win it outright - they can win in a tiebreaker.
there could also be a 3 way tie for the division.
Pitching went south in a bad 2-4 sim for NM.
Las Vegas leads 3 games to 1 over Raleigh in the AAA championship series. Probable next year NM starter McCormick (18-8) pitching game 5 for the Dons.
SS Steve Anderson is my first free agent signing to work his way through the minors and make the NM roster (due to injuries to Martinez and Battle).
https://twitter.com/geoffschwartz/status/1225110121740754944?s=21
Watching from the spot I saw all 3 games. Nothing like a beer and pub pretzels before 10am haha.
https://twitter.com/sportscenter/status/1225161344237940737?s=21
Ugh... since New Mexico and Idaho play anyways can we coin flip or something?
I cannot export until midday on Thursday. Sorry. Not home until then. Will post as soon as i have exported.
3rd consecutive 97-65 finish for NC... Team record 8th consecutive playoff appearance... 15th playoff appearance in the last 16 seasons.
Teimua Kiristopa posted the 8th 20-win season in Aviators history, just 4th Aviator to win 20 (Norberto Leon 4 times, Carmichael twice, Don Wilson and Kiristopa once each)...
Norman Cornell's 18-6 record 6th highest win % in franchise history (.750)
Jae-shin Hong ties franchise record 50 saves in a single season... Last done by Daryl Clark in 2018...
42-year-old SP Ron Carmichael tied his own team record for fewest walks per 9 IP (0.9)
He also set team records for OPS (1.010), WAR (9.6), Runs (139), Total Bases (391) this year, while his 226 hits were tied 2nd most.
Looks like we're waiting for: KY @Zach - KY, ON @x24rocks, MD @steve e, WV @claphamsa to start the playoffs.
I'll get the Ammy Draft setup plus Season Awards and HOF Voting enabled today too.
I’ll export tonight. I apologize I’ve missed a few sims, crazy busy at work right now. Plus basketball season is winding down, I go straight to bed at night lol
Also this is the 3rd best pitching season ever behind my 2020 team and my 2036 team tho we walked ALOT more then those teams. It’s also my best Offensive team since 2018 tho We did offence completely differently that year
Virginia is the only team I beat more times than Maryland, and I actually have 2 good starting pitchers for the first time in a while, so watch this be the year I get swept in the opening round.
Another verbal assault from the NC GM. I see you @chappy
If @steve e is ready tonight, we'll start the playoffs tonight. If not, we'll get started tomorrow.
Finishing up getting the Ammy Draft ready now and will have voting enabled soon.
My teams that have the most question marks always seem to do the best in the postseason.
I want to export so I will do so when I get home from work
I have come back from down 3-0 so i don’t write anyone off yet. But i have never seen this before in this league
Yeah I'm not sure we've had all 4 WC series start 3-0. If so, it's been awhile.
And 3 of the 4 division winners are on the wrong end of 3-0. Wish I could have made that 4 of 4!
Any updates or safe to continue for Playoff Sim 2 KY @Zach - KY, MD @steve e, ON @x24rocks? NM said no changes and other 3 have new exports. Good luck whenever we run Sim 2 guys!
No changes from MD @steve e per Twitter. I'll try to start the sim before I get started with my Saturday.
Nicely pitched game by Les Richter. One out short of a complete game shutout.
Thanks Chappy I thought my starting pitching wouldn’t be nearly enough but pulled us through
Well thought it was over in game five but NM came back with 3 in the top of the ninth to win. 🤞
Wow a Game 7? I'm out and about but can run the sim whenever you guys are ready. Good luck!
I might want to change starter but need to see updated file first.
Awesome. Looks like @lt - Idaho said let it ride. I'll be able to start Game 7 soon. Good luck guys!
Hope it goes 18 innings.
we don't belong in the lcs but let's go Jeff Locke
I’ve done some weird stuff over the years, like all lefty lineup with all righty pitching staff. This season may have been the weirdest.
Aww junk game on. The idea of WV planning for us is kind of funny. Good luck. 👍
Good luck to the final four. Game 2s will start whenever the monsters are asleeps 😄.
Another crazy game. My 3/4 hitters are batting .088 and .107 so far in post season.
I have been force starting Nuijs at 2B for a bit now and he still has NO rating and had 11 errors in 33 starts in the regular season but he seems to be hitting
Like I just said to LT If we go through I’m just being set up to be swept
Ugh. Gonzalez gonna won reliever of the year has blown a couple tang his playoffs
If anyone misses StatsLab, I've found a way to get it up and running (still uses old PHP 🙃). Dave with StatsPlus has nearly everything StatsLab has now but there still are a few items that haven't gotten written for S+ like the Playoffs and Managers pages.
You can access with this URL: https://mstreeter06.website/ootp/afbl/statslab/ (I will have afblbaseball.com/statslab redirect there soon). Default password is baseball and please just log in with your name lol.
OK, winning one in ID is good. And pulled out game three in bottom of ninth.
Have exported and ready for games 4-6.
Will check out statslab later. Off to bed. Kudos to Parasite. Great movie!
WV trying to avoid the sweep by 81-81 MD.
This is correct in 2040
Looks like my go all lefty starter strategy isn’t working. Lol
I am shocked we won that game. But still don’t see the series going our way. Washington has been the best team for months and deserves this
I put in Rodriguez for no good reason and he hits 2 game winning home runs
Miracle run thus far... have a bad feeling about the series 😑
MD sent me instructions so we can start after StatsPlus updates. Good luck guys!
If no injuries Idaho is fine to continue. I will be out for the next 2 hours so just keep playing until it’s over unless there is a major decision to make
Congrats to ID for advancing.
My two top relievers choked in ninth inning in back to back games.
Wait 'til next year. 😫
No injuries. @lt - Idaho said to roll with it. Any changes for you @steve e?
Congrats to the Idaho Inevitables... I mean Steelheads. @lt - Idaho nice to see the Cup stay in the West 😃
I believe we found a WV replacement already via the StatsPlus Slack. Stay tuned!
What up guys. I, living in an eastern Kentucky holler 20 minutes from the WV state line, saw a team named the hollers and had to jump in
@AFBL Commish is the playoff MVP poll still on the forums? or has it been moved to statsplus
I'll put that up in Slack tonight hopefully. Postseason MVPs were one of the last things I need to get moved over from the Forum.
I plan for us to be officially done posting on the Forum starting with the upcoming 2048 season. I plan to keep it around for reference but plan to copy over most of our posts into Slack/RC.
I have to thank @jeffnewmexico for tanking the playoffs so NJ got the #13 pick in this draft to go along with #7 from our own tanking
although disappointed to see the guy I wanted next go inbetween NJs two picks
You’re welcome. @mikenewjersey nice to find a positive in a frustrating extra-inning game seven loss. 😃 reminds me of a recent extra-inning game 9 loss in the SBC finals.
Bob McCrary, the guy I traded for was having an awesome year after coming over. Then he got injured. Supposed to be future NM second baseman so I hope he recovers intact. @mikenewjersey
Remember to vote Leonardo Mendoza for PL pitcher award!
Is Statslab dead? Do we need the links for that on the statsplus player pages?
For StatsLab, we had left it but actually the developer (Frank) is working on updating it to work with PHP7+ and messaged me yesterday. We're a guinea pig with this pre-release version.
I have StatsLab back up for those that want to access it here: https://matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab (the location I posted a week or so ago is gone FYI). You will want to use baseball as the default password and then want to update.
I had asked to have it live on our StatsPlus hosting but that wasn't possible (or likely Dave didn't want it on there) so I've asked Dave to have the StatsPlus player pages link to where our StatsLab is now hosted on my personal domain.
😄 yes indeed. Most of the stuff has been moved over to StatsPlus but not everything.
I always like all the historical stuff on statslab.
I'm working on getting our posted AFBL Rules page updated as well (it was last updated in 2017 oopsie).
I still need to get the 2047 Postseason MVP poll up which I will have up by tonight 😄.
Thanks to everyone as I figure out getting everything moved over to Slack from the Forum.
You’re putting a lot of hard work and not much we can complain about for that tbh
This is one of those fun times where I made a list of 5 guys like 10 picks ago and not one of them has been taken yet
Makes you either feel really smart or am I crazy haha?
Illinois LF Chris Payne will win Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Hitter. I need to see if we've ever had someone do this before. (https://statsplus.net/afbl/player/9983?page=dash) @cmyru82
Third round pick is already going the wrong direction. He lost two points off his potential stuff since I picked him. 😳
No he was listed as 1b but he had pretty good RP ratings. Wanted to get at least one RP. Went from 10 to 8 without anything else happening as far as I know.
Nelson shows as 8/6/7 as reliever in game (which hasn't changed, I don't think)
And my guy, Leo Moser, whose ratings as P in Statslab show as 7/6/10 change to 9/6/10 if you change him in game to a RP.
I hate the whole concept. If I have a two way guy I immediately turn it off
too damn confusing. motherfucker shows up on hitting and pitching screens, forces me to think about how many pitchers I really have... fuck it
I can't tell you how many times I looked at my roster, 25 guys, and I have 14 hitters and 13 pitchers. then I waste time trying to figure out how that is possible.
Though I really hate how the game makes pitchers who have absolutely no hitting talent into 1B causing this confusion
I’ve had a few guys who lose a couple ratings points then next month gain them back then lose them....
So hopefully he’s just one of those talent-moody guys and hasn’t lost them permanently.
Agreed.
Anyone belong to a league with unusual trading rules? Such as only off-season trading, restrictions on number of trades or whatever else might be out there?
I am in leagues where all the deals are massive - almost a rule that you can’t make a small deal. Lol
I like that. That would be another interesting topic. What are the best unwritten rules that leagues have developed? Are there any in the AFBL?
Is the whole draft done in StatsPlus or at some point do you finish it using in-game lists?
One that comes to mind as restricting only being able to trade a draft pick more then 1 year out
Figured out the Streeter one. Didn’t know about the one-year rule.
the setup of the league was jacked. so we did an inaugural draft - then the budgets came down one year in and I had to liquidate most of my good players. so I said f it. lots of owners bailed, but i didnt. just tried to lose every game
it started off innocently - I wanted to see if 18 year olds would still develop if they were rushed to the bigs
then it just got fun trying to find worse and worse guys with bad attitudes
I think the trading draft picks more than one year out rule because some of us were trying to trade draft picks 5 years in future back in Start of league, And it would be Tiresome to keep track of I think the most we did was two years
Would be fun to see what happened if there was a league where the goal was to lose though. Would it be a high scoring league or low scoring? Dominated by bad pitching or bad hitting? 🤔
i think had the majority of the owners stuck around they may have let me continue my farce...
6 years in R and A leagues is too much. 🙂 Good luck in FA to those guys I cut.
13 now. 🙂 Just found a couple more to send packing.
Looks like I missed the export deadline. We can be over roster limits in offseason correct?
You can squeeze one in honestly and yes that's fine in the offseason
Ok go ahead then. I won’t have time me until later.
Stuck in some work vendor admin training all week in the mornings so this will keep me from falling asleep at my desk 😂
Ehe! Tuesday, December 3rd, 2047 - Washington Resonance: RP Sergio Robles was injured while taping a late night television show. The Diagnosis: Strained hamstring. This injury keeps him out of action for 8 weeks. 😎
Ohhhh. That make more sense. I thought he was trying to figure out an old vcr.
Wow, my rotation has really taken a hit. 33-year-old Jorge Marquez took a huge hit to his ratings, and is now just 5/6/4... Ortega dropped to 6/6/6, Ron Carmichael retired...
Hopefully Takahashi (just 20 years old) will be ready. I don't like using pitchers with sub-5 control and he's got just 4 right now
I have a different philosophy. I am finding if they have good stuff and movement I don't care about control.
honestly in the current version it seems like you can succeed with any two of the three
Here's a 2048 Season Prediction from StatsLab. I posted this the other day but it hadn't updated to this season yet. https://matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab/seasonPreview.php (default password is baseball if you haven't logged into our new StatsLab yet)
OOTP/HTML Reports Season 2048 Predictions https://afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/leagues/league_100_preseason_prediction_report.html
Might be still early for this prediction and will update after ST? Who knows 😄
I was going to grab them soon @Zach - KY but happy to give you a few minutes
You were right @yuda. I missed a spot in the StatsLab settings about number of playoff teams. Fixed now. 🙂 https://matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab/seasonPreview.php
man if I have that kind of season with the guys I'm calling up....I'll be a bit depressed
Spring predictions are always stupid. If you have a bunch of players who won’t make it in your lineup then you are projected poorly and vice versa
Off on the 9th, played a game the 10th, evidently that had them so worn out they took the 11th off too
Man. The ratings in this league make no sense. How can someone with 1 speed be 10s across the board defensively
yea, I never really got that as well....Like a super fast dude not having good range
that could be the opposite - a real dumb guy who is fast but can't read a ball... i dunno
welp, my major-league team is set up but the minors are going to be a mess for a few days most likely
NC top prospect Hyotaru Takahashi allowed 1 ER in a complete game with 1 BB and 7 K in his season debut. A huge step forward from his 7 ER on 9 hits in 2+ innings in his big league debut last fall
Winning some games in NY! see if we can actually keep this going.
@jeffnewmexico is thinking they are son or grandson to each other 😂
Not knocking the new schedule per se, but it's odd that I have three Saturday's off in a row
Forgive me if this has already been discussed as I've been super busy lately... but
we don't have the standard week off around the ASG either... I've always kinda liked that.
I missed a checkbox and didn't notice until it was too late. It'll be fixed after this season.
FYI I won’t have an export for tonight either but should have one by Monday.
been in the office all week (no OOTP on my work computer) and by the time I get home I have zero interest in sitting in front of a screen
Nothing to do with being 45, lol
had to walk around and do some shopping at Target with them off the other day while they fixed the screws a bit and I couldn't see anything on the shelves
figures he is from Montreal... hehe
I do. I actually just noticed the sim before last lol.
I've had some guys who were fringe on both sides of the ball but nobody who was a two-way star
Christiaan van Meel has thrown his third career no-hitter
Choppy Orozco, who had a pretty good year last year, already has nearly half as many homers in 21 games (15) as he had in 154 games last season (33).
I'm looking in game and every player has no history.
Do I need to download something?
I noticed that too. I think it might be an artifact of the migration to 20?
I wonder if there's a tool out there that will allow us to merge the histories from the 19 folder with the ones in 20. They are text files... In a quick search I found a program that merges multiple text files into one, but not one that will combine big sets of files with the same name
I have an idea of what happened and hope to look into this today.
Also will be getting the 2048 Draft setup and ready to start today.
No need to fear for suspending the AFBL season due to COVID-19 concerns 😄
holy cow we swept washington (in their park, even!) and vaulted into first place
I've been on the outside looking in the last few years while also being very conservative with trades. Trying the opposite this year and making a more aggressive move to shore up my rotation
(also betting that the strong leaders in my clubhouse can keep him in line)
We had a little 9-1 run but aside from that have been very pedestrian this season.
@AFBL Commish I have a small rule change request... any chance we could boost the rookie league roster limit to 43 at least for a couple of weeks after the draft? I don’t think many of us want to trim any players until w see who is coming in.
I'd be open to increasing the Rookie League limit in the future for that point
Ah, the emotional roller coaster of finding a 5-star starting pitching prospect in your international complex and then opening his profile to see that he's got a poor work ethic...
I have a poor history will all International prospects. Not in this league (so far), but overall.
Jose Silva got his 250th win last sim. Roger Peck hit his 300th homer this sim @Zach - KY.
42 year old RP Victor Garcia is finally deciding to retire after this season for Colorado. He made his debut for the Bears back in 2029. https://statsplus.net/afbl/player/5893?page=pitch
Fully expected to be 500 or worse this year. We'll keep going for it with the players and their walkers lol
I know what you mean. Rivera is .120/.207/.240 after week one with the Danger. Trying to be patient.
Wow Matt, you're team is old... 2 years older than 2nd oldest team by average
I only have 2 position players over 28, so my offense is going to be here a while.
My pitching staff is still pretty old, but I did have all my 40+ guys retire.
37-year-old Jesus Ortega only still on the staff because the younger guys I tried to replace him with stunk it up
Yeah we're super old and keep hanging on. I'm guilty of trying to have my core veterans finish their careers in Colorado too. We'll crash eventually haha.
Yeah does seem to be a shortage. Not sure what to do about it if anything? I always assume the game will balance that stuff out. Also don't want the opposite end of this issue either.
I’m in favor of not changing anything. It’s interesting to watch the ebb and flow of randomly generated stuff.
I wouldn’t suggest doing anything about it. Makes the league interesting as it evolves.
it ebbs and flows. remember that 5-7 year period where everyone had too many catchers?
Also my rookie league team has a lot of SP talent. Perhaps a youth movement is on the way.
Kiristopa and Cornell are probably my only my only SPs that should be in the majors, with Takahashi a point in control behind... so when half your rotation should be in AAA I guess you get weird results.
27 year old rookie Jorge Guerra is 8-4, but only because we score 10 runs when he pitches.
Can you turn the timer off for say the times all time zones would be asleep?
(and yeah, if we don’t increase the timer for the later rounds we need to pause it during some approximation of when a lot of us are asleep - sorry @mikenewjersey)
Ya it's tough one with us spread out with Mike and also @cmyru82 in Wales (there might be another not in North America sorry).
I plan on keeping the sim schedule to have the draft due before Wednesday's sim so that's also a factor
yeah draft times also a tough one, we're pretty good at drafting here though.. in saying that 5 of my first 6 picks have been pitchers... hmm
Looks like we'll finish the draft today or tomorrow but undrafted players wouldn't be eligible to be claimed until we reach the end of the draft technically.
Should we think about adding 2 more rounds to get us to 10 total or is 8 rounds enough for everyone? Just brainstorming as we get through this first new time for the draft.
I'm good with 8, I'm on autopick by then anyway, then people can scoop free agents.
Eight is Enough.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfIsyJ2n5RA
I vote for 10 rounds. Why not if we have the time? ❤️ drafting.
broken record here but historically picks after round 4 don't pan out (I know there are exceptions). I don't think it is necessary to go more than 8.
Not sure I'd want more than 10 if we ever did add any rounds. Just curious what others thought.
Hmmm now that I think about it more, having everyone pick another two rounds is going to reduce the stock of free agents. I usually find a few useful guys after the draft and not everyone goes after them....so I change my vote. I like drafting but not as much as finding those post draft FAs.
8 has seemed to be our sweet spot on rounds and good points
My closest mlb park would be Cincinnati, but best real life comp with dimensions is probably Detroit. Tons of space
Oh well nevermind then. I’m only two hours away from Lexington
I have to ask you a question @Zach - KY do you like Fred Vanvleet hahah
I watched him tear my alma maters ass apart for four years lol
Haha I’ve got nothing against him, but he played for our biggest rival in HS, Rockford Auburn.
But funny thing - he of course played at Witchita State before the nba, but I was a student manager/video coordinator at Bradley University with Men’s basketball. They were in our conference so I was part of the staff for all 4 of his seasons there.
In fact, I proposed to my wife at halftime of a game where we hosted Wichita and he was playing lol. Game was on ESPN2.
Oh dam @Zach - KY well I had to ask because you’re from Rockford, And there seem to be a big party For all our playoff games last year
I was at Bradley 10-16, graduated and then worked there for a few years
Basically same thing happened for me with Southern. Love Barry to death though. He said I could list him as a resume reference lol
Is there a place where we can find the rules and settings of the league?
Ahh stopped updating the Forum after last season. Have your home page be either afblbaseball.com (StatsPlus) or afblbaseball.com/home (Rocket.Chat home with Slack posts mirror).
Cool thanks! Is the simulation engine all set to default for our league?
Any objections to combining tonight's sim with the 3 days following? No need to split them up with the Ammy Draft completed.
works for me. then a short sim on the next one? or just do 7 days from there?
I have it to be another longer sim after that (July 1 through July 10) to get us to the All-Star Break
new draftee Jeremy Mastin has been installed at AA to start his career in the athletics organisation
really excited for the next wave of athletics coming through the system...
currently the hopes for the rotation are led by
Ian Cranton - 19th pick in the 2046 draft
Tai Fat Tseng - acquired in a trade with WA for Jesus Cruz
Don Craig - also acquired in the trade for Cruz
Luis Lopes - yep, - also acquired in the trade for Cruz
Jeremy Mastin - 12th pick in the 2048 draft
Steve Rose - 35th pick in the 2045 draft
Wayaasi Mwamba - 95th pick in the 2045 draft, just been promoted to AAA
we're not so strong on the hitting side of things with our prospects but Luis Morales and Orlando Rodriguez are in the intl complex as previous 1st round draft picks
Ben Mitchell and Enrico Ornelas (32nd and 33rd picks in the 2048 draft) are a couple of pitchers who have the potential to break in to the rotation with a bit of luck in developing their 3rd pitches, or they'll make a couple of awesome relievers
Came very close to cutting my 8th round pick... But in the end I am letting him hang out for at least the rest of the year.
Ruined a few unanimous selections in the FL with my insistence on voting for my own guys ;)
I made a mistake while voting for All-Stars I voted for a catcher and then press vote So I only voted it for a catcher in the FL

3 in NY!!! probably haven't seen this many in a bit. 🙂
May that be one of the guys you voted for in order to stop some unanimous all star selections
Congratulations Mr Beck Who I didn’t really want in a trade with NY being a unanimous All-Star And very important member of my team
Happy for beck - he was stuck behind some real talent in my organization and has put together a nice career since being traded
Yeah he was really brought in to provide some defence behind Steve Bruce at 2B but the way he hit to end the season and obviously to start this season he has been a great pickup
Only thing about the trade I just made that sucks is Mike Carlton has to lose his spot he was a nice pickup to start to the season
WA C Kieran Wynn is still batting .400 after tonight's sim (116/290) @John_Washington
chad black came back from injury and lasted 0.1 innings before another 7 weeks on the sideline, what a wasted talent
living up to his fragile tag at the age of 23, his injury history makes horrendous reading
I just remembered the Catobase would have the total of starters or regulars or whatever you wanted to call them
I don't know how Jesus Ortega managed to throw a shutout. He's not the player he used to be yet somehow he's getting it done better than the two other guys I've tried as 5th starter this season... Ortega's even worked his way up to the 4th spot thanks to his 3.59 ERA, which is good in this league this year.
@John_Washington We'll see if my guys can stop that win streak of yours!
@steve e Your backup catcher hit his first 3 dingers of the season all in the same game lol
Highlights like these are what we have to look forward to this season.
Well I guess I didn't actually click Start on StatsPlus for tonight's sim. Sorry guys!
Solid sim for NY....I think we get knocked down a notch next sim with WV and ON on tap. Our goal was to get to .500 this season...trying to keep it close
I released 3B Kevin Johnson in May this year, he came back to bite me with a 3 run bomb for Illinois this sim!
Beltran and Garcia joined him on the IL this sim for a week to rest their injuries too
looks like star closer gonzalez keeps having setbacks - he is probably done for the year now
Bears LF Billy Kaufman has a 24 game hit streak currently and Bears 1B Mario Cruz hit his 400th homerun this sim
75-40, best record in the league, now 9 games ahead of WV. Our run differential has surged lately, now up to +157, 2nd only to Oregon. We had been under 100 for a good portion of the season.
it's nice to be playing pretty well (13 games above .500 at 53-40) before going on a hot streak for a change
in past seasons I'd be scuffling along around or even below .500 when I got hot
Right now the Aviators are batting .309 as a team, which would be an AFBL record if it can be sustained.
I just don't think I have the pitching to compete in the postseason. I was hoping there'd be some in-season development from Takahashi, and while his 11-8, 4.38 season isn't terrible for a rookie, I really want him to get that control up to 5 or better (potential is 8...). Cornell/Kiristopa/Takahashi could be a decent October trio, but not with Takahsashi walking so many guys. I guess if you score enough runs you can overcome bad pitching, but that's what I've been trying to do these past few seasons and while it works over the course of 162 games, it's not worked in the postseason.
On the bright side, my bullpen is solid, so maybe I just set quick hooks on the starters and rely on the pen in the postseason.
My staff is so bad that I signed a FA who IL released with a 7.09 ERA in 29 AAA starts and he's now my 4th starter. 🙂
Honestly I didn't think my pitching was good enough last year and somehow we pulled it off
I see you signed Moran - he has always been ok. I think you can get something out of him
maybe it's random, but it feels like the more-recent versions of OOTP are better at modeling guys (especially pitchers) who are really uneven season-to-season
I feel like I used to have guys who were, like, a consistent level of mediocre. But now you'll have fringe-major-league guys who once in their career will give you a borderline all-star season, that sort of thing
I'm starting to prepare for the fact that Frank Baker is probably going to have to move to 1B (or DH) in the next couple of seasons.
Not sure I have anybody in the system who could take over for him, unless I just want to go all-glove at the spot.
Turd Newton dropped from a 7 to a 4 in CF a few years ago and I tried him in RF for a year and he was okay but then I put him at 1B and he went from no rating to 9 in a few months. I know Baker is a 3B but maybe he'll have similar success in a transition
It's funny how 1B was the one position I was struggling to fill in this league. I hadn't had a guy who was competent with both the glove and bat there since 2022 with the exception of Lo's overachieving year until I moved Turd there in 2047
I think at its peak his range was only 5 or 6. I assume the idea is supposed to be that he's not very good at positioning. As his speed has dipped slightly he's gone down to 4 range.
I think that range is a combination of mental quickness, physical quickness and positioning ability (and anything else that has an impact on whether a player can get to a ball hit near him). And speed, as a rating, is only how fast a player can go from base to base and has nothing to do with range.
I am toying with the idea of trying Raul Silva at 1B - but his ratings don’t really indicate that he can make that transition...
appears his infield range peaked at 7. his speed has gone from 10 to 6, and he's gained 25 lbs since those days
arm and error are way more important than range for a 3B, but I figure he's in his decline phase so it's gonna come sooner or later
Yep. Strange fucking times we live in. Hope everyone and their families are well
only 2.5 more days untils chool holidays, yay, then I'm off from being the daddy school teacher at home.. it's tough!!!
I am actually starting to get bored, Playing video games out of the park baseball and reading all day 😬 But I agree I hope everyone’s doing well and as long as you guys are staying safe we should all get through this
I’m having some Internet trouble so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my expert in tonight
my expert charges too much, so I don';t use him anymore 😄
hey, NJ is staring down the barrel of a #1 pick, doing our best to get there... without even trying!!!
My team record for win% in a season is .630.... with a month to go, we are currently at .659.
we’re not on a record pace (.636 for the team, playing .619 right now), but I like our chances for the playoffs this year.
I think I did ok bailing after winning the title. not sure how to recover though... lol
I mean I have to think being the first to bail out gives you a shot at being ascendant when the rest of us are all declining
NM managing to hang in there at second wildcard. Cordero coming back from injury. New 3b Rivera finally getting it going after a slow start after coming over from NJ. Does low adaptability lead to low production after trade I wonder?
Need to have Flagstaff (A) get hot and make the playoffs. NM org close to having all five teams make the playoffs. 🤞😃
I have noticed that with adaptability - some guys take some time after being traded
I had thought it was mainly to do with switching positions but with Rivera having a really bad start I started wondering what else it might affect.
@jeffnewmexico You have the toughest SOS left of all teams in the league!
funny here is an interesting case where a guy had high adapability.
/player Brad Anderson
Yeah I noticed that. Well you have to play who you play. It is what it is.
everytime he entered a new situation he ripped then he slowly declined into who he really was
Are we able to see record vs teams in our division anywhere? in OOTP or on StatsPlus?
its cool. summarizes all time, this season and post season then gives details of each match
Yikes. WA vs IN: 2-2 after 9. WA scores 4 in top of 16th. IN wins it with 5 in bottom of 16th.
Colorado CF Devlyn Blais suffers a hamstring strain and is done for the year. He won't get a chance to shoot for .400 as his season ends at .395 (190/481).
Thanks to recent surges at the plate by Turd Newton and Steve Larsen, I can field a lineup consisting of nothing but .300+ hitters.
CA - Flash Rodriguez - .353
1B - Turd Newton - .314
2B - Orlando Garcia - .321
3B - Jim Simpson - .318
SS - Rod Crews - .332
LF - Choppy Orozco - .342
CF - Nick Orchard - .348
RF - Ernesto Gonzales - .314
DH - Steve Larsen - .307
Interesting (to me 😃) game coming up in the last regular season day of A-ball. Spokane can tie Flagstaff for the final playoff spot if they win. A Flagstaff win will get all four NM minor league teams into the playoffs.
What level of interest do you have in your minor league teams? Do you spend a lot of time on them or do you draft-and-forget for the most part? Is winning important to you at the minor league level or do you care mainly about winning at ML level?
I'm secretly way into my minors my organization and have had great success there it just obv hasn’t carried over to ML level because all my starlets blow something out or I trade them
Your secret is out! I’m into mine too. Used to not care too much about winning in minors, but I’ve started to believe that winning will help with development. Pretty sure it won’t hurt. Unless you lose a guy to injury in the playoffs. Lost Juan Rosales for 13 months a couple of seasons ago pitching a playoff game for Las Vegas.
I might wait to call up AAA guys if my squad has a chance at winning but mostly care about fielding a complete team/roster and also cutting players that aren't fits or developing.
I care about players doing well I don’t care if the team wins titles but I do hope they play at least a little bit of competitiveness.
I personally care about individual performance in the minor leagues until about double triple A where I care about the team as a whole
Also I’d like to advanced players Who are successful with low work ethic because they develop quicker When successful but one injury and they stop developing
I’ve always kept young minor league rosters except AAA and the records have suffered tremendously. My rookie league team has been incredibly inept
My rookie team has only 1 >.500 season, a 71-69 run in 2045. You can count the >.400 seasons on two hands...
The A club has been pretty much as bad. 2017 they went 75-65 and since then had only 1 >.500 season and no playoff appearances in their history.
AA club has made 4 appearances but has never finished first in the league.
AAA club has a 2305-2172 all time record, 10 post season appearances and 3 titles.
Anyone check Maryland player Tore Nuijs ? 55 errors at 2b and he is a zone rating of -79 with efficiency of .544 - wow
Lol that’s what happens when a poor corner OF plays 2b. Now I know haha
I also pay attention to my minors, but I’m mostly focused on balanced rosters, team age, healthy players, and team chemistry. Like, I like it when they win, but the main focus is on developing guys with a future and cross-training at multiple different positions when appropriate.
Yes it will be but ideally we turn over to the next season quicker 🤞
Yes wasn’t saying it was bad, just odd 😃
Ugh, lost one of my three decent starters for the year. That probably costs us a shot at the title.
NC rookie Rod Crews set the NC record for hits in a game with a 7-for-9 day.
Crews joins Cedric Boyd (7) and Mike Haynes (8) as the only players in AFBL history to have more than 6 hits in a single game.
Current NC rotation: Cornell (19-9, 3.95), Kiristopa (17-5, 3.16), Flores (0-0, 10.45), Perez (0-0, 0.00 FA claim), Hernandez (1-2, 6.12 FA Claim)
New Minor League Single Season Records (2048)
Batting
SB: 88 – Octavio Aybar (AAA VA)
AB: 625 – David Wiesner (AA GA)
Runs: 138 – Tony Delgado (AA MD)
Triples: 21 – Pat Johnson (A IL)
Singles: 154 – Guenther Gandler (R IL)
Pitching
Saves: 38 – Noboru Noda (AAA OH). Beat his own record of 37 in 2040.
Shutouts: 2 – Reijiro Mizutani (AAA OH). Shares with 10 other players.
Losses: 25 – Ben Heading (AA IL)
Games: 117 – Dan Carter (AA NY)
BB: 165 – Ben Heading (AA IL)
Saves: 49 – Samual Woolcock (A PA)
I’d really like to get an export in. Hopefully the evening breaks that way for me.
Billy Kaufman just got his 3000th career hit
So much for trading him away think he was going to have the typical Maryland injury curse 😉
Lou O’Slattery has already tied Oregon’s record for single-season home runs (49).
Perhaps more interesting: there had only been two 40+ HR seasons in Oregon history (both Cristian Ramirez back in the 20s). We have two this season with O’Slattery and Sander Mertens (40 so far)
Choppy Orozco has tied the NC Home Run record with 46, a record he holds that he set 3 years ago. At the ripe old age of 27, he's already 2nd on the NC career HR list with 260, trailing leader Greg Smith by 92 HR
Raul Silva has achieved his 8th 30HR/30SB season. MIssed one year in the middle with a 29/52 in only 128 games.
Choppy Orozco had his first 40/40 campaign with 46 HR and 42 SB so far. Man that was such a big deal when Jose Canseco did it back in the 80s.
NC won our 98th game last sim, ending our streak of 97-65 seasons at three...
Silva has 4 40/40 seasons and 1 39/53 season. A little silly for a catcher, but hell of a career so far.
that is impressive. Unless Idaho finishes 10-2 this will be our first sub .500 season in a dozen years
Well the 12 years of losing gave me a deep system. I've been hesitant to make many trades so I can keep the minors stocked. That has helped me maintain a good team but is also probably why I only have 2 titles in 16 trips
this has also been my approach, but the “extra” draft made me decide to loosen up a little bit this season.
I dealt some real good talent, giving WV a title in 2044 when I traded them C- Thompson, OF - Benitez, and SP Hector Gonzales
the return has not lived up to what was traded away, although Gonzales really only had 1 good year for WV and Benitez had a couple but has been injured a ton. Reg Thompson is a stud Catcher, but I had Silva, then Akiyama and had nowhere to put Thompson...
Gianni Girard has been a solid CF, Isaac Turton flamed out after one good season and the 3 pitchers I got look to be average. They will all pitch in AFBL, Mario Gomez is 13-18 so far, Jeff Amery, the prize of the trade, looks like he will never develop a 3rd pitch, and Kobayashi is wild, but has good stuff.
Scouting discovery has not been as kind to Idaho. I blame myself for Pepe Aguilera, who never developed to his full potential. Octavio Bentiez was a great discovery, but injuries derailed that career. Even Akiyama is good, but injury prone...
Anyone would be good with Choppy Orozco and Flash Rodriguez, who were both scouting discoveries
Random trivia about Flash Rodriguez... I had Matt rename him because I had another catcher the same age with the same name. I almost chose Lefty Rodriguez, because one of the Jose Rodriguez's was a righty and Flash a lefty, but I went with the sarcastic 'Flash' for him... he has 4 career SB in 9 attempts. 🙂
Coincidentally Choppy was also renamed, although I don't remember his original first name. He's named to be a cousin of former NC star Slappy Orozco. I don't think Slappy and Choppy every played together though.
Time to update our favorite 2B - up to 60 errors and -85 zone rating.
Definitely time to rest your dudes. I think two games rest then Bring em back for those last three to re-tune up and you are good to go
11 guys on the VDC with double digit HR. If Reinhardt Weigl can hit one over the final 5 games, we’ll have an even dozen.
I will be resting my two good starting pitchers. Business as usual for the rest of the team.
Choppy has a good chance at 50 HR and 150 RBI. Plus I feel like my guys get rusty when I give them the last week off. Cannot take a chance on losing 1 of my two good SPs though.
Well you'll be facing pitchers who were in the FA pool a month ago, so you'll just need to put up 13
I remain undecided on how hard I want to pursue the division. Probably enough that I'm not going to play backups, but I may still decide to rest an injury-prone guy or two
(don't do it just for me, can't be 100% sure I'll be around. But I'll make it a point to check in)
NC team records on the line: Choppy Orozco's OPS of 1.102 is barely ahead of Turd Newton's record 1.010, est last year.
Turd Newton needs three runs to break his own team record of 139 runs, set last year.
Choppy Orozco needs 10 total bases to break Turd Newton's record of 391, set last year.
Choppy Orozco has already set the team HR record with 48, breaking his own record 46 set in 2045.
Choppy Orozco needs 2 RBI to break Greg Smith's record of 149, set way back in 2017.
Record watch in Oregon:
With 1 hit Ty Hinkle will break his team record of 220 hits set last year, Marc Maldonado Has a chance to break it also 7 hits away
Marc can break Chris Currys 2032 TB record of 346 with 2 more hits or one more lol
Marc broke Derek Anderson’s 2016 record of 18 triples he has 21
Duri Al Gahary is 4 HR shy of breaking Ed Sexton Jr. 2015 & Andy Reed 2019 35 HR for a season
Looks like Oregon and Washington tied going into the last day of the season.
After dropping two straight to PA, who we barely edged out, on 9/13 and 9/14 we were 68-73. Then went on a 16-5 run
I think it was after that my pitching got hot allowing just over 3.5 rpg
We went 6-12 against @chappy and the Aviators so I’m expecting a short playoff jaunt
NM sweeps both Oregon and Washington for a 6-0 sim. Hope we stay hot, been cold for quite a while.
Yeah I’ve got to say Oregon and Washington both backed into this 163rd game
And I believe we’ll be playing 1 to decide who gets home field advantage in the next 7.
Anyway I’m going to bed I’ll figure out my setup for that game in the morning.
Sadly the Ontario blue Pirates homerun record from 2015/2019 did not fall this season maybe next year
Damn 2 games off from the season goal of .500 for NY
i gues spoor pitching combined with poor hitting and pretty average D will do it... lol
Okay awesome. I'll run Sim 29 - Game 163 to decide the FL West here in a moment.
@John_Washington you realize all it changes is that if it goes to game 7, that one is in Oregon, right? We were playing each other either way. 😉
I'll get my playoff roster set up sometime today - @AFBL Commish lmk when you think you'll start working on playoff sims so I know how to prioritize
Sorry got pulled away after starting the sim. I'll finish it up when possible in the next hour or so.
(somehow stupid work things feel less annoying right now since I am at least able to keep doing it)
Is there a way you can rts game seven of the Explorer League Champioship or can you only do ml games? @AFBL Commish
(I'm reading that in the voice from the beginning of the old SmashTV game. "good luck... you'll need it!")
sorry, late afternoon got away from me at work and now I have to pick the oldest up from her mom's. there's a chance I don't get an export in until after she's in bed
Vote LF Ademar Bouvery for FL MVH! My man rocked a league leading 169 wRC+ in his rookie year. 46 bombs with a 1.056 OPS!
Looks like all 7 human GMs are ready to go with WV vacant. I'll start the playoffs here shortly tonight.
Hopefully with AI WV won’t beat me this year
Hopefully the 2 9th inning hrs is a sign of things to come - offense sure put up a stinker in G1
Tho personally I wouldn’t have had my closer pitch 3.1 innings not ideal
Extra rest did English some good. LaPlante his usual unreliable self.
Good thing for me I have my ace on Regular rest for game 3 my worst pitcher was awesome for game 2 so hopefully it works out
Still waiting for StatsPlus to get a Playoffs module but StatsLab has a good one here https://www.matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab/playoffs.php (if you haven't logged in, default password is baseball)
Whenever NM is ready to continue, we can run Playoff Sim 2 (WCS Games 4-6).
I see we’re starting to get a very MLB-esque backlog on the HOF ballot. First time in a while I had to leave somebody off I’d have liked to have voted for.
No dealing with a weird roster issue with WV and then my OOTP crashed...
Split the first two on at home and on the road... gotta win this next one or I'll be feeling a lot of pressure
Man well I got it to 7, no idea who I’ll pitch though. NC tears apart any righty basically and I doubt I have a lefty who can go for more than a few innings
You've taken 2 out of 3 in Charlotte so far so you're doing something right.
Yeah it’s bombarding you with lefties. I threw Martinez in games 4 and 6 (on a pitch count)
But I don’t think I can bring Carrillo back for 7 after his pitching 8.1 in game 5
If I did my math right my "ace" will be fully rested for game 7. Of course he's got an ERA of 6.75 in his first two starts this postseason, so who knows what he'll do.
Your pitchers have done a number on us Heinz... Team OPS of .867 during the regular season, only one player over that this postseason.
Is Openers something in OOTP20? I'm not opposed to turning that on if so.
Yeah they are @AFBL Commish at least I’m 99% sure. It’s a setting that can be turned off/on league wide
It’s a strategy setting, Even if you turn it from zero We have to decide to do it because we are human managers
NC and ON have exports in. We can wrap up the Wildcard Series whenever VA is ready.
It’s a strategy setting it’s not on no matter how high it’s set unless you want it to be, I have it set at 2 (rarely) in MLB in my solo league And higher in my minors but I personally do not use opener/follower setting
Tho I am just realizing that Matt would Actually have to turn it on I just had it on for so long I didn’t realize that oops 😬
Ok @AFBL Commish has my single move to set my SP (McCluskey, no lefties left) so we are set. GL @chappy !
I also don’t know what happened because I swear I switched the DH but it was a good game and congratulations AI Maybe next year I won’t face West Virginia
So in the first round (7 games), my entire bench only made 1 plate appearance
Looks like we're ready to continue the LCS but I'll wait a few hours to run the sim so it's a normal time for those in the playoffs to watch 🙂. Good luck guys!
Although I see all 3 of you online now so if you guys are ready I can start it now instead of in a few hours. Either way! @jeffnewmexico @John_Washington @chappy
I think I left slack running on my computer. But I’m here now on mobile.
Awesome not sure if it was still too early for the west coast for @John_Washington 🙂
I’ve been creating rosters in the show again... playing Ky vs Co live now on YouTube if you’re bored!
I’ll show you guys Washington later on. I think I did pretty good with their uniforms
Feature request for RTS: which game of the series it is and records so far
WV got the tying run to the plate in the top of the 9th but we escape with a 2-0 lead as we head up the into the mountains
Jorge Guerra has made 3 fine starts... considering he had a 5.50 ERA in the regular season, I'll take it
NM going to have to dial back the base running aggressiveness a bit.
I think all my pitchers are tired, so either new file or change my staff to 4 man and auto
According to the Chappy Sports Bureau, during the regular season 8 of the 9 batters in the NC lineup hit over .300. This postseason, only 1 player is batting over .300 (not counting Steve Larsen, who is batting exactly .300), and he is Luis Martinez, the only regular NOT to hit over .300 during the regular season.
Wow, from the FA pool to 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 5 K in a second round postseason game. Way to go, Jorge Hernandez.
Arrrgh. Was really hoping to win game five or six. Seven is going to be a tough one for NM to win I think.
Awesome good luck guys. I should be able to get Game 7 started soon.
How do you guys watch the RTS? Just watch the RTS page? Refresh game log or box score? Slack results?
I just watch the RTS page when I can stand the tension. Lol. Otherwise I pace and look when I think it’s over.
Very different in the SBC where I just sleep through it all because the sims are so early.
WA has exported. Good luck, Chappy, although I need luck more than you.
I've instructed WA pitchers to keep NC batters very afraid.
Still mad about Big Boots Thompson’s CEI back in the first or second season
ugh okay sorry guys. usually only let it go a day at a time but had it set to just keep going. didn't think it'd rush through.
Darn. Thought it might go a bit past the game on my side first before continuing.
Jim Simpson; 4th in MVP voting, #8 hitter in my lineup
Choppy was intentionally walked 9 times and hit by pitch 25 times, that helps
Not sure how determined but I’ve had some players always among league leaders so I don’t think it’s random
Do some guys hang out over the plate more than others maybe in OOTP? Not sure if that's a thing in OOTP or not.
Don’t worry John, I don’t have any other big league SPs until these two are rested again
Do we have the "Overall based on all players" box checked in our league? not many 5** players
That makes sense, looking at a seperate fictional league there are wayyyy more stars when its unchecked.
As long as Guerra keeps the ball in the yard for @chappy the Aviators might be ok
I'll be able to continue the FCS here shortly @John_Washington @chappy
Man, I missed that three guys retired before the end of the playoffs, including Jesus Ortega and former first round pick Eddie Wheeler.
Morales just hit his 9th HR of the postseason. Record for a single postseason is 11
@mstreeter06 game over! Well, it was over in the 2nd inning, but it's really over
Sorry kids have been extra so I was needed lol. About to start Game 5!
Yeah it's mainly because he's my #3 hitter. Don't want backup catcher theire
By the way, I am going to petition to change the spelling of there and their to theire or maybe even theiy're so people no longer use the wrong one
Still faced with the daunting task of picking up a road win with one of my bum starters
Series is now down to a best of three, but Washington has stolen home field advantage.
On my team schedule page the home games are 8:05 ET and the road games are 11:05 ET
Well, we've exported with a new batting order and no backup catcher.
If I'm trying to find a silver lining, I'll say Jose is a slightly better defensive catcher than Flash, and he has called better games judging by CERA, but there really is no silver lining when you lose the #2 player in PL Most Valuable Hitter voting.
Jose should watch the traffic coming to the park. I'd hate to see an outfielder behind the plate.
Maybe it's like hockey and there's an emergency catcher I can use
hhm, Flash has a better arm. Maybe I should stoke up the running game.
Carolina did have help with one this year maybe a David could help you too
What are the odds Rod Crews strikes out and makes and error in the same game.
In retrospect I might have been better off starting a good reliever instead of Guerra. Just not a good matchup for him
With Kiristopa on short rest and my starter only lasting 3 innings yesterday, this could be a high scoring affair
Well he is a former starter so, North Carolina was definitely familiar with him
I kind of have to root for Washington because I want Chet to get a ring so go Wash
Happy to do that for you or release a new file. Either way for the deciding game for sure.
Random note... SP Normal Cornell and RP Lou Moore are the only players to appear on all 3 NC championship teams
Let’s hear it for
Mario Moran. Won 2047 title when he pitched a total of 18 the season innings for Idaho and won in 2048 pitching 1 game during the the season for North Carolina
He benefited from Jesus Ortega abruptly retiring before the playoffs. I had not even noticed Ortega was gone and wasn't sure how Mario made the roster!
In 2039 he started 15 games for Idaho and in 2041 he was 0-4 8.34 ERA but got a ring too
i have a couple of guys with 4. colorado has the most team titles so maybe Matt has someone with 5?
Yeah I’m curious but I didn’t want to go through the trouble lol
It’s part of each players record in some form but I don’t know a way to list in-game. I don’t think it’s a filter option.
“...and the New Mexico Danger did not play any games during this period. The league is currently in the postseason.” Nice to be reminded! 😃
i don't think it is a filter option. but you are right, it is on each player record. shouldn't be hard to figure out which field it is and do some math...
I have to admit I was rooting for Washington down the stretch, in which case we'd have lost to the champion. 😉
I was rooting for Washington too, to keep the cup in the FL West.
and yay I lost to the champ again - I think back a bit I had a ridiculous run of doing that
Wow was Christopher that old? Seems like I called him up not THAT long ago
35, but he couldn't play defense well enough to play in the middle infield or hit well enough to play 1B or DH anymore
I usually get a round when the minor league seasons end, and a second wave when the season ends. but it's never clear to me exactly when the "end of season" trigger is
With Ahilocana Gopalakrishnan's HOF election imminent, I was wondering who has their number retired around the league. Goppy's #14 was retired in NC back in 2044, joining Crawdad Hicks (#1) and Norberto Leon (#23) as the only Aviators with their numbers retired.
Idaho retired #34 Jim Fish and #26 Loren Dobson. Idaho also respects #42 as a number that cannot be worn at the big league level.
neither Fish nor Dobson will make the HOF (although I have presented my case for Dobson) but were major players for the club in its first 20 years of existance.
I’d never really thought about that before! Jake Ladner should probably have his retired
I think the game now retires HOF inductees automatically, but it didnt before
Yeah, Goppy's was automatically done, I had done the other two. It even did a bio for him.
I... haven't paid as much attention to that in Oregon as I typically like to.
(I also haven't paid much attention to that in NPBL. Probably related to my sharp decline of OOTP league extracurriculars after having kids)
I think I am also inclined to retire Bobby Brooks (3B on the early teams) and Juan Salas
Leonardo Mendoza has already guaranteed his will be retired but hopefully we get several more years from him.
and honestly he could have kept going when he retired. 5/6/9 ratings, 9 stamina
his knuckler was still an 8 and his overall stuff rating was usually 6 and never higher than 7 anyway
he'd lost some movement and he wasn't going to be an ace anymore but he could have been like a #3 pitcher for another 5 years I'll bet
2023: elbow tendinitis, later back spasms (for 5 weeks!), sprained ankle
2024: shoulder inflammation
2025: shoulder again, but it's hidden b/c it was at the end of the season
2026: torn meniscus
now I'm thinking I want to find one guy who primarily played in the 20s to retire. Haas was at his best in the teens, Salas in the 30s, Mendoza will be retired for the 40s.
the only bad thing about manually entering the retired jerseys is if you have a typo... no edit button you have to unretire and then retype...
In my solo leagues I had to manually retire a few numbers from other teams, And I can’t type to save anyone’s life, If I’m doing it manually I basically follow exactly what the computer does but sometimes I add in a unique fact or something
I originally made up my own blurb but then noticed that the game has a certain format so I tried to change the notes to be similar to the AI
I always forget about retired numbers too. I need to do some digging myself. Also potentially have 2 owners found via Reddit actually lol.
Welcome to AFBL @Josh V.-IN/AZ Vipers. Excited to get you setup and going. Coming in at a great time as we'll be moving to the next calendar year later tonight.
Welcome to the zoo, Josh; please do not feed the animals.
Not to brag, but NC crushed the team Batting Average record in 2048 with a .319 mark. Previous PL record was .301 and previous AFBL record was .306. NC also holds the record for WORST Batting Average with a .217 mark in 2023.
NC set AFBL team records for AVG, OBP, SLG, At Bats, Runs, and Hits in 2048
I was really hoping for an NC-OR finals, because I felt like I had the best pitching staff this year.
Let's trade pitching staffs for next season and see how good NC can really be!
I'm pretty sure Jim Simpson had a patented OOTP career year in '48. He'll probably go back to his average .289-26-86 line next year
Getting some serious online ootp withdrawal. Off season everywhere.
We are now full too! Just getting Taylor added as the new WV owner 🎉 party_parrot
Welcome @Taylor (WV/AL), Let’s hope I don’t have to face you in the playoffs hahah
Hello! Looking forward to continuing to beat y’all in the playoffs
I think this happens at the official start of the Offseason in the game
We had about 600 or so FAs retire I think. Total FAs before was like 2600 and now we're back around 2000.
A lot of the players that show up as my retirees are ones I cut and were actually retiring as FAs. Hmmm
@AFBL Commish safe to do an export on the new file or will you need to get the new owners added first?
wanted to get a new file up for everyone this morning while I get Taylor and Josh added plus other items
People at work are ruining read-only Fridays 🔪 lol so will hopefully have some time this afternoon to get the final items wrapped up before we move to Spring Training.
While looking at the leaderboards to avoid doing my work today, I noticed that Norman Cornell's 3 postseason wins this year give hom 20 career postseason wins. He's only the third player to reach 20 postseason wins, joining Rod O'Colgan (33!) and Jon Givens (21), both hall-of-famers. Cornell is not a lock for the hall, but he's definitely been inching closer. 1 MVPitcher, 8 All-Star games, 3 Championships.
Here's what's most interesting to me. His career ERA in the regular season (3.24) and postseason (3.33) are very close, but his win% drops considerably from 67% in the regular season to 51% in the postseason
Retired Georgia pitcher Freddy Lopez had a pretty remarkable postseason record - 31.1 innings pitched in 31 appearances with just 1 run allowed, a solo HR.
barring some miracle where Idaho returns to the playoffs in the next 2 seasons, Anibal Gonzales will stay 2 saves short of the all time post season leader Bob Jones
StatsPlus does have the Ballpark link on the left column https://statsplus.net/afbl/park/2
Actually just had Dave add the capacity for the ballpark to the page
Trying to find the spreadsheet. These are just the images pulled from the Forum's backup.
https://afblbaseball.com/forum/index.php?topic=59.0
Most or all of our ballparks are still our originals from 2013 or 2017 for our expansion teams iirc
Which reminds me I probably need to move because I’d like to have my stadiums the same place where I work at a little bit Realism
All of our stadiums are originals (I think) from back in 2013 so good time for the Blue Pirates to build new digs 😎
I've add Dave (S+) move the UBL to be a top level league for StatsPlus so it's visible. Seems to be the only/best way currently in S+. Hoping to have him add a checkbox to the FA section in S+ so the UBL players can be viewable there.
Anyone ever have a player have their personality ratings change? I could have sworn SS Steve Anderson had low leadership but now he is normal. I know I tried to trade him last year and couldn’t because of his attitude. Never noticed that happening before.
yes i purposely drafted some asshole a long time ago - low work ethic and low leadership. The scouting report was like 'this guy is a prick cocksucker'. a few years later he was a team leader - but sadly his skills were not good. i need to find him
i had one guy who was personality class captain fall back to just be a leader. i’m guessing his leadership regressed a bit (or some other factor that plays into that)
Yep, I’ve seen the class change, but not leadership, work ethic or intelligence ratings. @lt - Idaho I think it was Idaho I tried to trade him to.
I’ve got to say, I was a little nervous about trading for Odwin but he was perfectly happy joining a winning team (and a rotation spot)
Yeah he’s a good one (and maybe he’ll adjust his attitude!). I was just thinking I should have kept him. English and others have declined a bit and I’ve got guys in the pipeline but that’s at least a year off.
So once UBL is ready to go the players are available for signing as if they are free agents?
No wonder I couldn’t find any good free agents in NPBL free agent pool.
Usually a note about where to find the player in question is appreciated but if you want to make matt work I guess you can skip it ;)
The independently just give them a chance to have a talent boost, And some stats to look at
I also like independent leagues b/c sometimes you’ll have an old star hang on well into his 40s when he couldn’t stick on a “real” team
Example from NPBL - I cut this guy in early 2070 (he was already 42) and he went on to play 5 years in the IL https://statsplus.net/npbl/reports/news/html/players/player_5458.html
31 seasons of professional ball, if you count the minors, MLB (23 seasons there!) and NYSL
I like to cut my spring training roster down from 50 to 40 to 33 (then to 26 to start the season). I was sitting here struggling to figure out who to cut to go 41->40, when I realized that I don't have to, and I can just wait and go 41->33 tomorrow.
2 sims into spring training and Crews has gone from a 5 to a 7 in SS defense. That's going to be good for us IF Orlando Garcia can stay healthy
Here's the Season Preview from StatsLab (your default password is baseball if you haven't logged in before)
Moving Crews from 2B to SS will allow us to put Orlando Garcia (career .309/.349/.497) in the lineup instead of Luis Martinez (career .272/.316/.380). NC needs more offense, lol
i love spring training because when a player is underperforming you can just brush it off with the small sample size and the games not counting and also convince yourself that anyone who’s over performing is poised to break out this year
I'm going to need a little better! We pushing for playoffs this year in NY 🙂
Anyone use starting pitchers with 4 endurance? I might have to resort to that.
I've had to before but I was sure to have former starter(s) in my pen to piggy back.
Not usually a recipe for success and they normally end up in the pen themselves
I have in a couple leagues, works ok if the guy has solid control
from another league: https://statsplus.net/thedugout/reports/news/html/players/player_52749.html
I did use Lou Moore as a starter one year and he averaged a hair over 6 innings a start, but I think he was 5 stamina back then
I can carry an extra reliever instead of a 3rd catcher with the 26 man rosters
that's an interesting question: what does everybody use the 26th roster spot on?
for me that slot is earmarked for "team captain (who is not good enough to make the team on other merits)"
I want to break Colorado and Texas's record of 11 straight playoff berths.
So I'm trying to keep making the playoffs while maintaining a deep system
Honestly the 26 man depends on how my team is doing usually I start off with an extra MR but Recently it’s been a platoon guy cause of my all LH lineup
I went back and forth between an extra reliever and third catcher last season.
@yuda I try to use it on a veteran leader type as well. Some guy who will accept his role (read getting little or no playing time)
I mean I guess I was carrying a veteran leader on the 25-man rosters as well
Ya I like using the 26th man for a leader/captain and/or a specialist of some capacity
Plus having the DH as another option helps with roster construction imo
I hate the DH in real life but in this game it helps get extra guys playing time
Have used it for team captain and all around good guy Jorge Pagan. Might be his last year in that slot though.
What I wish was for OOTP to have a flexible enough engine that on the rare occasion when I have a starting pitcher who can hit I could let the DH bat for my all-glove shortstop or something
I don't think it would - I don't think it lets you sub the DH for a non-pitcher
although I've got a cheat sheet of who's competing for which spots so it shouldn't be too painful over the weekend to do final cuts
Do you think players benefit from just being on the spring training roster? Or do they need playing time?
That’s a good question - i usually keep only a few extra guys for spring cause usually i have my squad set
Unless there’s coaches I don’t think so, Usually when I actually export 😳 I only call up a few guys For each position so my starters get enough playing time and they get enough rest
Or I bring up a couple guys and basically just start them because they’re gonna be the first call ups and I want to see who performs well
Recent trade acquisition SP Bobby Young tore his UCL 🥴 out for the year...
Got a little depth in the rotation so hopefully they can take up the slack
Did we drop the number of games on the college schedule to allow the draft to be switched to mid-season? Or was that just for last year?
Season postponed? 🤔 Where have I heard that before?
First they take real baseball now Our fake baseball is getting postponed, When will the horror end
Oh no.. Colorado 3B Rodney Noseworthy tears his PCL and now out for the season 😞
Absolute duel between KY-NM - both starters 8 SO innings and trusted reliever Ed Lopez blew it in the 9th!
Yeah got to love OOTP sometimes haha. Bears are in the market for a SS or 3B 😎
Ya it was an extra day or two for the opening sim with Opening Day starting on a Friday
Despite the injures, Colorado’s offense still pacing the league - most runs scored so far.
Don't expect it to hold up especially if we lose any more starters. Moved Mario Cruz across the diamond to 3B 😬
I made a note of it to turn off Never/Disable before the season started but forgotten about it oopsie.. I plan to make the Opener and Follower pitching roles available starting next sim.
It'll just be an option for teams to use. Not forced. I'll have it up to a 1 setting from 0 (out of 10) just so it's enabled for those that want to use it.
afblbaseball.com/exports will take you to https://statsplus.net/afbl/exports
1) Designate follower(s) in the rotation
If you have someone you absolutely want to follow every 5th day, you put him in the rotation with his player strategy set as a follower and designate a few pen guys as openers (secondary pen role). One of those openers will start the game and then the follower takes over. Perfect for a weak 5th starter scenario / borderline guys. Most will choose this route.
2) Designate opener(s) in the rotation
If you have guy(s) you absolutely want to open regularly and you don't care as much about who specifically follows, you put the openers in the rotation with player strategy set as opener and designate a few pen guys as followers (secondary pen role). This scenario is more for a strategy where you have stronger pen arms you want to emphasize over traditional starters.
The game does still attempt to honor individual pitch counts on all pitchers, but will override based on pen fatigue.

(scroll down)
Because OOTP is gonna OOTP... our offense is not living up to expectations but we’re pitching like an early 90’s Braves team. Pulled off the rare series shutout, besting NJ 16-0 over three games, after shutting out Indiana in 2 of 3 games. That’s 5 shutouts in 6 games, with the only other game featuring us getting shutout 2-0.
anyone tell I have been doing the dad thing for a while? lol
I can’t believe how good Joel beck has been to start season, 2 5 hit games. 5 HR 16 RBI
cleaning up my minor leagues, give me a yell before you grab exports plz @AFBL Commish
You got some time. Going to test out a new S+ desktop app for Dave 🙂
On a sadder note I have lost now exactly 3000 games as GM so wooo, Was just updating my OOTP forum signature Thought I’d use with the latest results
Heh, both my RPs that I moved into the rotation are now on the IL for multiple weeks
KY SS Jimmy Williams got hit #2500 this sim
We ran into Colorado’s offense at the wrong time - swept in a 3 game set.. man our pitchers need to settle in
Still not sure what's going on but it's a nice surprise the guys are playing well now even with their old man walkers lol
@mstreeter06 old man walkers...ha...it’s called bionics
Well guys it is Colorado The air gives them a nice letter step
Kentucky’s 19 game winner last year SP Arturo Vega has been hit hard this year - 8 HRs in 28 IP… given up 3 in a game twice this year, surprising one of those wasn’t against the Bears lol
😁😁😁 this is true One of the reasons I like to visit hahaha
I always find a pitcher has a Great season really doesn’t give up homeruns a few seasons down the road all he does is give up homeruns
man just had to tank one more year lol
A heads up for anyone that navigates to afblbaseball.com .. this will now go to the new home landing page for AFBL which still needs to be developed. Just got the WordPress installed and hope to get things added to it today/tomorrow.
I'm also likely going to scrap the Rocket.Chat setup since we can move long-term storage posts to the coming-soon WordPress AFBL blog/homepage.
StatsPlus can now be accessed from afblbaseball.com/statsplus or statsplus.net/afbl (instead of also redirecting from afblbaseball.com)

😄 Already had hopes of that and others doing the same
The accompanying article begins "North Carolina got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Teimua Kirisitopa, but it was good enough..."
As a team, NC is 54 of 59 stealing bases this season.
only four games under .500 but have yet to win two games in a row this year ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I might have to start Josh Garren vsL just to get him the PAs to run at .400. Good lord
Crap that is my fault. Apologies for missing that. I failed to marked that channel as unread.
Colorado SP Alex Pacheco was a HBP away from a perfect game this sim against Oregon
But with that few caught stealing, you’re definitely leaving stolen bases on the table
Had a 21yo pitcher in A throw a Perfect Game. https://www.afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/box_scores/game_box_2586.html
In a few days I traded my 1st round pick and a player who never played well for me for 2 Players I like and then I draft 2 players in the 2nd round I like, feeling good about future now I need to win some games
Hope NM has a good sim. Otherwise we might see Las Vegas players for a while! 🙈
really, 6-0 for NJ.. thoguht we were giving it away this season... lol
10 All-Star games, 9 Platinum Sticks, 4 rings, 3 MVH's... The guy's running out of room for those little award medallions.
BTW, NC got caught stealing 3 times last sim! 7 successful tries.
Norman Cornell one win away from becoming the 3rd pitcher to win 200 games in an NC uniform (joining Ron Carmichael (253) and Don Wilson (217))

to start? if he had a third pitch I would start him, but he is not good
perfect for my bullpen if I had a bad pen might sign him and make him my emergency call up In case of injury
If you're going for the #1 pick start him
I’m considering it, but I already made a fa claim today 🤪
Feels like last place right now but I’m sure we’ll get going somewhat possibly maybe perhaps.
Lost the first 3 won the next 3 Kind a hoping for a better sim What are you gonna do
Oh sorry Totally forgot thanks for the reminder I’ve been reading all day
Sorry guys for the hold up, I’ve been re-reading Harry Potter for the first time in 14 years
200th win for Cornell. Last three games NC had scored 14, 13, and 12 runs. I will be disappointed with anything other than 11 in the next game.
Wow - so i was short players at A ball so i signed bob burke and let him play as an 18 year old. Oops... 26-197 with 3 walks and 92 strikeouts!
Jeff Locke finally having that real breakout season. 7 walks in 83 innings with 96 Ks
My RL and A teams are always horrible and I think it's because of my in-house age limits. Lots of overmatched players on those teams. Doesn't seem to hurt development though.
same for me. although I'm somewhat flexible on the age limits for guys who are organizational filler. the actual prospects I like to challenge though
they have 2 seasons of better than .500 ball and one was our expansion year 2017 when I assure you I had the wrong guys at the wrong levels
Your minor leagues have not made a single playoff appearance in A and rookie league that is impressive
Season debut for SP Lou Hastings got the W!
Also Gianni Girard hit 3 home runs in the same game!
Several more double digit games for NC. Here’s one you don’t see every day; an 11-3 win in 17 innings followed immediately by a 12-6 win in 13 innings.
NC averaging 6.39 runs per game. At this pace we would crush the runs scored record.
Big series with Georgia tomorrow. We are #1 and #2 in the power rankings, separated by a fraction of a point.
@lt - Idaho Jose Campos pitched an excellent game against his old org!
Yes. My bullpen blew 3 games that sim. Brutal season getting worse...
trying to figure out whether I need to claim some FA scrubs to fill in for minor league injuries
We only have 6 or so guys not on list/auto. @mikenewjersey is up with an hour to go
Yeah I plan to sim as normal. It’ll just be a new-normal ordinary day anyways so why break lol 🙂
idk if the weather cooperates it might be a good day for setting fires and day drinking outside
I hope yours is better than ours up in Toronto was a kinda blah day for our Holiday Monday, And Wednesday was just absolutely gorgeous 😕
They should rename that day. Fuck the commonwealth and fuck the queen (not literally)
it looks promising here in virginia - high around 80, sunny, moderate humidity
Went to the league home page - apparently Virginia lost Jason flood for the season - flood has taken the mound for 7 relief appearances this season, nailing down 0 saves while notching an 0-2 record with a 7.04 ERA. The Virginia reliever has LIMITED opposing batters to a .382 batting average...
Have you seen the rest of our pen? That’s shutdown material in VA
Mine is pretty bad too. We blow 2-3 games a week thanks to the pen. Lol
So i demoted 26-197 bob Burke from A to rookie. In 18 games at rookie ball he is 4-65. 30-262. He has struck out 126 times...
as I mentioned the other day I was short on players so I signed him and shoved him there to fill a hole
can't say I'm not tempted to put him in AAA and see how bad that goes
Ah okay. He’s only 2/3/2/1/1. Must have been somebody better to fill the hole in A. I would trade some guys for draft picks if you get desperate enough.
nah, I just needed filler and I didn't want a 23 year old. so I saw he had good work ethic and figured lets give him a go.
Ugh sorry guys got pulled away before and I swore I did but obviously not. I'll see if I have a backup to redo the sim.
I downloaded last nights file, but haven't updated in game yet today - is that what you need?
I also have the copy of the league file prior to last night's sim (in-game date of June 20, 2049) loaded. I did not download the results from last night's sim yet. If that helps...
I've gotten away from taking a backup before each sim which I should be doing 😬
Matt, if you resim I'll need to send you some instructions because I already exported after last night's sim
Basically just demote SP Mario Perez and CF Rob Hanes to AAA and activate Lou Moore and Nick Orchard from the DL, auto staff and lineups.
@Matt Y - Texas Spurs is getting his file from before last night's sim zipped up and will send over. Sounds like we'll be able to re-run the Sim 12. Sorry guys can't believe I did this lol.
now hold on. Oregon went 5-2 including taking 2 of 3 from NC... maybe we can live with this... ;)
Just discovered I had a nice scouting discovery on 6/26. 😕
4-2 instead of 5-1, but no injuries this time around when there were two minor ones last time. I'll take it.
Well, I lost my #4 starter for 13 months thanks to the rerun. (2nd SP I've lost) I reserve teh right to kneecap Matt's SP if I lose the Wild Card. 🤮
wow, exact same sim for NJ, 1-5... and 1 injury, but toa different player
KY is hanging on to first place for now - outperforming our pitching numbers for now, gotta turn it around a little bit.
Swept by Kentucky, but didn’t lose much ground. Feels like I should trade some guys. Getting antsy. 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
Also if you're in multiple leagues that use S+, I also suggest creating and using a StatsPlus login which will allow you to use that login across all of your S+ leagues and keep your Preferences.
If you do this, let me know so I can associate your S+ login with your team as Commish don't get auto notified on new logins to associate yet 🙂.
If you go to the NPBL S+ and select the StatsPlus login credential option, then I can associate that with your TN team over there. Looks like you're just setup with Google creds for NPBL.
Nick Orchard, gone from starting CF hitting .300+ to AAA OF and third on the depth chart for call-ups. I’ve had so many of these one and done players in this league.
No you’re correct at least with bad teams, I still remember John Ford Griffin and Simon Pond coming up for the Blue Jays
Chavez, Taylor, and Span were the only ones to be the primary starter for more than one season (though obviously Harper started somewhere on the club for 7 years)
2004 expos: wilkerson, chavez (127 games in CF), juan rivera, peter bergeron, ryan church
tony batista played 3rd and went off for 32 HR and 110 rbi - i had purged that from my memory banks
The minute Washington actually acknowledged that they used to be the Expos they won the World Series so They better do another throwback day
it irritates me that they un-retired the old expos retired numbers
I've had to start locking my computer at home but apparently failed to last time I was in here haha
Oh lord I thought it said Choppy Orozco broken neck... fortunately it said bruised.
Do you know if you can delete my statsplus account so I can re-use my email?
The nice thing about being 60-27 is you can sit Choppy for a week even though he could still play. Not taking any chances.
Yeah Garren is far and away our best bat. I mean we will still be in the WC mix but the last month hasn’t been kind to the VDC. Need to get this squad to California stat
I think your offense could still be pretty good. Saito can carry a lot of the weight with Garren out, and if someone could light a fire under Tony Johnston's tail you'd be set.
I think Silva in CF and Johnston is LF would work a lot better defensively. Unfortunately Garren is really good in the field too.
I know Johnston doesn't have a rating in LF right now but with his defensive ratings he'd get a better rating there than his current CF rating within a few weeks I'd bet.
Yeah I was trying to get by with Johnston in CF but I think this injury means it’s probably time to put him in a corner
Looks like he's got a couple gold gloves there but he's definitely lost some range
Interesting voting in the PL SP category. Only 6 different pitchers have received votes. 0 for Teimua Kirisitopa who is 10-2 with a 3.11 ERA, although that's probably because he's been super hot in his last 5 starts so anyone who voted a few days ago would've seen much different stats
Which is why I think early voting is meh, better do my votes now before I forget
Ya I like to wait until the sim before the ASG sim is complete so we have all stats
You’ll want to go to https://statsplus.net/afbl/awards?league=100#ballotlist and submit your ballot there
I prefer to vote right before the ASG but lately I’ve been doing it early because I can’t reliably have time at the last minute
also I just vote for all my own guys anyway so it only matters for the other league
i vote early as part of my vote early vote often slogan. sadly Matt doesn't let me vote often.
Actually I think people should only get one vote In real life too Popular players don’t deserve to go to the All-Star games just because they are popular But then again I’m weird and that’s the draw for some people
I am with you - i prefer the heat players in the all star game. I just like saying vote early vote often
Need ASG ballots from: WV @Taylor (WV/AL), MD @steve e, KY @Zach - KY, GA @tjsmith7georgia, NJ @mikenew_jersey, ON @x24rocks
Due in about 90 or so minutes. If you'll be a few minutes late, please ping me and I can hold off https://statsplus.net/afbl/awards?league=100#ballotlist
Illinois’s 1B Rigsby is on fire this year! 30 HRs at the break!
Sean Garnett tells me while appreciates being selected, he will not be wearing a Washington “get-up” during the game.
I made the initial comment because you had him listed as WA in all star selections. Then I looked to check if there was one on WA and also looked at NM and there he was in WA hat!
Guess he was playing a joke on me for making up a quote from him lol
@AFBL Commish Would you please change Sean Garnett’s nickname to “Spooky”?
Jared Howell hit 8 HRs in 12 games in rehab at Las Vegas. I think he’s ready to come back. Hopefully it’ll continue.
Choppy is back but now I'm going to give a week off to Flash, who has a short D2D injury. Not taking any chances
Run Differential currently at +208. Georgia at +124 is the only other team over +100
This will likely be the final season of future Hall of Famer Cedric Boyd’s career. 3,230 hits at present has him 9th all-time, and his career batting average of .338 is 3rd all-time. His #11 will never be worn by another Bridegroom immediately upon retirement.
I’ve been waiting for him to retire because I wanted his number to go first. Then we have some MD cult legends to go back and look at and I’ve kept a spreadsheet of all-time numbers
i think “the sunday closest to 7/31” probably makes the most sense re: deadline
Yeah probably a better way to word it so we can keep with our Sunday through Saturday sim schedule
Reyes hasn't pitched since spring training, he's made 2 rehab starts. No earned runs but a little bit walk-y, and they were 4 and 5 innings respectively
I usually do 1 sim, which is 1 or 2 starts. If the numbers are bad, I give it another week.
At least one sim to ward off the injury-from-coming-back-too-soon-thing if there is such a thing. Then as soon as they don’t look rusty or time runs out.
I think Cisco Martinez has finally turned the corner so Juan Ortiz is going to have to learn to be utility player or else stay in Las Vegas.
One last “meta” comment on Boyd... he’s a player who had the beginning of his career in OOTP18 like all the older players of this generation. I always wonder what his numbers would have looked like if his career was just in 19.
We'll push back tonight's sim and the rest of the week's sims a day. So we'll break tonight then will sim Wed-Thurs-Fri. Trade Deadline gets another day of dealing 🙂.
Guys sorry I have to have hernia surgery next Thursday so have been running around getting blood tests and covid swabs last few days. Should be a one-day thing and then recoup for a few weeks so I’ll be around
Who turned up the injury setting this season?! Think I'm at a record number of major injuries in my system. 7 Labrums (plus one on a second go around) 4 elbows and one cuff. Those are all major multi-month hits!
Yeah pitchers only though. Hitters are fine. Thankfully the major league team is rocking.
I see what you did there 😉
I built up a five game lead now this is good
Also lost my worst starter for 3 weeks This could be a blessing or a curse
Swept by NY in a 2-4 sim. Still hanging around, but running out of time.
Yea thanks Jeff...we needed that. We were within 1 game and decided to take a nose dive that last couple sims
Yeah Was kind of disappointed New Mexico didn’t put up more of a fight, My lead for the division could’ve been even bigger LOL
New Jersey's Bob Holmes got his 2000th career hit this sim @mikenewjersey
NY has turned the heat back up after a couple trash sims. Problem is Ontario is hotter. They have had a great month.
The Mighty Aviators are 12-12 in August so far, and that's with winning the last two games.
Turd Newton posted a 9.9 WAR in 2047, 6.1 in 2048, and is 1.8 so far in 2049.
Bobby Godwin is really wanting a shot at 1B with Newton diminishing, but Godwin is just good at the plate while Newton is a gold-glover who can steal bases.
Nope, Steve Larsen is there, 7/8/7/6/7 and a better baserunner than Godwin.
Godwin is 7/7/8/4/6... He's got a 3 at 1B vs Larsen's 2, so both are better in the DH role than on the field.
I'm guessing Larsen's 7 in power is a low 7, close to a 6, as the only has 19 HR per 162 games in his career and he's a lefty in a lefty-friendly ballpark.
there are a remarkable number of guys in this league who have no place anywhere on the field
this keeps me from playing Jeff Geddes, who has a pretty good outfield arm and doesn’t make many errors but evidently takes a lawn chair with him out there
I have a 20-year-old outfielder in my minors who can hit rhp but cannot field so When injuries happen other players get called up before him 😕
I know I won't get any sympathy from you all but after having a starting lineup with everyone over .300 last year, Nick Orchard's and Turd Newton's regressions have left me with a couple of hitters in the .200's
Sweep of Kentucky in a 4-2 sim. Three games back of the second wildcard spot with a month of tough games left. Looking pretty iffy.
Colorado lost SP Álex Pacheco for the season in an already iffy rotation but got back SP Jorge Ramírez from the IL. Bears are banged up so should be a fun final month or so in the FL West.
I said my hitters were avoiding the injury bug, and then my ROY 1B and C both go down for the month. And yet I'm closing in on Virginia. Huerta 9ip 4H 16K 0Bb 0R
Ontario has come alive since Ty Hinkle Came back from injury, It really didn’t improve me that much because I had traded for Micah Jackson but Pitching’s been great, hitting has been off the charts, I was scared New York was going to pass me But my team has come through so far
Another 4-2 sim. Managed to catch up to the Bears and tie for the last wildcard spot. Cisco Martinez has been hot last two sims. At long last finally showing some power. Lost closer Vasquez for a year but our relief pitching is pretty deep.
Made up another game now 1 GB of NC for #1 overall record. AND of course I lose TWO more players. Top Setup for 8 months and starting CF for a month. HOW!? WHY!?
Law of averages in full affect for me. That good pitching I got early in the year when I was expecting mediocre pitching is now horrible so it will look mediocre when all is said and done.
Didn’t start off so well but ended very well and Bonus 2 Homer game from Mike Carlton
Rotation is a mess but offense can usually outhit people I suppose 😎
was looking at some of my top hitters and they’re all like 150 or 200 points OPS better on the road
Not happy with 3-3, but not unhappy either since it was against Washington, Ontario and Oregon.
what’s strange is the effect doesn’t seem as pronounced for the pitchers. Leonardo Mendoza has even been better on the road than at home this year.
oof, tough sim for California. They’re probably out of reach for the wild card now
Yea....that was a rough sim for us.... Sucks too because our trade deadline moves have helped
Post All-Star Game PL South Standings:
Georgia - 31-19
Virginia - 26-24
West Virginia - 26-24
North Carolina - 25-25
Maryland - 22-28
Things ought to turn around for NC during our 3-game set vs Ontario, because all of the organization's mascots will be on hand to rally the troops. In addition to Orville and Wilbur, Sir Walter Rally from the Raleigh Explorers, Stinky the Green Sock from the Greensboro Green Sox, Bluebeard from the OBX Privateers and Grubby the Grasshopper from the Delray Beach Grasshoppers will make appearances and try their best to sign autographs and hype up the Aviators crowd, which has grown accustomed to winning and does not seem as entertained recently with the club playing .500 ball since the All-Star break.
They should drop the others out to glide into the ballpark. I’d come see that.
Orville and Wilbur struggle to get their flying machine to make it from left field to right field during the 7th inning stretch.
So they fly over center (some of the time at least)? That’s awesome.
We need to rethink our marketing in New Mexico. All we’ve got are bottles of glowing green goo that nobody buys. And the occasional mutant that wanders by, but they’re not really mascots. Maybe if we captured a few...
Not sure what happened but StatsPlus didn't send any of the results to your team's results channel. Sent Dave (S+ founder) a message about it.
Drat known bug with Commishes that use S+ for multiple league that I happened to catch tonight
yeah, got to be careful when switching leagues as sometimes it doesn't switch properly and copies settings from one league to another in s+
usually slow and wait to switch then exit s+ but I must have been too quick tonight
got to wait for the 'flash' or 'flick' to happen... before closing the settings window...can sometimes be delayed by a second or two on my machine
Happily my decision to change who was pitching versus North Carolina work 😁
August wasn't to great either. At the trade deadline we were 1 game out from both Div and WC...yikes
2 game lead now. Lost my 3B for 4 months to a labrum. I do get my 1B back next week. Currently 8 ML on the DL.
Ya man not sure what Georgia did to the OOTP gods to deserve all of the injuries this year 😬
no rush at all but curious if there's an rough guess as to sim time tonight
(mostly trying to figure out if I should plan on staying up late or checking it in the morning)
About to start once I get StatsPlus setup again (ugh). So should be in the next 20-30 min.
With 13 games left, it's time for NC Aviators record watch...
Choppy Orozco is currently batting .368, which would break Flash Rodriguez's team record of .363 set last season.
Flash Rodriguez will set the team SLG% record, he's slugging at .656 while 2nd place is .614...
Flash and Choppy right now have OPS's of 1.063 and 1.019, which would be #1 and #2 in team history if the season ended today.
If Choppy can manage 17 runs scored in in the final 13 games, he'll tie his own team record of 140 runs.
NM still a game back of Colorado for second wildcard with Texas heating up.
I had to reach to find even a single pitching record within range this year. 😉
7 games left on the season which we'll wrap up tomorrow night. Good luck in the final sim!
Since we were talking about records I was gonna say there’s only one record that has a chance of being beaten and that’s the homerun record for my team that was set in 2015 and tied in 2019
Because I didn’t really think that Mike Daniels would get eight doubles in 13 games Thought it was possible but not likely well I think I might’ve been wrong
so, it looks like my exports for the last 2 days haven't been processed? I have a valid export note in Slack. But I reload the roster and my update is not showing. Any idea? Version is fine.
I don’t think my changes were processed yesterday either come to think of it
My only guess with yesterday is the StatsPlus app crash/reset but not sure on that. I’m fairly positive I actually grabbed exports.
oh I mean it appears mine took in that I didn’t get called out yesterday by the app
I’m not worried about it but I’d like to figure it out ahead of the playoffs
weird. I have moved Frank Russell to the big league club 2 sims in a row and he stayed in AAA.
Yeah I was beginning to think I was crazy, last 2 sims my changes didn’t take at all. I kept calling a player up to replace an injury and kept running with 25. First time I thought I somehow exported before I made the change, made the change and then didn’t reexport. This past sim I for sure had made the change and it didn’t take
I'm also seeing the same thing over the past two sims - roster promotions from AAA to the bigs aren't sticking, even though it reports that my export is valid.
Hmm concerning. I'll message Dave (StatsPlus) to see if there's anything.
For it to be the past 2 sims and that's when the S+ Desktop App got messed up, I'm guessing/hoping it's because of that. I'm pretty confident I didn't forget to actually grab exports like previously this season. Apologies guys I'll get this figured out.
You definitely pulled in exports the last two sims (unless the statsplus app can check them but not do it?)
Well, NM caught the Bears but then lost two straight to them to fall two back. With remaining schedule looks likely we’ll miss the playoffs.
Yep we went 6-0, I think, in the last sim last season against Oregon and Washington. But Colorado has a bit easier schedule. Not giving up, just disappointed in our mediocre play lately.
Some bright spots. September call up Mike Woodard was great in September, as was SS Cisco Martinez. And Las Vegas is a win away from their third straight AAA title.
Oops forgot rookie Bob McCrary who is now second to Blais for the FL batting title.
Dominic Bennett is hitting .376 but must not have enough PA to qualify. He’s right behind McCrary in AB so he must be close.
McCrary has 521 PA and Bennett only 480. I think you need 502 in season to qualify so Bennett needs 22 in seven games to sneak in (assuming he keeps hitting). Could happen.
3.1 PA/game times 155 is 480.5. So Bennett at 480 is so close right now. He’s got a 14-game hitting streak and has had two hits in each of his last five.
NM pitching is not helping 21-year-old McCrary’s chances. Gave up 6 hits to 37-year-old Blais in last two games. Arrrgh.
Devlyn Blais was FL Rookie of the Year in 2033. McCrary with a 5.3 WAR is a contender this year for ROY. 🤞
I have no clue what to expect for the final 7 games. Bears have been hot and cold this last part of the season.
GA ongoing injuries... #3 starter Guillou went down with 2 weeks to go, but only out for 2 weeks. Then this sim, his recovery is reset to undetermined. But this may mean he's locked down the ERA title. Getting my 1B, C and CF back this week right in time for the playoffs. With no time to ease them back in. So naturally my DH/RF goes down with blurry vision for a week. I think you mean the GM has blurry vision from pounding his head on the keyboard. Have a new 3B to break-in in a week. Thanks to the last injury and sim hiccup he hasn't played yet. But hey, first place, can't complain! Just craziness.
My dilemma is should I be cheering for Georgia or should I be cheering for North Carolina because Whoever doesn’t win I have to face
Do we know if anyone did have their export changes stick for either of the last 2 sims?
it amuses me that we all thought we were the problem until Travis said something
Next sim: Game 7 in the Liberty League West championship between Orlando (NM) and Ocala (WA). Winner will play Bradenton for the Liberty Cup.
maybe a simple thing, but when's the last time you restarted your computer, @AFBL Commish?
Well looks like last reboot was the 9th so good idea can’t hurt. Always my go-to for my end-users at work too 😂 .
I’m still second guessing myself about if I actually imported exports or not
That seems like the most likely unless it’s as stupid as needing a reboot or something
I just submitted an export - if you want to keep an eye on it later, probably the easiest thing to look for is activating Frank Baker from the IL and putting Rodrigo Gomez onto the IL
Honestly we should all just look at @lt - Idaho any way Because I was randomly looking at export history and in all the available history between both leagues he had only missed four exports
I don’t take a ton of time to do much. I download, poke around and upload
Lol Technically it should be that way for all of us lol But that kind of dedication you could run your own league
Also helps that i spend all week alone in Houston and have nothing to do at night.
@Matt Y - Texas Spurs gave me a screenshot of his changes and they look like they are in Texas's export
Something I can check for others that noticed previously before I start simming?
Honestly think I somehow didn't actually grab exports the last 2 nights rather than some weird issue locally with my computer or StatsPlus.
I love the notifications just not when I’m reading an article on my phone
Ya I'd turn on the DnD for however long if you don't want to mute your team's results channel
You bet. A reason we only run sims as RTS for special occasions or the playoffs 😄.
Not too concerned about results here, running a lineup of backups. Just want everyone to stay healthy. I am using my regular rotation though.
It would be cool if the RTS would go at-bat by at-bat instead of skipping around like it does.
Dominic Bennett snuck in and won the FL batting title. Las Vegas was up 3-0 in the Explorers Cup Series and lost four straight to Hampton Roads. No third consecutive Cup for the Dons.
Orlando is up 3-1 in the Rookie League finals against Bradenton. Just need one more win…kind of like Vegas…so we’ll see.
What a way to end the season walk-off and Once again Ed Sexton Jr. Record will stand for another season
This kind of gives me hope that I can beat you 😬😁 but Knowing my luck you’re gonna sweep me in 4 games
was just checking out the NJ history, we've had 3 big runs of making the playoffs 9 years 2013-2021, 8 years 2024-2031, 7 years 2040-2046 - and in each of those 3 runs, we've only won the AFBL title once ... looking at the trend our next run at the playoffs will only last 6 years 😞
maybe this means Oregon and NC will face off in the federation cup finals, but I suspect it just means we’ll both have early exits 😉
Longtime Explorer Hisamitsu Ito has retired. In his prime he was a great defender with a marginal bat who was also a great team leader. But he’s lost a step on each side and spent this year in AAA.
when putting somebody on the IL before exporting, I noticed it was the “playoff IL” and the game said he’d have to miss the next series (which is the wildcard). Has OOTP finally implemented injury replacements on playoff rosters?
I’ve got my votes in for the awards. HOF is going to take some thought probably
if this series is true to Oregon form all year, we’ll see high scoring games in Washington and pitchers’ duels in Oregon
also I think this is the second year in a row of the border war in the playoffs
Going to be tough to do the same in North Carolina but of course I can hope
Wow. Escaped NM with a game 3 victory to pull ahead 2-1 in the series!
Ontario really isn't hitting any better than us as a team, with the exception of Ty Hinkle... Hinkle is 10-for-12, lol...
you need to start throwing at him
He has been the catalyst of my season And yeah he has been outstanding in these 3 games
My team is left-handed dominant so I was surprised that we actually were able to win against the Lefty’s
Ya this is very true, I Noticed this when planing for playoffs tho the big difference is your top guys are all Lefties which I didn’t think would be good when I only carry 2 lefty’s that are good at getting lefty’s out.
Going to be a interesting 4/5/6 if I you guys get hot
I hope we can. The way we've played since Aug. 1 has me concerned for next season. Aviators can't find their mojo
Sounds good @Zach - KY. I'll run Sim 2 after the NPBL sim upload stuff finishes. Thanks for the update!
Decided to make a change to my Lineup and it worked tho Ty didn’t get a single hit 😕
I am equally as shocked but thanks @chappy first time in LCS since 2035
at this point I assume @AFBL Commish fell into a wormhole
Game 4 stunk for me. Misread the date and sent my #4 starter out who had a day-to-day hamstring issue. Would rather have used my ace on short rest. Now we need to sweep the last 3.
Thanks @tjsmith7_georgia good series and season man. Would’ve preferred to top ya at full strength
Ontario has owned us all year, winning 9 of 12 and taking every series, so our luck might have run out.
😑😑 The AI is stupid why was the pitcher still ugh, Guess I got a check my settings again foghorn Has been shit this postseason
If that’s game 1, I can’t imagine the rest of the series!
You’re starting him in the playoffs lol But I will always have hope for him lol
If I could manage the game, Ward would be out after the third. 🙂
I spose I could have put a pitch count on him. Didn't think of it.
I am enjoying it a lot better though my first baseman and his first game back got hurt again 😔
Came up just short! I was expecting some fireworks in the late evenings
Good Games so far on either side hopefully a Good showing for me in Virginia
If I’m reading the box score right my starter hit 3 guys with pitches last game 😅
Just miss Williams, he’s 37 and can’t take that kind of damage anymore
At least the AI is smart enough to put my closer in Tho my set up guy should’ve pitched
OK won the game I did not expect to win still 2-1 after 3 was the Expectation I’m happy
Oh yeah I definitely agree but I do have to check my settings because in my solo league It’s a lot better, Tho that is what I like about 21 it’s bit better
He’s been good all year. Not the most talented ratings-wise but a wiley veteran
He’s a toolbag but he’s settled into his stopper role nicely fingers crossed
Honestly I really only traded him because my team needed A personality boost
Hopefully we survive the movement rating of 3 from Kichikawa, tonight’s starter!
Sounds like we’ll be able to continue the LCS tonight. I’ll sim around our normal sim time ~830pm CDT. Good luck guys!
Yeah we’re doing pretty good tho Still time for Virginia to come back and they’re not a bad team
Wheeler has really struggled out of the bullpen after a solid regular season campaign
Yeah been dominant in the series I see why you’re using in the stopper role
Ever since reading Baseball By The Numbers I’m sold on the fireman / stopper
I have used it a couple times in my solo universe tho I believe I’m a little bit more modern in my bullpen
I honestly blame OOTP 5 for that lol I was young and impressionable And their game was an advanced enough
My first Long term real universe outside of 6.5 was in 9 I was super disappointed when I lost it
I’m old school. I don’t like the opener follower shit. I get the stopper concept but wonder if it just overuses arms
Yeah idk about openers, but stoppers work with those 2 pitch guys who have good stamina
You figure if a guy has 8-10 stamina he can go 150+ innings each season, but it’s a little unrealistic to expect them to go almost every game, so 3ish innings every 2-3 games is manageable.
Thanks @jeheinz72 I got really nervous after game 1 for real, you have a good team will be back here soon
I'll run the FL LCS Game 7 whenever @Zach - KY is good to go. Good luck to him and @John_Washington as they battle for the Frontier League title.
Congrats to @jeheinz72 on an awesome season and the soon to be California Bulldogs 😎 will be back. Congrats to @x24rocks on winning the Patriot League. Blue Pirates are tough!
Still waiting on a Playoffs module/section in StatsPlus so this is one area that StatsLab beats it https://www.matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab/playoffs.php
Ohh Let’s do this, I get home field if Washington wins I am on the road if Kentucky wins
I should have a chance to run KY-WA Game 7 after the NPBL sim upload stuff finishes. Good luck to @Zach - KY and @John_Washington
I have exported before game 7, just refresh my 7 day line ups and I’m good to go
Got two great SP performances from Chet Ward and Dan Bruce. Talk about unsung heroes.
glad to see Washington move on, it lets me make the case that Oregon was the second best team in the FL this year. ;)
So I was curious how NC got the top two hitters in the league, but when I go to their HTML pages it doesn't show how they were acquired. That's a bug or something, right?
I think both were scouting discoveries, but that def sounds like a bug to me...
HTML and game don't show history for players prior to sometime in 2047.
A few changes await Ontario.
Will Ward or Bruce or someone else be the fourth man in rotation?
And a surprise roster change in the infield.
I hope Al Gahary Will decide to show up for the finals he could be the Ex factor
yeah we discovered the missing histories a couple of seasons back but never figured out a solution
I’ll need to investigate when I have some time. I have a backup of each season in Almanacs.
I have the final 19 file so if we can find a txt file combiner it would be an easy fix
Wondering if a checkbox or something got lost for a setting on my end maybe?
I'll start the 2049 Federation Cup Series tonight after I finish the NPBL sim currently in progress. Good luck and congrats to @x24rocks and @John_Washington!
Can’t wait good luck @John_Washington I know this will be a good series
Good luck back at ya. Winning would be tough with my ace starter on DL. But we got this far, so . . .
except when they hit home runs
As somebody from Toronto losing the first game doesn’t really bother me so much 😁
Well thank you very much because foghorn usually gives up a lot of runs
Maybe he will get hot as well cause he was ICE cold during first 2 rounds
Smart manager would’ve put a different pitcher in Before the bases were loaded
Saved the rest of your pen and shut us down, You can’t ask for much more
Damm but They brought in my set up guy and he shut the rally down Let’s get that run back
Ahh dam Chet I was hoping for that classic ward pitching you showed when you pitched here
This was a pitching game and then i end the game with 2 reliever of the year award winners
Any changes for you guys @x24rocks @John_Washington? Scheduled to upload a new file after Game 2 but can keep going or make changes for you if you want.
Juan Gonzalez gets start. Two starts back Chet Ward got start in this rotaion spot. LAst start for this spot was rookie Dan Bruce. Both pitched well. But now it Gonzalez' turn.
But yeah my company is doing Stagger returns so I’m here All week working for different people wanting different things It’s the worst
Gonzalez started for California in 43 in the playoffs so Not a bad choice has the experience
Let’s hope he is better this time, Also I swear I have him as avoid high leverage
He was having a bad season until July and then he went off and has been hot
A few shake ups, but can't do anything about bottom of order Garza-Campos-Xarito without compromising the defense. Need the stars to get hot.
In that last game Garcia sacrificing Murdock to second won the game when Wynn singled Murdock home. Then it just took Magana getting out of the last of the ninth with runners on first and third with NO ONE out - he struck out Brin and got Daniels to hit into a game-ending double play (walk off DP?). Exemplifies the importance of keeping Xarito at SS despite his pathetic hitting all year.
Oh yeah defence wins games 100% Double plays a big for you in the series, I’ve never been a Sacrifice guy But yeah That really is what helped you win
Also, in the bottom of the ninth Coker led off with a double. Good that he's not a good base runner because he couldn't score on Beck's line drive single to left center. LF Campos has a "10" arm, so he didn't dare try. And he ended up stranded on third.
I’m honestly surprised farmer didn’t PR I have it set to high for ninth-inning +1/-1
Yeah, that might have made the difference and we'd still be playing.
I love how this series has had big scoring game then tight game Keeps us both on our toes
I'm tempted to start Villareal in that fourth rotation spot with a pitch count of like 70. Did I? Maybe, maybe not.
Please don’t I can’t seem to get a hit off him lol And who would anchor your bullpen 😛
Injuries to Cruz and McDaniel late in year make it tough although McDaniel wasn't himself this year.
WA had a nice comeback in the FL finals against us last year too. Still stings a bit.
santiago prolly has one more inning before his pitch count kicks in
Got a find my offence the next game And for gods dammit, My pitchers never pitch this many innings in a row during the regular season ughh
It’s lunchtime So definitely, I got a return the favour for you winning two games in Ontario
It’s always better to win on the road, And rub it in the Home crowds faces
As a fan who was at a potential finals clinching game in 2019 it is much better but since I’m playing against you Nahh It’s Overrated 😝
I horribly mismanaged MI for most of the year. I'm shocked they recovered enough to make the WC.
Crazy things Happen in those playoffs, I think a below 500 team wow the title one year
Would love to beat you in the playoffs 😂 Obviously if I don’t win this series
I tried to trade Andrews, Norton, and someone else, but the offers were underwhelming. MI has no minor league system.
Oh man but hey Maybe If they do well in the playoffs someone will want to take them off your hands, I like trading in this league more for some reason
There’s a lot of crossover so I think it’s understandable, And who doesn’t get excited for playoff baseball
Yes I wasn’t paying close attention while looking back and forth at the game at the same time.
Ha sorry guys being put to work in the yard this morning 🙂. I'll be starting the sim in the next 5-10 minutes!
I told you not to choose New Mexico in both leagues @jeffnewmexico
You’re hitting is top notch though With my 2 best hitter basically Silent It was tough But yeah congratulations man Makes up for last year’s loss
Heh, only one WA hitter over .300 for the postseason: Pepe Bautista called up for the final series.
Congrats @John_Washington !
Yes! Another Cup for the FL West! Sadly, my last cheer for the West (assuming we are still realigning). 🙃
I need to get the Virginia @jeheinz72, West Virginia @Taylor (WV/AL), and Indiana @Josh V.-IN/AZ Vipers plans finalized. California is all set to move to Minnesota @Jason_Mallards.
Scheduled to realign like this...
FL West:
Washington Resonance
Oregon Explorers
Idaho Steelheads
California Bulldogs (Virginia Diamond Club)
Arizona Vipers (Indiana Vipers)
FL East:
Colorado Bears
New Mexico Danger
Texas Spurs
Minnesota Mallards (California Mallards)
Illinois Warhawks
PL North:
Ontario Blue Pirates
New York Twin Towers
New Jersey Athletics
Pennsylvania Railroaders
Maryland Bridegrooms
PL South:
Ohio Knights
Kentucky Lions
North Carolina Aviators
Georgia Titans
Alabama Yellowhammers (West Virginia Hollers)
Think I just need new stadium correct? Was going to update the minor league city names too. Will get those to you soon.
Have no idea what the East will be like. Colorado keeps getting older but they keep finding ways to stay in it. Age is going to have to kick in at some point.
Minnesota, Illinois and Texas seem due to rise up before long. Kentucky moving might speed that up. Hoping NM can win the division in 2050 before all hell breaks loose.
I guess at least we’ll have two clubs on the rebuild part of the cycle (Idaho and Indiana->Arizona)
Minor league team names: Rochester Spartans (AAA), Duluth Knights (AA), Saint Cloud Water Wolves , Mankato North Stars (R). Only one that should need a logo change are the North Stars. I will go with the class Minnesota North Stars logo: https://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/391/Minnesota_North_Stars/1986/Primary_Logo
I think that should be all you need from the Mallards. If you think of anything else, let me know!
@Jason_Mallards All rookie league teams for all franchises are located in Florida.
NM was 6-6 vs CA, 6-6 vs IL, 7-5 vs TX and 6-12 vs CO in 2049. Not very encouraging. 🤷♂️
Wow our best record was against WA 14-4. I don’t remember it being that good.
I think this might be the first time I'm in a division with @jeheinz72 despite like 10 or 15 years of real world time in the same leagues
The Patriot League South loses an up and coming Virginia squad and the best last-place team in Maryland and picks up the teams with the most wins (Kentucky) and fewest wins (Ohio) in the AFBL this season.
This will definitely shift the league a bit but I think it'll be a fun reshuffling
What’s the schedule for moving to next season? No hurry, just curious.
A new file today and probably then another one tomorrow/Thursday to get us to the start of Spring Training 2050. Monday will start ST sim week.
Any idea why some players don’t have facegen photos? Playing around with uniform ideas led me to creating team pictures and some of the players are missing. They have faces when you rollover a name in the Lineup view etc., but not in the space at the upper left of the player page. Some just have logos there which then show up in the team picture.
Its kind of fun to try and conjure up personalities from the team picture. When they are all together it’s much more interesting than seeing one at at time.
@jeffnewmexico clear/delete the files in AFBL.lg\news\html\images\profile_pictures while AFBL is closed, then the profile pictures should regenerate next time you visit each player page
Hmmm that worked in that it does generate new pictures for the guys that had pictures, but the same guys are still missing when I go to their pages. It doesn’t regenerate for them.
And it generates the same picture, I think, for players that had pictures. So there must be info to create it associated with the player somewhere else. But that info must be missing from the player data of players that don’t get pictures? 🤷♂️
I think that show “In Plain Sight” was set in New Mexico. About Witness protection. And then there is Roswell. So you may be right. It’s in the air out there.
The rollover pictures that pop up on the lineups/pitching screens show pictures but the uniforms are from high school or college I think,
I have one or two guys on my roster showing up in uniforms not from my system too
case in point Conner Mendelson here (see the batting average team leader slot): https://afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/teams/team_75.html
I’ve just chalked it up as a personal oddity that it’s his favorite uniform he’s worn
also I see he hit 7 of his 15 career HS home runs as a 13-year-old freshman
Yep Mendelson is one of those guys without a profile pic on his player page.
normally what I mentioend fixes that @jeffnewmexico - can also ask @AFBL Commish to re-run the player update, which will update player_face.dat or whatever it's called, then do what I mentioned and it should work
Same here. Got notified guys that were released retired. Never noticed that before.
I’m legitimately surprised a couple of them didn’t catch on in the indy league ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Zero retirements for me (aside from players I've already cut ties with), so I guess I'll be pruning come draft time again.
Dave White won't sniff the Hall of Fame but he was a mainstay on the Oregon roster since the mid-late 30s.
he likely falls short of the HOF as closers generally do. 2 time reliever of the year, 7 time all star, 4 time champ.
at the moment I mostly ignore stats and rely on seeing an overwhelming number of all star and ROY awards
Gonzalez had the ridiculous 2046 season, 7-1 0.55 ERA. 66 IP, 4 ER 80K
Because Roberto Mallet And Bob Jones are in the HOF We have a high end for relievers but they are a good measuring stick if you don’t usually vote for relievers
personally I think he needed 1 more good season to have a shot. Of course I will vote for him 🙂
Tony Jackson (former Texas reliever) is a reliever that might should have made it in. 2.20 career ERA, 414 saves, 0.98 WHIP (4th best all time).
Anibal Gonzalez will probably have my vote in a few years. I typically auto-vote for anyone with 10+ awards. Not sure I always count titles since they are a team accomplishment.
Jesus Flores retires 😞 https://afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/players/player_9305.html
With the way last season ended, it's the first time in a long time there hasn't been an air of optimism in NC. It's not like we just got swept out of the playoffs. We were below .500 over a two month stretch.
Ya we'll do the extra 2-3 days tonight to get ST completed. Then Opening Day on Monday!
NC's 4-11 record is not a good sign. I mean, every single player is playing out of position except for my Catcher, but still...
C Flash Rodriguez is learning 1B
1B Turd Newton is learning LF
AAA 1B Bobby Godwin is learning 2B
3B Jim Simpson is learning SS
SS Rod Crews is learning 3B
LF Choppy Orozco is learning CF
CF Nick Orchard is learning RF
Backup catcher Jose Rodriguez is just getting playing time at catcher.
I have a few guys getting reps at first base but mostly not playing people out of position
I do this a lot in the Minors So that all my outfielders know all three positions if possible, Though I have slacked a little bit in my online leagues
So by the time that people get to the majors they at least know two positions
it gets tricky though b/c top priority is getting at bats for the best prospects
Yeah that’s true, Which is why I like guys And later rounds to come out with multiple positions already lo
I try to get at bats for prime prospects at the position they will probably be starting at. Primes can usually learn new positions quickly if needed.
And players that might end up on ML bench I cross-train as much as possible by using them as backups at multiple positions. And/or starting at multiple positions if there are no potential starters in front of them. Pretty lax about this though. Need to put some time into it.
yeah I usually just pick a new position for those guys every year and train them up
I could do more with the backing up at 3 spots every 4th game or something but that's a lot of work 😉
Yeah i usually give them 2 months Work at a position so they can Learn anything new, Unless I don’t have anyone else fighting for playing time at that position
I really should use ST more like this myself to help guys learn new positions for more roster flexibility
I do this in the minors, haven't considered doing it during ST - maybe I will try next year.
Quite a few tough decisions this spring. Have a feeling Oklahoma City (once upon a time Las Vegas) is going to be pretty good though.
I have a good 22 year old pitcher but my next best 3 are all AA or lower. With all of my veteran SPs fading fast, I'm in a pickle. With my offense, I might be able to outscore people, but we are not built for postseason play. I don't really want to sacrifice the future to bridge the gap between my current pitchers and my future pitchers, but I may have to. It will be an interesting season, and I learned nothing from the spring.
Yeah I had some really tough cuts to my squad - especially in the pen. Offense was made a bit easier by an injury, but still, my AAA squad is gonna be pretty darn good lol
even balancing playing time in AAA I had to send some good dudes to AA
Updated afblbaseball.com with a new post about the 2050 season and our Arizona vacancy.
If you'd like an account for the AFBL WordPress to write team articles and such, ping me and we can get that setup as I hope to get things all finished up with it. Thanks!
Just realized I have two free agent signings in the rotation, Woodard from ‘44 and Mata from ‘47.
Yep, both were surprises. Mata probably not quite ready yet but i'm throwing him into the fire.
Seems like my squad just needed a little sunshine to show their true abilities
I was perfectly happy with 5-3 until I saw how Washington and California started
4-4 start. We are hitting the crap out of the ball but it all apparently landed in the hands of our pitchers because that’s what they threw.
AAA Oklahoma City had a crazy first week. 7-1, 124 hits, 51 for extra bases. Scored 79 and allowed 29.
Mike Hill, with four home runs so far in OC, rejoins the Danger while Tony Ortiz recovers from his dtd.
5-1 sim. Pitching calmed down, allowing 12 runs over the six games. Leading the division by two.
Tied for the 2nd best record in AFBL, and the largest division deficit
I’m in third place at 9-5, 4 games back, but would be leading 2 other divisions and 1 gb in the third
Going to see how quickly and how well Sean Butler learns 1B while he’s down in AAA. Bugs me I can’t find a way to use him. Maybe pinch hitter if I go with 11 pitchers.
If things don’t turn around, it will be interesting to see how much Flash & Choppy are worth on the trade circuit.
there is a slight but non-zero chance I'll get my minor-league rosters down to size tonight
ok I'm back at the keyboard - do I have long enough to be worth making some more cuts?
4-2 sim. Sean Butler up to two (from zero) at 1B after one week. Will be interesting to see how high he gets. .447/505/.718 after 20 games in AAA.
Ontario Blue Pirates blog post is up Check it out on the homepage if you like

Awesome first write-up by @John_Washington https://afblbaseball.com/?p=455
ohhhhhh the fact that there’s a UBL team in Virginia now is probably giving @jeheinz72 updates in his private channel
no it was just in the regular highlights channel - I just saw Nevada score 23, and Utah in there and was all sorts of confused
Ahh yes. The state of Virginia had 2 teams for 2049 to cope with the loss of VDC in 2050 and beyond lol.
NC looking better... nearing .500... but lost our top reliever for the majority of the season.
Several Bears shifting to the Patriot League North which will help make that division a fun race to watch
If there's any content from anyone's team writeup channels with Slack/Rocket.chat that they would like to retain, let me know and I can pull that for you to move to your WordPress blog.
If you can just send me the text file that would be great.
yeah send it to me in email if you don’t mind and I’ll figure out if it works for the blog
also I’m game to post on the blog although I’m not very good at doing that sort of thing regularly
I'll get that emailed and your AFBL WP account created. No worries on any regularity.
Dam I Should have read the trade better @Richard Hager traded a lot of Picks!!
haha tryign to go for it...but it's not working lol....we went 1 and 5 this sim....geez
and Cruz is trying to fight everyone lol
Yeah For my Latest post I was going over all the teams in my division and your team looks intimidating if everyone is healthy and that’s before Your 2 new players showed up
I just did a blurb about your team But the looking over I did while writing was enough lol
Started off 3-1 but lost the last two games to New Mexico because for some reason we never do well vs them so 3-3 again, My new acquisition Jorge Ramirez faced a team he was familiar with in his new home And gave up 4 runs in the first and 12 hits overall, not a good start but Hopefully it gets better
I'm hoping it's a nice battle this year. 🙂 I'm trying to get this team back in the playoffs
Last year you had me worried I’m not gonna lie But it’s not gonna be as easy as it has been the last couple years maybe a rough start for you but you guys are gonna pick it up, How long has it been for New York
It has for NY. They haven't won the whole thing since the 20s I think
yeah Mr. Chris MacIntosh was on that team, was a great trade for both sides sadly I didn't win it all tho
There we go! it was against some of the bottom teams...but it's a start.
Hmmm bunch of guys I put on injury list before last export are back on their teams.
it's weird....it's like some of my exports aren't being taken. My lineups were no where near where I had them with my last export
We had another great sim....so it actually worked out...clawed our way back to .500
The other Andy in the trade (Harris) had a good year last year for NM and so far so good this year but not so great before that. @Richard Hager
Yea...Wright just came back from being injured....we'll see. He has that fragile tag
and the other person in that trade...Bob Green not much better...fragile..and lost control pots
Yeah something weird happened, I activated Garren and he's still on the DL. I mean I'm fine with it, I went 5-1 but something ain't right
Nah, exports definitely didn't take. No big deal, but they didn't.
(seriously though I’d rather if you had to skip a sim now and then rather than being up too late to squeeze them in. get your sleep.)
I'm annoyed at myself for doing that again. I need to not run the / exports until I actually take the exports. Sorry again all!
@AFBL Commish can you run the exports command an hour bwdore sim time as a reminder? Running it after u take exports doesnt give time for anyone whi missed exporting to get one in, so seems pointless then
I'm using it like I was before that was available as a notion of who missed that sim's export. I just have to actually grab the exports first before running the / export command which I will make sure happens going forward as I'm not happy with myself for doing this again. I don't have any desire to use it as a reminder honestly.. just becomes noise imo. Typically takes me 5-10 minutes to go through FA claims and such after running if you need to quickly get an export in.
if you're not using it as re minder, then don't tag the GMs, I assumed by tagging us you meant it as a reminder, otherwise what's the point
Marc Wasn’t put on the IL so He was still contributing which is good for me
it has some good potential. but I feel like this wasn't a good year to pick top 3. lol
Looking forward to this sim to see if Arizona can sweep us again
Well NM was happy to help you along with that last sim. Was nice to see Derrick English win the 1-0 game.
Actually he didn’t get the win but he pitched well for five or so innings
Arrgh 2-4. Almost got swept by Arizona again but managed to get one.
Not a good time to have a bad sim with Texas winning eight in a row. Only two back of us now.
was expecting a bit more pwr from him already...but I'm sure it will come
Man this next sim is going to tell us a lot over in NY. We have games vs TX and ON...
yeah hoping we can keep this up...this next sim is going to be a bit telling IMO
Took a risk on 16-year old catcher Ayala. Hoping his arm strength and catcher ability grows as he matures. 🤷♂️
I looked at him at 1-3. I like the pick just not sure he will play catcher
4-2 sim Although the pitcher I have traded for has not really helped But been probably more effective than my injured 5th SP
3-3 to fall into a tie with Texas for East division lead. SP Antonio Mata wins Rookie of the month for May.
I looked at Ayala and backed off because I'm not sure he can stick behind the plate.
Those young guys do develop defensively (in ratings, not just position number) but I don't know how much.
are we typically going to sim AFBL first and NPBL after @AFBL Commish? Just trying to figure out whether AFBL or NPBL will slip to the following morning if I can't get exports for both done.
Today will likely be how things fall schedule-wise going forward
Hey turns out Frode 'Crack and Hookers' Bellaris is pretty good https://afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/players/player_4995.html
i added that nickname when I signed a guy named Rob Ford - he was the mayor of toronto and was well known for his crack and hooker lifestyle...
Welp @x24rocks you got 2 from us...We still have a bit of work to do I'm thinking...going to see how these next couple sims go
6-day hamstring cramp? woof https://afbl.slack.com/archives/C78NBCXR8/p1595944494030200
...and only two ahead of Minnesota now, who have been even hotter than Texas.
Yet another 3-3 sim. Managed to stay within three of Texas by beating them twice to end the sim.
Well I just discovered my 1st round pick (SS Rusty Gustafson) got signed by UBL Louisiana. I'll need to see how to prevent that. I would imagine there are others.
Actually quick glance only has him (I put all of the Draft Pool and IFA players during our draft on a player shortlist which capitalizes their names). Weird. /shrug
I would guess most of the international free agents are not interested in going to an indy league?
maybe? or more likely is the UBL teams don't know they are available?
Due before Thursday morning sim. Splitting up remaining games into 2 sims tomorrow and Wednesday.
fair warning, I'm not going to have my minor league rosters down to size yet
Figure the first few sims after our draft import, the rules should be relaxed (and they are already really relaxed unless I notice it lol).
Still rolling along with a 3-0 sim but injury bug finally bit: Murdoch out for six weeks and Bautista out for three.
Yet again a mid season injury sinks our season. This time it’s all star slugger Jorge gonzales
Who or what is putting people on IL when they get hurt and calling up minor leaguers? Since when did OOTP do that. I have nothing set for AI to handle.
I forgot this season but I usually set up an injury relacement chart for him
Managed to climb back into first and hang on going into the break. Hitting still at or near the top in FL. Power has shown up this year. Relief pitching has been improving, and CL Vasquez should be back in August. Starting staff has been up and down as expected, still some room for growth.
Yes my process is if they are hurt longer than 1-2 weeks (non day-to-day) then I'll move to IL and promote someone from AAA in the same position if possible also trying to avoid having a rookie get promoted if they haven't been on a AFBL roster yet.

2050 ASG completed https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/rt_sim/game_box_6666.html
record watch... Luis Antonio Perez is maintaining his 60 HR pace, he's now reached 33 dingers in 87 games this season, equal with the number he hit last season in 161 games, while the chances of him reaching 60 are pretty slim, he's hopeful of passing 50, which would be only the 16th time in AFBL history the half century had been reached (by only 8 players)
i also should've mentioned that both pat hatfield and bob holmes passed jake white's mark of 362 HRs for the Athletics, only 4 separates holmes from hatfield as the race to try and be the first player in franchise history to reach 400 is in reach, but maybe not manageable as they both enter the twilight of their careers
5-3. Hanging on to a one game lead in the East. Tony Ortiz goes down for a month so Shigekazu Yamasaki gets called up to start in LF. Wildcard in FL has tightened up, maybe a spot will come from the East. 🤞Seems like its been a while.
Man, top NC pitching prospect went from 5 potential in control to 3. Renders him useless.
12 game lead now. Mike McDaniel, 4-13 last season, is now 13-4 this season.
Race for the 1st overall pick is turning into a good one. About a 6 team race now haha.
4-2 and 2-4 last two sims. Three game lead over MN now who beat us last two games. Lost Juan Rosales who was getting a chance at SP5 (did not do well). Dunham or Garnett going back into rotation.
back on Luis Antonio Perez, the 25 year old is 2 HRs away from reaching 100 in his career, if he does this next sim he'll achieve his first 100 in less than 420 games - i.e. 4.2 games fro every dinger, to put this in to context, Mike Garza, he of the record 666 HRs in the AFBL hit a dinger every 4.1 games across his career and his first 111 at a rate of 1 every 5 games...
of course I'm not saying Perez will go anywhere near the career of Garza, but nice to dream 😄
I love projecting that stuff out, but seemingly when I do the guy gets hurt... I hope that does not happen for you.
oh yeah, I know i"ve jinxed him, but been a whiel since NJ has a performance even worthy of jinxing 😄
I was projecting out when Raul Silva could get to 500 HR, (he is at 442)... then he broke his wrist
I should probably move him to full-time DH, especially given he gets 0.4 WAR this season given his -23.5 ZR at 1B... hahaha
Lou O'Slattery in Oregon is hitting a HR every 3.9 games so far (172 in 666 games to date). He's 26.
he got off to a slow start but has hit 135 in his last 425 games (the last 3 seasons) for a HR per 3.14 game pace
man Jorge Reyes continues to pitch badly on his rehab assignment. Looks like he'll spend another week down there. 1 K vs. 5 BB in 4.1 IP in the most recent start.
usually they don't show the attitude when it's an actual rehab assignment, but possibly
Sorry guys I’ve been dealing with some work shit I’ve been away from my team I’m back and should be active again
Honestly pretty amazing I’m still in first place going to do a write up this weekend probably for the stretch
well Jorge Reyes came back from his rehab assignment and struck out 10 against 2 walks and 1 hit in 6.1 shutout innings, so maybe he was just sulking.
Fireworks in the series against Arizona. 60 runs scored by both teams combined. Won the series 2-1. We hit nine home runs in the 20-15 win. Three guys hit two each. Then things settled down in Oregon.
700 career steals for Lahoda. He just turned 30. He does have an injury history, but he has eyes on the all time steal number.
Hernandez with a Cycle and 5 hits. Huerta complete game, pushing him into another Cy Young discussion. Score.
Happy my team is firing on all cylinders now. All of the pitching injuries of last season are finally recovered.
Titans are playing really well. I missed that cycle so glad you mentioned it.
5-1, back on winning ways; Santiago out for two weeks but should be back for playoffs.
5-1 to go twelve games up in the East. Albuquerque (AA) did not make the playoffs, stopping our two-year streak of having every team make the playoffs. Other three minor league teams made it so NM would make it four out of five this year if we don't fall completely apart.
Three-way tie for first in AA West with one game to go.
Chet Ward, back in rotation with Santiago out, pitched seven innings of no-hit ball (but gave up one run) in win over NM. He is now 7-2, 2.15.
Mike McDaniel, 4-13 last year, goes for his 20th win today. He's 19-5, 2.86.
4-2, the two losses to Washington. Managed to beat them once. Preview of likely first round matchup against California next sim.
Nice to see some power this year. Cordero, Martinez and Rodriguez tied for team lead with 34 home runs each. Another 31 coming from third base platoon (Rivera and Raith) and 39 coming from DH platoon (Lopez and Santana). Some of those from Santana coming at 1B though.
Yeah should be a good battle in that 1st round, I think our two teams will have the closest RD of any of the 4 matchups. Of course I lost Garren again, so 2 starting OF on the DL for it
Too bad about the injuries – frustrating. Should be fun though. Looking forward to seeing how my two rookie SPs do.
ok, what went on those last 2 games... how did we lose 1-20 then 2-22 to NY???
no position players pitched.. yes it was at NY and they have a hitters aprk for sure, but that was just brutal
5-1 to clinch the East. Lost batting average leader Dominic Bennett for the year. Looks like Sean Butler will be putting his newly acquired 1B skills to use for a few games. Spent the year at AAA getting up to a 6 at 1B.
We'll wrap up the 2050 Regular Season with Thursday's sim. Frontier League is mostly wrapped up along with seeding. Patriot League is still up for grabs in both divisions and the seeding. Should be a fun final stretch of games!
Excited to see Jeff Amery’s changeup go from 3 to 4.Maybe he’ll get it going sometime in near future. 😅
Not Right before the playoffs again why does he always get hurt right before the playoffs
Lost Derrek English for eight months. Could be the end of his career. I was having trouble deciding whether to have him be in the playoff rotation, but problem solved. 😣
Also Yeah I spent a few weeks away from my team but I don’t feel we are clicking Yet Hopefully during the playoffs we start to click
Magana, Ramos, McDaniel, Fernandez, and Cruz will sit out the last week.
Santiago comes off IL and will get one start limited to 80 pitches.
But it seems to be what my team is made of this year even though I did win 98 games that I don’t feel the team really clicked all season
We’ve won 6 in a row and 10 out of 12 in Oregon. Hope this suggests we’re peaking at the right time.
Exported and playoff ready. Last year I had my best pitcher out and pretty low expectations and we won it all. This year I feel good so . . . .
Man! Situ with a solid offensive season. 54hrs and 143 rbi...not bad
Finally my homerun record set in 2015 by Ed Sexton Jr (A real one hit wonder) Has finally been broken after lots of speculation last three years by Duri Al Gahary
Who should get some MVP votes this season
Honestly as long as my catcher shows up to the playoffs I’m happy but I hopefully one of them do I haven’t had MVP since Ross in 2031 or something like that
oof you made me look some records up...and it looks like my boy Jermaine White got the runs record this year with 154
We got the SB record this year from Tony Benavides......111!!! geez
you guys had a stupid year. Well done. it looks like you took your foot off the peddle at the end as well
Yeah, we laid up the last two sims. That doesn't always work to advantage.
Honestly you guys are the favourite going into the playoffs, Preventing any injuries Is the key for the last couple Sims
114 sounds right. I'll have to look after this lovely daily standup 🔪
Hey guys, I might be able to get one in at lunchtime around 1130, otherwise right after work
All good man! I'll be ready whenever. Good luck to the playoffs field.
Good luck to All the playoff guys and Let’s get er done woo Love the post season
I'll be able to start the playoffs in a bit. Just waiting for the NPBL upload to finish.
WA surprises for playoffs:
Ben Sloan recalled as backup 1B for first series.
Pitcher Jong-beom Kum makes playoff roster.
I love how the two of the best pitchers in the PL Have really not pitched very well in this first game
Let’s hope the rest of my rotation is better also Surprise for me is Jose Ramirez traded from Colorado gets to start in the rotation for the playoffs Bradshaw is in the bullpen
My God I thought he’d be good for the playoffs turns out I was definitely wrong 🤦♂️
Like the bullpen mangement is really dumb He should not have been pitching seven in a tie game
He would be an MVP candidate if centerfield didn’t give them -10 defence
I didn’t like them either but at least you got something useful for him and Mr. ward
to be completely fair, Oregon is constructed to be the perfect counter to Washington. (OK, maybe not “perfect”). Our rotation is all LHP against your lefty-heavy lineup, and our lineup is largely lefties against your righty-heavy rotation.
Looking on the game log it was a 1-4 FC The pitcher hurt himself throwing the ball to second base and the runner hurt himself going to second base
I believe you swept us last year, and I think you’re the better team again this year, so I wouldn’t write yourself off just yet.
not sure in this league...but i've had it happen to me....many a time
I have had it happen to me twice in my 135 year solo league And I also came back three times Never done it in online league, in all the leagues I have played I only remember one in time back in This league VSL
I may have a tweak to the bullpen depending on the severity of the Cahill injury
alright...not all the time...but i've seen it a bunch of times....never give up!
I'll be away for a little bit but could sim tonight if all are ready
I will export and then will be enjoying The legal drugs of Canada while I enjoy my Friday night
I will enjoy the legal vodka from Costco and bbq some steaks for me and the wife.
Friday nights in my house is ordering in night we had Roti and my export is in
NM exported.
Down 2-1. Tough series as expected. Three straight singles by CA with two out in the 6th to score the go-ahead and eventual winning run in game three was frustrating. Elvis was in the building that game.
Man, hard fought first 3 games - gonna work on my export here momentarily
Whenever GA is ready, I can continue the playoffs. Good luck! @tjsmith7_georgia
sorry guys, thought i had been watching my email, but never saw the alert.
You are all good! I'll get Sim 2 started in a moment. Good luck guys!
This will will over soon and I can go hide in the corner somewhere 😕
Well, great season, disastrous post season
Killer series, Oregon. Good luck going forward.
See you all in the spring. 😷🤭
Tied 2-2 after a nice home run outburst. Fell behind early for fourth straight game. Player of the Game Don O'Scanlon hit by a pitch and had to leave. Hope its not serious.
:handwithindexandmiddlefingerscrossed: that at least one series goes 7 to give Mendoza an extra two days to heal. Would be nice to get him back for game 3 of the LCS rather than having to make a decision about carrying him to use in games 5-6-7.
Fell behind early again, came back with home runs again. After two strikeouts to start the top of the ninth it got exciting, but we managed to hang on.
Honestly I’d rather it be one of the PL series because I think I match up better with the Danger than with California.
although I’d rather be closer to full strength against California than short-handed longer against NM, if it came to it.
I’m shocked we swept the Resonance. I thought we had a chance in the series just because of the lefty/righty stuff but I thought I might be able to steal it in 6 or 7, not win going away.
It was a surprise. I thought Washington had a good chance to repeat.
but first time back in the playoffs in I don't know how many years....get that XP
Good back and forth series @Richard Hager ! We’ve got a little talent left and we matched up well against your lefty-heavy rotation! You’ll be back next year I’m sure!
Good luck If I win I will not be available till after the Toronto Raptors game is over If I lose congratulations to Georgia tough test for today’s game
Raptors are shitting the bed I have exported good luck @tjsmith7_georgia
Well my starting pitcher had to leave in first inning. Looks like it’s up to the bullpen. Lol.
Congrats to Ontario. I made comebacks this series, but just never had it in game 7.
Ontario needed the win as my Celtics crush the Raptors.
Thanks @Zach - KY mostly happy we even made it...That was the overall goal this year. Would have been nice to get to the next round, but still happy. We will be pushing a bit harder next season. Nice job!
Georgia got me very worried man when they won game six I did not know what I was gonna do but I’m so glad I won game 7. @tjsmith7_georgia Georgia is a good team can wait to see how next year goes for them
Off to face @Zach - KY who I honestly thought Would be in the finals last year, is a tough team but hopefully if I can get past them
All good I passed out early anyways. I'll be able to check AFBL and NPBL sims after this meeting.
Rookie Antonio Mata pitched a great first game, Odwin Reijssen, a former NM starter, beat us handily in game two and Mike Woodard did a nice job in game three to put us up 2-1. Dominic Bennett came back from injury this sim and we should get Don O’Scanlon back next sim.
can you give us another @ mention when the RTS starts? I’ll pop back over to pay attention at that point
man I gotta move to Newfoundland so I always get to play first.
Back to back strikeouts with the bases-loaded and one out, down by one. Oof
Rookies Antonio Mata and Esteban Santana made a difference for NM this series.
we were overachieving to begin with and then lost Mendoza in like the third inning of game 1
I can’t decide if this team needs a rebuild. Pitching is aging, Baker fell off a cliff at third base this year, Roldan declining at second. But also young rising players in the outfield.
We had a bit of a retool last couple of years. Seems to be coming together. Just wish I had fewer fragile guys.
I think I had five rookies this year maybe six but I don’t think Mike Woodard qualifies. Santana, Mata, Raith, Yamasaki and Tanaka.
my big problem is I have not drafted well pitcher-wise so I don’t have much in the pipeline. At least not for the rotation.
I guess Dave Winter has turned out ok, and he was a first-round pick, but he’s not ace material https://afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/players/player_8454.html
I was fortunate with free agent signings. Two of my starters, Mata and Woodard were fa signings.
FYI I threw an export in mostly to make a couple of DL changes and hopefully ward off any surprise offseason retirements.
Surprised by the nice playoff run we’ve made even though we’re pretty old across the board.
Or maybe that’s the key?
Hoping we can outlast the Danger after our first ever Patriot League title!
(Are we the first team to hold a Frontier League and Patriot League championship?)
Good deal. I'll be able to start soonish. I'll try to give a 5-10 min heads up!
Good game. We didn’t get a hit for several innings looks like. Checking in every so often so I didn’t see everything. Chances are our hitting will pick up some. 🤞
Orlando Lopez pinch hitting and grounding into double play in the eighth was big.
Veteran reliever Jesus Perez has been great so far this series, he’ll have to keep it up now that Don Wheeler was injured.
Beginning to feel like New York and Ontario must have felt. Need to win game three.
Good outing by Woodard and offense comes to life. That’s a relief.
We can finish the series tonight if everyone is down.
I'll be continuing the Federation Cup Series here momentarily @jeffnewmexico @Zach - KY
More outfield injuries. I almost went with six outfielders this series. Wish I had. Nice job by Mata again. Looking forward to his pitching next season.
Do you guys need a new file? @jeffnewmexico @Zach - KY If not, I can keep it going but happy to upload a new file if needed.
Yes please. I need to look at outfield options though I don’t think I have any.
I went out to mow in second inning because I couldn’t watch lol
The squad this year really did a nice job all around, it really was next man up in a few spots. Veteran leadership got it done!
Your pitching subdued three of the best offenses (regular season anyway) in the league. Great playoff run.
For the class to show up correctly it'll need to be in before Jan 1. I'd like to get offseason wrapped up by Tuesday Sept 8th so we can do Spring Training 2051 on Tues-Wed-Thurs next week.
But if we need to adjust things due to the holiday weekend in the US, that's fine too.
Man GM of the year is tough this season. So many solid performances from so many teams. Also a good amount of action from a lot of GMs. Super tough.
I feel a little better about my series @Zach - KY....Well done Big grats!
seems I missed it that bob holmes retired 😞 hoped to see him reach 400 HRs and maybe get his average back to .300 for the career.. but at 35y/o and desite only 6 injuries totally 6 weeks, he hung up his glove
1897 games, 2179 hits, 382 HR .298 avg and 73.2 WAR, 5 platinum sticks, 6 all star apperances, 3 gold gloves, 1 championship ring and mvp of 4 different playyoff series, including the 2042 federation cup seires that we won... will be interesting if he makes the HoF or not
Crap sorry guys. I’ll sim this afternoon after I get NPBL finished up. Had to actually leave the house today for work haha.
None of my spring training roster changes are in the new file. Guys still on IL that I activated as well. Wondered why my regulars were getting so much time.
Does anyone still have the file from before today? I'm sure I didn't given my day and trying to squeeze the sim in.
I don't now that I downloaded. Kill the file so more don't download and I'm sure someone will have it.
let me know if you haven't downloaded the file from today so I can re-run the sim and actually grab exports /shame
I have not downloaded since yesterday at 1600. I can share if you give me instructions
same as well, but the whole league folder is 2.1GB, is there specific files you need ?
if you could zip/compress those for now and send my way, I'd appreciate it.
my power is back as well but at this point it sounds like my services are redundant.
appreciate the help in advance all. i have to be better about actually grabbing exports and probably should take a quick backup before each sim tbh.
you should definitely take a backup just in case the game craps itself mid-sim tbh
Honestly if life is too crazy if you have to delay a Sim or something I’m sure we would all understand
@lt - Idaho @JasonMallards @jeffnew_mexico @Richard Hager @chappy with your export over the old one, any changes I can do for you?
Everyone has that had an export in before 3pm CDT or so, I was able to download that export for ST Sim 1
Sorry I meant to post to avoid uploading a new export before it was too late
NC org auto'd and then adjusted rotation mode to "Strict Order" @chappy
If you could call up Dan Cook and Eric King from AAA. Put Cook in SP#4, Alarcon in #5, Damian Norman in SP#6, then auto bullpen I should be good for now. thanks!
Then either go right to Opening Day on Monday or do a day break and go Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri for next week followed by back to normal Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs.
yea...none of my exports were taken (its all good) I liked yesterday's sim better though. 😉
Couldn't use yours with the re-do since it was on a newer date unfortunately but sorry again to all
I keep reading the California Bulldogs as the California Bullfrogs. Can’t get it out of my head 🤪
looks like I made it out of ST without any major injuries, so I’ll call that a victory.
26 for active right? Looks like we stopped a day short so I still have /50
26 is correct and ya stopped a day before Opening Day so the Spring Training results didn't get cleared out (at least easy to view).
OOFF @AFBL Commish My bad....for some reason I thought we were still in ST...
Silva gets hit 2000 and gets hurt. At this point i am just being stubborn trying to get him close to 500 hr
NM off to a good start. Three free agents in the starting rotation now (Mata, Woodard and Anderson). Sergio Suarez (AAA) might be another in near future.
PL South is almost all 7-7 teams. Come on, KY
the painful climb to 3000 K for Juan Guevara. He has 2974 - but only 1 in each of his last 3 starts...
I’ve got one guy too many on my AAA squad. Was hoping I’d get to it this morning before you simmed but I guess not. So it goes.
A lot of game score links going to wrong box scores lately. Is this something can be fixed easily? It’s an issue that’s been around a long time.
yeah he started the sim (I also have one result) but I'm guessing it stopped wanting him to react to an injury and he's not at his computer.
Ohio Knights: RP Ron Lawrence was injured when he fell down the stairs while sleepwalking. The Diagnosis: Partially torn labrum. This injury keeps him out of action for 2 months.
Reminder to send note to all players to require childproof gates on all stairs.
Nice, Mendoza gutted through two mediocre starts after the big injury to notch wins 199 and 200
Ugh 1 sec.. looks like the Online League FTP settings got wiped out again for me.
Uninspiring draft pool. Looks like WA will get a 2.5 star prospect.
well this is a gamble of a pick... let's see how he develops
well maybe the low work ethic means he won't be pushing so hard and can therefore avoid some injuries
Perhaps he should try getting his OBP higher than .285 before making demands.
In his 501st career start, Juan Guevara pitches his first (and probably last) shutout.
Down goes Garren for the year, but overall the squad is flexing it's might a bit in the division. I dig it. At least Garren held out til Johnston came back
Yeah, I hope to get a half-season from him at best. It's ok in a no-finances league like this. I just play him when he's around but bank on him missing a ton of time
If anyone is curious, Slack has been and still is having issues today.
Haha not that mean but the Slack issues are why there's a long delay in some S+ posts 😄
Frank Baker 149/210/304 on the year. Hector Roldan looking up a bit, he's now 209/314/276.
Sander Mertens only hitting 220/284/411. Without Mertens and Baker as plus bats for their positions (C and 3B) we just don't score many runs. It almost doesn't matter how good the rotation is.
Baker's ratings are still decent -- I'm wondering if at his age playing defense is leading to him being more tired. Anybody ever notice if there's effects like that?
well, I'm gonna do a little experiment. Most likely, Baker's just having a brief stopover before being demoted, but we'll see.
Kentucky's Roger Peck got his 2500th hit last sim @Zach - KY
maybe he was going to have a better week anyway, but Baker was 316/350/579 as dh
Three of those wins versus Maryland and New York teams ahead of me so that is good
Juan Guevara - 3 complete games in 499 starts has had 2 in his last 3 starts... what a weird game
boy Odwin has had a run of bad luck in NC: 26 IP, 28 K, 2.77 ERA and 0.85 WHIP, but he's 0-3.
5 total runs in his 4 starts there. Four of the five runs came in his debut.
I think something happened in statsplus that made it update again on the 11th. We're at the 18th.
I'll be enabling ASG voting after the sim before it sneaks up on us
1 more week til Takahashi is back. Odwin got his first NC win in his 6th start with us
yeah, gonna have to go 4-man for a sim, and call up a solid prospect in Gabe Long
well if I keep having 4-2 sims the rest of the way, I figure that gets me to the playoffs.
Ugh sorry guys.. got distracted and didn't come back and grab exports
my streak of 4-2 sims is broken by... a 4-3 sim. Which is fine I guess though I’d prefer if it had gone to 5-2.
also I think Frank Baker was just having a dead cat bounce when he moved to DH. Hit better for a few weeks but now he's 151/207/208 in July
so did exports not get pulled? I had guys in the minors hurt that I DL'd yesterday, that aren't on the DL in todays file
@jeheinz72 afbl_commish [7:16 AM]
Ugh sorry guys.. got distracted and didn't come back and grab exports
Gotta say it - and maybe I'm the big meanie in the group - but not pulling exports is becoming a tad too routine imo. Sure, sometimes it doesn't matter. But I had my starting SS nursing a D2D injury who I had 7-day'd outta the starting lineup for the 4 games. He ended up playing full bore in all of them. Luckily the injury didn't get worse, but that's a big risk that I really really didn't want to take
Sorry had to take the kids to daycare today. I could re-run the sim honestly. I messed up and got distracted trying to rush the sim. My apologies I'm frustrated at myself for doing it again.
But also would need to pull an backup from someone that hasn't download and have to find time to get that done. Happy to do that since I've done this several times now.
The new S+ slash command is what trips me up if I'm in a hurry. In the past, I'd manually type out who didn't export but now its automated, I just have to wait to run that until after I actually do so. Today I did what I did previously and typed the command, kids needed me for a moment, and forgot to click the grab exports button. Annoyed I did it again.
I mean no need to re-run it, I guess I'm just wondering if with you running NPBL as well if we'd be better off adjusting sim schedules somehow so you don't have to hurry. Make it easier on ya
It's been a weird 2-3 weeks just with the volume of work. I like the sim schedule honestly. I just have to pay attention and slow down at the start of the sim.
If I do adjust anything, might just say lunchtime for NPBL instead of back to back. Being permanent WFH, it really doesn't matter haha.
Regardless apologies again to everyone for not getting exports again. Sticky note in all caps saying GRAB EXPORTS YOU DUMMY is on my monitor lol.
No need to rerun on my account, though I would like the Cisco Martinez injury to disappear! But something worse might happen if rerun. Why tempt fate?
LOL, thanks Matt!
but the guy who was in IL and it was yelling at me about him being too old was on my RL team
I for one would rather have fewer AS votes and have the weekend to sort where my draftees fit in the minors but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Good point on the draftees and having the weekend. Could do the ASG sim tomorrow if that's what we want to do. I usually like to see at least 15 or so ballots at the minimum.
ok you heard it here first, folks. Get those votes in if you want to have the weekend to deal with your new players.
I'll get the draft results entered and a new file up this morning. Didn't think about the draft this morning when I said no sim 😄
will it let us redownload with no change to the in game date? If not, I think we can just post a "skinny" file to download directly
Ya it should see the newer file on the server based on the timestamp. Exports from before the upcoming new file and exports after the new file will both be valid.
I had it in my head it looked at the in-game timestamp, not the file itself
I think it does check for both but the in-game date is the most important one
Was this draft super deep in RP’s? Feel like my 8th round pick has real big league potential
it felt deep in big league bench/bullpen talent in general, but especially in RPs.
I dunno. I feel we have seen the level of ratings rise on the pitching side in the bigs.
😂 I have a 26 min window before another gd meeting. I'll get going now
Frustrating that all that time just to find out I had no way to manually select the rosters
Here's the 2051 ASG Box Score https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/rt_sim/game_box_6666.html
Not sure how different the CPU selections are compared to our voting results. Hopefully they were close.
3 pitches, 3 outs for Lou Best in the ASG, that’s what I call efficient! Glad he escaped without too much of a workload!
I think the game is set to not allow any injuries during the ASG, but I'm not 100
1-6 this sim. Way to make a statement about that division title- guys!
can I swear? 14 month injury to enrico muniz in AAA, was gearing up for an AFBL spot next season... torn flexor tendon to the #4 prospect in AFBL... grrr
Updates to the /player StatsPlus command to provide more information when executed "Added overall pick number to previously drafted players, and a link to the S+ draft where they were taken."
Lou 'El Torro' Best, P, Kentucky Lions, 30 yo, 2038 draft, 12th pick
Lou O'Slattery, RF, Oregon Explorers, 27 yo, 2041 draft, 12th pick
Alec O'Slattery, C, Retired
Ernie O'Slattery, P, Free Agent, 27 yo
Lou Olvera, LF, Cooperstown Greats (NY, AA), 26 yo, 2047 draft, 41st pick
Bob Slaughter, P, Retired
Orlando Lopez hit his 300th home run this sim.
Lopez is ranked 75 on list now. Probably will end up hitting about 400.
Newton (302), Mejia (301) and Glover (294) are active players around the same number. Mario Cruz highest active at 494, but he's out for the year. Hope he can come back next year.
Gahhhh OOTP! I'll get the sim started after getting the Online League FTP Settings fixed which got cleared AGAIN. No rhyme or reason ugh.
What's up in AAA Annapolis? They win 12-0, then play Atlanta and lose 25-0 and 26-3. Eric Morris goes 5-5 with 2 BB https://www.afblbaseball.com/reports/news/html/box_scores/game_box_1025.html
Jose Huerta 14-2 2.75 looking for his 3rd pitcher of year award and robbed of another. Just finished a 50ip streak without issuing a walk.
Do we have any 40-40 performers in league history? Eric Steele has back to back 39HR seasons and looks to be on pace to make it this time with 28 - 32, following 39-49 and 39-53 seasons.
Raúl Silva, C, Idaho Steelheads, 35 yo
Álex Silva, C, Trenton Owls (NJ, AA), 25 yo
Luis Silva, P, Free Agent, 20 yo
Luis Silva, P, Free Agent, 22 yo
Juan Silva, 3B, Duluth Knights (MN, AA), 27 yo, 2044 draft, 103rd pick
Only one guy on my team has ever hit 40 homeruns and that was last year so I have never had player do that
Bennie Ratzlaff, CF, Retired
Naruaki Kurata, SS, Ontario Blue Pirates, 17 yo
William Bratlie, P, Hartford Yard Goats (NY, A), 27 yo
Olaf Lieder, P, Free Agent, 31 yo, 2040 draft, 30th pick
Jean-Paul Prat, 2B, Free Agent, 20 yo
Huerta was hardly robbed in 1948. Jesus Cruz, traded early that year from NJ to WA, was 19-4 overall with a 2.78 ERA. He is a six time Pitcher of the Year. Huerta looks good for it this year though.
That trade sent three players and a 1st and 2nd round pick to NJ. Tai fat Seng tanked. Luis Lopes sorta tanked although he's in AAA now at age 21. Don Craig is 14-27 in two years with NJ. The first round pick turned into Tony Wheeler, currently 3-star potential at age 19 in rookie ball. Lost track of the other pick.
Ben Johnson hit 573 HRs for WA from 2022 through 2041. From 2028 through 3031 he hit 46, 41, 47 and 49. He also had 40+ in 2033 and 2039 (49). So he topped 40 six times. Lifetime BA was .250 though.
Ratzlaff had 40+ EIGHT times starting at age 19. Ended up with 609 (and 1690 RBIs). Johnson had 1666 RBIs with his 573 homers.
The only other guy to hit 40 for Washington was current catcher Kieran Wynn with 40 in 250 (in just 128 games!)
Washington's Jose Garcia is on track to hit 48 this year at current pace.
Mike Garza (CA) hit 40+ HRs seven times including three years in a row - 2024-2026. He had 666 lifetime with 1,894 RBIs and .324 BA. He is the career WAR leader too (118.0)
All time league leader in doubles (613) - the fantastically named Ahilocana Gopalakrishan from Trinidad.
I was all like "wait I definitely exported last night" but evidently I was behind on game date. Just noticed the dreaded "incorrect date" message from slackbot.
Lots of 40-40 players then. Love that a catcher pulled that off multiple times and is over 680 career steals. Gotta love simulations.
Huerta's 2048 award was in the opposite league from Cruz. But he lost out to teammate Alan Carpenter (now out with TJ) who had an elite September to steal the award.
I moved Silva to DH cause i was losing too many games to days off for the catcher fatigue.
Two of his 40-40 seasons were as a catcher including a season where he played only 131 games. 42 HR and 67 steals
It’s fun going through the history of the league
In a shocking move, WA has promoted rookie league outfielder Wilson Saucedo to the big leagues where he will start in right field to replace the injured Ismael Garza who is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Saucedo brings the desired defensive skills to the lineup. Can he hit anywhere near his .357 average with Ocala? Time will tell. Wilson also has 33 home runs with Ocala, second in the Liberty League. (No, he is not related to Washington's star third baseman, Antonio Saucedo. Antonio, born in NYC, is an American through and through. Wilson is a proud Costa Rican.)
wow 6-0 sim for Oregon paired with losing streaks by Texas (7 games) and Colorado (4 games) has left us in control of the last wild card.
I think this is the first sim that’s ended with us not in first place which is very on brand for us to choke at the end
Things looking good so far in NM. Hitting has fallen off a bit from last season, but pitching has stepped up. Rookie Reuben Franco has done a decent job leading off.
Yeah, looks like you're going to win the 3-team battle we've had all season to see who gets to avoid the other two in the first round
My pitcher Cristo Mota could be A surprise challenger to Georgia’s Jose Huerta for the Pitcher of the year He leads the league in Era and WAR and is 2nd in Strikeouts
2-4 sim to drop us into a tie with California and only one ahead of Washington.
with 7 steals with week Ken Lahoda has moved into second all time in steals with 770.
Not sure why I had to manually upload today's file or why the S+ app didn't send results (definitely had it started and running). Sorry guys!
Looks like the StatsPlus app got mixed up and didn't switch correctly between NPBL and AFBL
22-year-old Wilson Saucedo, promoted from Rookie Ball to take over the right field job on Ismael Garza'a SEI, is hitting ,263 and has a +2.2 ZR in just 29 games.
Raul SIlva's quest for 500 HR is looking like a real long shot. Stuck on 469 since late August, the 36 year old needs 2 more seasons to get there. Not sure he will play that long or if I can even use him that long. As long as Idaho is in rebuild mode and he does not retire, he will DH for us.
I got a bunch of old injuries reported today; you might not be as devastated as you think
Ismael Cordero now tied with Bennie Ratzlaff for NM single season HR record (48).
NM (3334-2978) passed NJ (3330-2982), for third place on all-time winning percentage ranking (for the moment). Long way to go to catch Alabama and Colorado. Texas, NC and Oregon not far behind.
Final day of the season and there's a 3-way tie for the 1st seed in the Frontier League. Good luck on the final game!
I'm not sure if the game will have the loser of CA/WA play OR for seeding or what
Happy we got the Division, @x24rocks made it super interesting with that sweep of us....feels like we are backing in. But I'll take it.
not sure when the last time was when NY pulled out the DIV...we move on to the big prize now 🙂
This is true. Not sure how we did vs them...have to look this up now
I was five and seven you guys were 6-6 got swept in September
Thanks man and thank you September for letting me go 19-7 Otherwise I probably would’ve missed the playoffs
Hinkle Went on a 34 game hitting streak starting August 23 and when he gets hot my team usually does
Yeah in injurys Plagued my hitters this year Thankfully not my pitchers
Not surprised 163 was a 1-run game. We have been neck and neck all year. Gg @John_Washington
I'll get an export in today, but I'll be out of town this weekend again so will have to rely on instructions if any changes need to be made (back Sunday evening)
Ontario is ready good luck Georgia Let’s see if this goes the same way as last year
Just need a go-ahead or export from KY before we start the 2051 Wildcard Series. @Zach - KY
I'm looking to make a deeper run this year! I feel like this team is lined up for it.
Robbie Laplante getting second place votes so far for FL Reliever of the Year. He is second in WAR but I think most other stats merit consideration for some first place votes. 😎
I'm going to run the NPBL first just in case KY @Zach - KY needs another 45ish min to export. I'll run Playoffs Sim 1 after I'm finished with the NPBL sim regardless. Good luck all!
good luck everybody just a little less luck to @tjsmith7_georgia 😁
I had to call up a new shortstop from AA because I lost 2 SS In the last 2 Weeks of the season
Mostly I called him up because he plays multiple positions so I can have Defensive replacements
The bottom of the left-handed lineup is all guys who barely played for my team
It’s really tough when you’re just called up an AA shortstop Strikes out four times, Your second baseman with 10 ML Games leaves 4 runners on But Georgia is the top team gonna have to win Game #2
at least he only coughed up 3 runs to leave it a tie instead of putting us behind. 3-3 top of the 9th now
OH SH#T. I jacked up my rotation. Turned on the 7 day lineup and moved Huerta to Sunday, which was 2 days ago! Means my ace won't start before game 4.
@John_Washington we’re a bad matchup for you, I think. All LHP rotation and lots of bats who hit righties better
I was in a meeting where I was sharing my screen so couldn’t multitask haha
I can’t seem to have a good clean first inning tho Marc seems to be Having a pretty good series so far
Wonder how easily I could set up a way to share my screen for the in-game view instead of only RTS for everyone. Just never have time to mess with it 😄.
Nice game by Ramos. He's been great since reentering the rotation.
Hhmm, Villarrreal out for 8 weeks. I went with 11 pitchers for the playoffs, so that could hurt a lot.
THE KID FROM AA Comes in as a defensive replacement hits the walk off 2 run homer
at minimum we have to win the next game at home but ideally the next two in a row, so we have a shot to close this out on home turf. Needing 6 and 7 would be tough.
6 time Pitcher of the Year Jesus Cruz gets the start for WA vs. OR. in game four Cruz gets the late start in the wild card round because he had to pitch game 163 to nail down the AL West title. He didn't get the win in that game because WA had to score three in the last of the ninth to pull out the 4-3 win. But he kept WA in the game through his six IPs. Ronnie Carriere (of all people) got the walk off single to score Tom Fortunata from third with the winning run. Granted, Cruz at age 33 is not the pitcher he once was, but he still has a WAR in the 5's.
I’ll be able to continue with Playoffs Sim 2 shortly guys
Ughh Another Blown save man Foghorn should’ve been starting the ninth-inning
I started my ace today Instead of saving him for tomorrow so There still a chance and you are the best team
Sorry guys, been slammed at work and life so I haven’t been as engaged as I’d like. I’ll hopefully have so more time during the holiday season! Glad to have made the playoffs again!
Life and work happen man! I keep telling myself things will slow down too haha.
That’s a good win for me off to the LCS again good series @tjsmith7_georgia I honestly did not expect to win the series especially with My starting & back up shortstop on the DL & Two blown saves in the ninth-inning.
Not sure what happened to GA. Had high expectations on this post-season. 94 wins, possible MVP & POY. Everything seemed to be breaking right, and then just laid a dud in the playoffs. Will have to find a way to re-motivate this squad.
We did have six walks without allowing any, so not as lopsided as I thought as far as getting on base.
Woodard had an excellent game one for us and Jenkins had a solid start but other than that not so hot. McCormick and Woodard (in his second start) didn’t last three innings.
Damnit I really hate OOTP sometimes. Not sure why my OOTP20 is crashing as often as it has been. We’ll have to replay Game 5 I guess… Sorry guys
Why wouldn’t it save after Game 5 like it did for Game 4. I never understand little things like that.
Might just need to move my OOTP install to my laptop instead of this desktop
Ok so this a so cool he got 3 hits in Majors and Three game-winning RBIs
I feel sorry for Kentucky but there’s a huge storyline for me versus New York for LCS
As much as I would’ve liked the 6-3 game for stats purposes 2-0 was great for storylines
Haha I'm back and just saved Game 5s part 2 lol. Game 6s coming up for reals.
I wouldn't be too worried, @jeffnewmexico -- it seems like our one role every year is to knock Washington out and then get pummeled.
I may or may not be back. I am thinking of seriously cutting back on OOTP.
There’s also a little backstory 2047 Trade is going to have a big impact on this Series
You on the winning end currently...I'm hoping I can get some big years out of Miller
Oh yeah definitely a good rate for you at the time to stock up your minors and for me to help me get over the hump and back to the Series
I’m not gonna lie Richard I was hoping that one of them would just be a bust Especially because you were in my division😬
Yeah he would’ve had 50 if I didn’t blow the last three games of the season
I had a lot of interest on that dude...and for good reason
I think that was the first year I was making trades since 2025 in game so for me I was like If I’m going to do this I want everything and I had the guy who won the reliever of the year on my team the year before But Daniels is better and Bradshaw was one of the best pitchers pre him losing movement and stamina And Jeff Beck was just throw in Who made what 2 All-Star teams with me Very solid player
Weird, my really good reliever - Mike Rice - isn't on the Reliever of the Year ballot.
So did some checking.. Reliever of the Year is currently set to these qualifications:
Yeah sadly yes those are the only 2 qualifications: 75% appearances as a RP, and the 10 total Saves+Holds. Suggesting to Dave with StatsPlus to add more qualifications.
Good Luck everyone and just a little but less to you @Richard Hager 😁
Wow that’s nuts. Dude pitched 90 innings of awesome relief. He likely wouldn’t win but he would probably get second. He was second in WAR WHIP FIP and something else for RP
With his war and WHIP if he leverages is high I might have voted him first
after you click Save, can I inquire as to the nature and extent of Sander Mertens’s injury?
go into game strategy for me and make sure Mertens is allowed to play when injured?
Blargh. Probably needed to get one of the first two games. Put up a fight in game two at least.
FYI I’ll want to make some adjustments after G3, but I think I should be able to do that relatively quickly. Not a lot of meetings today.
he was cruising but even if you let him come out for the 8th you gotta pull him after the 8-pitch walk
Exciting news as we have found a GM to take over the long vacant Arizona Vipers (Alex from NPBL, Georgia)!
I can trade prospects here to you guys if you send me great players back in NPBL right?
Whenever NY is ready to continue, I'll be ready to move on with Game 4s. Good luck guys! @Richard Hager
I'm pulling 2 jobs today... our school helper is out this week
I'm getting Alex added as the Arizona GM now so need 15-30 minutes anyway
Bases loaded on the eighth inning bases loaded in the ninth-inning for New York oh my god my heart was pounding
And now New York put up 8 runs on My game six starter in game two Hoping for a better performance
Save when you come back LOL dont want to lose that 3rd win New York had me sweating
Duri Who was so bad in the first round I sat him for my back up catcher for one game Is the MVP of this series
Was a great series I was so scared Because New York put only left-handed starters And 3 of my 4 best hitters are worse VS LHP
My best hitter Kringos only played once & struck out three times But somehow my team pulled through, Keeping Keisuke on the roster was the right call.
@Richard Hager You have a good team man you will be tough to beat for many years
van meel doesn’t have it either and my manager has a funny definition of “quick hook”
Now I Have to go look at both your teams to see who I’m cheering for tho Last time the Team I wanted to face one they beat me in the finals without their two best starting pitchers
@x24rocks your other option is the team that swept you in the last three days of the regular season
Yeah honestly I don’t want you you’re almost exactly like New York all left handed starters the best relievers are left handed
Was just checking back in. I can kick off an upload before the bedtime process for the circus starts haha
Just saw this @yuda https://afbl.slack.com/archives/C8CQ7UVM0/p1603813695003000
Looks like we're ready to see who will win the Frontier League. I'm about to grab exports and start Game 7 @jeffnewmexico @yuda
Well done @x24rocks. I tried over the offseason and deadline to strengthen this team, as I still feel it needs a bit more. We will be doing so in the offseason. Making the playoffs isn't enough 🙂
couldn't pull out those 1 run games...goign to have to dive a bit deeper
dont look at game log for game 5 last 3 innings you had so many runners
my biggest Decision was Should Kringos stay on roster or should Leon Rospigliosi get called up
Good deal. I’ll get the Federation Cup Series started here shortly @x24rocks @yuda
Darn oh well. Apparently YouTube needs a full 24 hours to enable live streaming and it hasn’t been that long yet 🙄. Good luck guys!
he was on slightly short rest but I'd have thought he had 80 or 90 pitches in him ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Ya must be. Looks like they brought in Crosby to face the RHB Broadberry.
I was fine with Crosby except for leaving him in to face a LHB after he'd been in a full inning
looking at that screen I'm not sure I'd adjust it more than one click so no need unless I have an injury (or @x24rocks wants a file)
Noted and if its just a click(s) and you know what you want adjusted, I can make that for you.
make "favor l/r matchup" go one more click toward "prefer" in the game strategy. for all times/all scores
I should probably do more with situational game strategy but it seems like a lot of work so I don't. 😜
(I do adjust the individual strategy for most players on the roster so I don't run into a lot of stolen bases or have power hitters bunting or stuff like that)
now would be a good time to pull Reyes, Mr. I Just Discovered What a Quick Hook Is in Game One
I planned on uploading a file after each 2 game set. Do you guys need a file? @x24rocks @yuda
I don’t need file I’m at work Next two games I already have set up so I’m good
They were pulling pitchers left right and center for me it was like i was managing
Awesome. I'll get Game 4 started in the next few minutes. Good luck guys!
Well after the HTML Reports finishes uploading. I'll skip StatsPlus and StatsLab updates so we can get going.
well i am off to buy my parents some beer and wine so when I come back i hope i am winning 😜😁
I work for PowerSchool. Internal IT as a system administrator for multiple applications internally. Nothing to do with the public facing PowerSchool family of products.
PowerSchool has been acquiring tons of companies (the one I started with PeopleAdmin here in KC) so it's been constant migrations haha
also the reality is probably that I have complaints with how our district configured it
They bought Schoology just before COVID hit which ended up being a good buy
if we win this series he’s got a real shot to be MVP of all three series for us
we demoted Frank Baker right around June 1 (I don’t remember exactly). He’d evidently become a bit of a clubhouse cancer because I got one of those emails thanking me for cutting ties when I did it
(he retired at the conclusion of the AAA season. Marginal HOF candidate but he probably won’t get in)
Because he retired if you guys win a ring he won’t get a little ring notification on the top of his profile
and for that matter Rodrigo Gomez, who had put in 11 seasons in the bigs as a swing man
clearly none of them thought we could make a run or they’d have waited for the rollover to hang ’em up
It sucks I was checking like I always do when teams go to the finals to see who would win a ring if each team wins
It's always tough to finally pull the trigger to demote your aging star
Yeah Frank Baker looked good I almost offered you tie Hinkle for him straight up after last year’s playoffs
Ánibal 'The Wildman' Escobido, 3B, Oregon Explorers, 27 yo
Ánibal Vidal, P, Free Agent, 18 yo
Ánibal Cortéz, P, Hoboken Falcons (NJ, A), 27 yo, 2044 draft, 18th pick
Ánibal Matos, SS, Retired
Ánibal Pérez, 1B, Free Agent, 27 yo
plays great D and is a net positive but he does not have the batter profile you’d hope for from a third baseman
Especially in your ballpark, The reason I didn’t offer you the trade is because power hitters don’t do well in my ballpark usually My Ballpark is built for the gap hitters
Honestly with your team I can’t believe you haven’t won a title since 2013
he’ll get an extra day rest before his next start maybe he’ll stretch out this time
The bases were loaded so Maybe it was a good thing that they pulled him
at this point I’d click “simulate rest of game” or whatever the button says
I'm in meetings until 4:30 EST but by all means if I don't have any late injuries in this game carry on with the next
Reyes may not make the roster next year. His ratings still look good but he's been hit hard all year.
you know what can i have a file then cause i will be home and would like to look at what i have
Sure thing. Just got back myself and will upload a new one before Game 8.
OK I’m gonna go download the file and export and if there is a game 9 I will not need a new one
Offence has floundered the last couple games Hopefully my little change will help
ON is ready with a new export and OR said to continue with no injuries
if there's a game 9 I'll probably have a change to make all pitchers available but nothing for 8
Can we watch the actual pitches live? Or is that not possible while RTS?
In my first FCS I appeared in 2020 We live managed the games And it’s the reason I lost
unless somebody got hurt and I missed it, set me to “allow SP in relief” and otherwise go ahead. Mendoza should be starting G9
Not sure on why the quality is so bad for the YT stream but who cares lol. Game 9 coming up.
Did Washington leave here too? Was looking forward to another division battle
This was a hard fought sereis that i thought wasnt going to go my way so many times I am sorry man you deserved this just as much as I do
eh, I mean, I’m a little disappointed but (a) I wrote this team off more or less at least twice this season and (b) it’s a silly game
It may be a silly game, but it’s a serious silly game. 😏
but seriously I had two starting pitchers I thought I could rely on all playoffs
10 tries it took me ten final Series to win an online league in my life so i am super happy
if you look at the first two series I went van meel - mendoza - scrub - van meel - mendoza - van meel - mendoza
Thanks man this just feels a lot better than winning in my solo league Though if I had lost would’ve been Well earned by you
I don’t know how I won My team can’t hit lefties and all I faced was left-handed starters vs NY and You until Cabrera, my best hitter Kringos Barely played because he sucks against lefties. I had a second baseman who played two games in a regular season, Shortstop who was in single-A most of the year walk off 3 games And I won the championship game with my centerfielder playing third base
great season guys. Glad to know i was beat by the worst of the best!
BOOM! @x24rocks Was rooting for you! if it's not going to be me...it must be from my div! Nice job!
Thank you Richard you’re going to be in the finals one day Especially with your team. It’s always good to be beaten by the best team right 😁
As I've told the Commish, I won't be staying on. Cutting way back on OOTP. Good luck to everybody in the future. I've enjoyed my stay here.
Rumors are we might go full remote at school again so maybe Ill have some more time soon!
Been without an owner for a 2ish seasons so they e been CPUd ever since
guys who were in AAA retired on me but nobody from the bigs yet.
I haven’t had any yet but I thought I saw talk about guys retiring so I’m confused 😆
There were some guys on Oregon that retired during minor-league rollover
Yeah so some guys will retire When the major league season rolls over, It’s the reason I put a few of my older players on my actual roster And sent export in before roll over happens
Yeah we'll get that with a new file when I advance officially to off-season. Probably could do this later today if that works for everyone so you have the weekend.
Shoot yesterday got away from me. I can get one up this morning.
Wow Georgia's Jose Huerta was 22-2 this season but will be in a battle for PL Pitcher of the Year with Ontario's Cristo Mota (13-10, 230 K).
Both are very close in WPA and WAR. It'll be interesting to see who wins 🙂
Ohio had a pair of good rookie seasons from SPs Juan Gozales and Jorge Mendoza (both 3.8+ WAR seasons)
the end of an era in Idaho. Juan Guevara and Raul Silva have retired...
We’ll see if I have time today but thinking I want to go through and release minor leaguers now instead of after spring training so they’re available when the Indy league teams are signing
I’ve been thinking about spring cleaning now as well. One drawback is unforeseen development in a released player over the offseason. So maybe just absolutely hopeless guys now.
Oh yeah I’ve got plenty of like 26+ guys sitting in my system as organizational depth. Leaning towards releasing quite a few of them and picking up younger little-hopers from free agency
I guess I do minor league releases, getting rid of older guys and signing younger guys throughout the year so I rarely do a lot at once. I think I’ve gotten things out of balance in the minors now though. Too many R players that aren’t developed enough to advance. And now I’ve added draft picks by trading AAA players. Didn’t think that through 🙄. Have to push some guys.
Hmm plus six nineteen-year-olds in IC. Four of which are probably no-brainer cuts.
I do through the year some, too. But at the beginning of every year I promote a lot of players (some because of age limits, some because they're ready) and I usually wind up with a lot of releases around opening day.
ok, that's 12 guys released who have no realistic shot to play on my team next year (and are too old to get better in almost every case)
Sometimes I wish the minor league roster limits were lower, say 30-32. I always shoot for that range because organizing/planning seems easier. But it never lasts long, the spaces always get filled and several players at each level end up in a distracting practice-squad type thing in my head. 🤯
Yeah we need to finish up Season Awards and HOF voting before we roll over to 2052. So hopefully we can get everyone's in by Monday or Tuesday so we can get plans set for Spring Training then Opening Day.
I am excited for next season or maybe I'm just excited about baseball lol, I am watching an old game at work from 2011 with Willy Mo Pena in it
Thanks John! Sorry to see you go. Have a good holiday and don’t be a stranger if the itch returns!
Congrats to our 2051 Season Awards winners...

So I’m ok with that. There’s a few premium
Hitters. Middle of the order types
But selph luppe and Leo bray are a damn nice core
Taylor informed me he'll need to step away as the Alabama GM unfortunately so we have Alabama and Washington vacant at the moment 😕. Please send anyone this way if they are interested.
is there anywhere on the web to see ST stats? or will I have to wait until I can get to my desktop later?
Uploading StatsPlus now but don’t remember if that has ST stats. I’ll have StatsLab updated after the SQL dump completes. It might have ST stats but not certain.
Ya I think I’ve asked Dave with S+ in the past. In the pipeline as a feature request but no ETA iirc.
3 guys competing for the CF spot (Gonzales, Carrillo, Sas) but every other position is set. Only have 3 of 5 SPs figured out, but 4 & 5 are so close it really doesn't matter.
Ugh, my first round pick last draft, SP Pat Easterwood, has crashed in one year from 3-star potential to one half.
Hmmm now the ai is recommending that Pat “Crash” Easterwood be promoted to AA. I follow these recommendations now and then so AA it is. Maybe he will resurrect his ratings.
We finish a season in about the same about of time. AFBL is 4 sims of 7 days and NPBL is 3 sims of 10-11 days normally. Lots of crossover between the 2 leagues.
ya I believe the predication will be generated when I advance out of Spring Training. We're at the day before Opening Day.
Yes we are done with ST. Opening Day is Monday. Rosters need to be down to 26.
wow Jorge Reyes pitching very well in ST. 20 K / 4 BB in 16 ST innings. Only 2 runs allowed.
he got benched in the national cup finals and I think I'm going to give him the opening day start now
and even if he doesn't stick as a SP, he should be a good LHRP in his twilight
In NM we should have a bit more power this season with Raith starting and the addition of Reid:
C Cordero 10
DH Lopez 10 (vs R)
LF Reid 9 (not sure if he can hit ML pitching yet)
SS Martinez 8 (potential 9)
1B Santana 7
3B Raith 7
CF Rodriguez 7 (out 5 weeks)
RF Ortiz 6
2B McCrary 4 (potential 6)
Added a good arm to the bullpen, Jon Salinger (4 of 5 stars), who is coming up from Carlsbad (A). Three more RPs with great potential not quite ready for ML yet (Bachleitner, Harris and Nelson) will begin the year in AAA.
SP should be solid with still some room for development. No backsliding and I'll be happy.
Looking forward to the season!
A very young idaho team will be interesting this year. No chance to make playoffs, but lots of reasons to be excited. Lineup:
3B- 31 year old Lahoda chasing the all time steals mark,
CF- 21 year old Joe Scott.
LF- Edgardo Gallindo who at 24 is a 3 time Allstar and 2 time Gold Glover.
1B - 23 year old Sadao Tanaka.
RF - 24 year old Frank Lopez.
DH - Dave Harris (23)/Jon James (26)
C - Steve West (23)
SS - Joe Hyde (23)
2B - Manolo Gonzalez (22)
Should be a fun season in California - largely the same cast of characters as seasons past, it'd be nice if we showed up in the post-season. Feeling pretty solid about our pitching. Offense should score, all depends on how many games Garren makes it through and the health of the other big pieces
I Just hope I can hold off New York getting better and keep my LCS streak alive
How hard do you guys push prospects up to the majors? Can it break them?
I’m pushing a second tier SP prospect up, and a 3.5 star potential reliever up. Felt like the midway point between no new prospects to break camp and pushing leo bray up too early
But if I have a lost season I’ll let a rookie take some knocks. But not too long, if he’s really struggling for weeks on end I send him back down
Maybe the right way to put it is that I’ll typically play whomever in my system I think is the best player right now. If that’s a rookie who in theory has more room to develop, so be it.
I prefer not to promote guys who are still developing to sit on the bench though
I usually promote one level at a time as soon as stats seem good enough (though I try to keep most players at each level at least half a season no matter the stats). If I’m consistent about this the players sort of fall into place according to overall star ratings: .5 at rookie, 1 at A, 1.5 at AA, 2 at AAA and at least 2.5 at ML level. Which is kinda cool and makes sense I think.
So I’m pretty conservative with promotions, unless someone has a big jump in ratings. Like Salinger this year who was injured in A (for the whole season I think) and came out of it with a four star overall rating after the offseason.
It depends if I am good I usually hold a player back unless they are fully ready to start a bit.
If I am an ok team with a shot at the playoffs I am aggressive, but mostly I like to hold back till they are ready to jump into Starting lineup
I agree with Jeff I like players to play at Min a half a season at a level, more like a full season to be safe and help with development
I try to stay aggressive with my promotions but am cautious of going too fast to try to prevent prospects from stalling / getting overmatched
I will promote guys with no obvious talents to levels higher than they maybe deserve sometimes because I need a backup SS at AA or whatever though
It's possible for Flash Rodriguez to take the career NC WAR crown from Goppy this season.
In 5 years, Huerta already holds the GA career pitching WAR lead. He and Steele are 3 WAR off the overall lead. 36 WAR isn't much to brag about though.
Looks like four rookies will make the opening day roster.
Josh Holliday will start in CF for the injured Jose Rodriguez.
Gene Killy will back up at 2B and SS.
Jeff Constant will be second catcher.
Jon Salinger will be the closer.
Make that five...The new guy Brad Reid will share time at LF with Yamasaki.
I still have a couple of cuts to make but we uhh... won't have that much of a youth movement.
I will have little bit of a youth movement a little bit in my bullpen and my infield with new starting third baseman And technically Igor Will be a new Addition as well but I also did a 35-year-old first baseman so
GA had 3 rookies last year, and 2 guys who just barely lost their rookie eligibility. One, Walker CF was injured, the other at SS. Both had about 150 ABs. Bowling takes over SS for Raul Hernandez and his 7 Silver Sluggers. Hernandez lost the ability to play SS last season (rating:1) and will try out 2B this year. That -57 ZR ought to see a big improvement. Only rookie is CL Chandler. Should be good.
Pat Easterwood, P, Orlando Oceanics (NM, R), 20 yo, 2051 draft, 19th pick
he's probably good enough even for AAA but I wouldn't recommend he ever get to the show if those potentials hold
I don't mind him. He won't be an ace but I can see him at the bottom of the rotation
His stuff potential ticked back up so that’s a positive. He’s lost two from his control, down to three, if he gets that back he’ll have a chance. Quite a few guys in the system ahead of him, but definitely hanging on to him.
I am short on Minor league SP so not having the Opener option sucks LOL and I am also short on Minor league Batters in A and R so great fun
Hmm looks like Easterwood’s stuff potential only ticked up because he got switched to reliever. Oh well.
Thanks to @AJCVipers we'll get our recent vacancy with Washington filled with Larry about to join us. This will just leave Alabama as our only vacant franchise.
Welcome @Larry_Washington! I'm working on getting you added into the game now and will get a new starter file uploaded asap.
Thanks guys! This will be my third league that I'm in so my head is swimming a bit. I'll have to get used to not having financials.
But then, I'm retired so I don't have the time constraints that most/all of you do.
A lot of them are similar. Like AFBL/NPBL and with no finances those teams take me no time
I'll just have to see how easy it is to do a no financials league.
It makes the league basically a dynasty league. Building your franchise through the draft, trades, and claiming free agents (note we have an independent league, United Baseball League - UBL, that players on those rosters are available with the same rules as normal FAs).
one of my complaints with financials leagues is there's a lot of stop and start and momentum loss through free agency and the rule 5 etc.
Not quite the same as MLB opening day - but I still get a nice rush of excitement with opening days in OOTP! ⚾
Riemer van Uffelen is off to a nice start - good to see him following the Season Predictions as top pitcher in the Frontier. If he can continue to develop his change-up, he will be nasty!
Yeah - don't love his work ethic, but if he can strike everyone out, I won't complain. 🙂
Those low work ethic guys will be good for a few years if they don’t get hurt
Also - nice to see Ronnie Major off to a booming start - 4 home runs! And the guy brings his glove every day...nice to have him roaming center.
You are welcome. I knew he'd be special. Tough to give up, but worth it for Huerta.
Yeah - I cringe every time I look at Huerta, but then console myself that Major was included in the deal. 🙂
Texas and Idaho Close to making the playoffs in this season should be fun
I was really looking forward to him and Bennett leading off for my team
Juan Gallo Started off the ok But will have to step up with the loss of Hinkle
Don't worry - Texas has started hot the past few seasons, then fades to .500. 😁
Texas due to break out. Looking forward to an exciting race.
Didn’t expect a 5-3 start in Idaho. So far the injury bug has hit the low minors. Good start for my DH platoon. Let’s see how long that lasts.
The frontier league looks to be tight with seven teams predicted to have over 80 wins
..so I'm not the only one who thinks this is the year I go back tot he playoffs
would it be possible some day to change the sim so it runs in-game Mon-Sunday? It'd be nice to then use the "Last Week" timeframe to pull stats from the sim that just occurred
I think it'd just be a cool way to use a pre-set split option - on both the player and team level
Is there a Monday-Sunday view? Or is the week view restricted to Mon-Sun?
Doing Sun-Sat just since that's how the calendar is setup in OOTP.
Looks like "This Week" and "Last Week" refer to Monday thru Sunday.
Though I like the way the schedule calender shows a whole sim on one line, it really would be nice to have the sims match up with the Mon-Sun week.
Usually the only part of the sim email I read is the three top players for the sim. Would be really cool to be able to see everyone's totals.
I don't any harm in proceeding with this so I'm going to sim an extra day this sim (Sunday through Sunday) then starting next sim, are sims will run Monday-Sunday to match up with the OOTP views.
aren't ootp views Sunday to saturday though? or do you mean statsplus views? I imagine dave could program something into statsplus admin to define the league's 'week' -
I checked the This Week split in the batting stats report and it was empty. We are at Monday so if the week started on Sunday it should have included Sundays games (I think...does that make sense?).
We'll see if this switch helps out with this. I need to check myself and assumed this was talking about in OOTP not S+
3-4 week not good but Chris Ashley Winning both his starts is a positive
6-1 but couldn't catch Texas. Brad Reid hit a HR in a 1-0 win over Colorado.
3-3 as Texas moves ahead by two games. The rookie Reid hit a couple more home runs in a loss to Ohio. He’s striking out a lot but hitting .296.
so its gonna be jeckyl and hyde seasons in Idaho. 5-3, 0-7, 5-1 so far...
or if it might just be time to blow it up in a division with 3 other contenders and the fourth team on the rise
Got swept by Idaho, swept Ohio... I think I'm going to try out a 4-man rotation,
Hopefully he keeps his potential and becomes a great closer or something
3-3 sim It’s not getting better but it’s not getting bad It’s still early
So far, NM with fewest PA in AFBL and third most runs (6.49 PA/R).
I’ve updated the AFBL WordPress homepage afblbaseball.com with a new current landing page. Let me know if anyone would like an account to post writeups and such that doesn’t have one yet.
Pleasantly surprised to see NM is second youngest team in ML (behind Idaho).
Oregon had too many good players - couldn't resist. 😉
4-2 sim Could’ve been much better lost 2 games to New Mexico by a combined total of two runs
Then he did better. 4-2 against Washington and post-trade Ontario. Happy with that.
Very excited by the new players I have Centerfield is now going to be a good defence position and will hit a little bit It lets me put Luis Gonzalez back on the bench Vs RHP Which will help keep him healthy and productive for me as a Defensive OBP guy. Escobido Might become a new lead off hitter Bennett might be better in RBI role
I was relieved to see Bennett only get a couple of hits against us. Now he can go on a tear. 😃
I feel like it’s safe to say NC is back, but we are still really awful on the road.
Flash is still over .400... had a slew of offers for him the past two seasons while we were in the crapper, glad I waited it out
nice to see Idaho back at .500 after a couple of down seasons. Lahoda has been hurt and pretty bad so far, I do not see him setting the steals record in 2052.
I get completely destroyed by Illinois At home and then sweep Pennsylvania on the road
2-4 against Maryland and Texas. We caught Texas by winning first game in the series and then lost the next two to fall two behind.
On a crazy 12-0 streak. Ruvalcava with a no-hitter: https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/rt_sim/game_box_4316.html
I'd say so. You swept us and we aren't exactly chopped liver (it was in NC though)
Looks like we get Josh Garren back - is it bad that he's hurt so often that I have my changes for when he comes off/goes on the DL memorized?
Since his first full ML season (2046) he's played in just 49.8% of our games. Over the last 3+ years, that number dips to 29.5%. It's a shame too, dude used to just rake.
I even thought this year, when he gets hurt again, if he comes off the DL in late August or September of just sitting him until the playoffs
Hopefully O’Slattery didn’t get touched by that RF injury curse before he left.
I’m not intentionally tanking, per se, but just the same I welcome the chance to put more young guys in the lineup to see what they can do and keep fighting for a better draft pick
(obviously rebuilding is kind of a tank. but I’m definitely playing the players I believe the be the best remaining ones in my system)
Hot and cold 3-3 sim. Scored thirty runs in the three wins, six in the three losses.
another 3-3 sim we are just ok to start the year tho I almost lost the 15 inning game vs Ohio because they PR for my catcher who PH for my catcher so LF Tony Brin played 7 innings at catcher LOL
Van Meel picks up his second win as a Spur against his former team. 😂 https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/rt_sim/game_box_4355.html
https://statsplus.net/afbl/reports/news/html/rt_sim/game_box_4426.html
Check out this line from reliever Johnny Riley - 4 shutout innings in a relief appearance against NY
4-2 (+17 RD) to get back into the swing of things. O’Slattery with a couple of home runs (including a grand slam).
4-2 while winning both series. Illinois and California may need to look hard at how they got to this point.
not a huge deal b/c we're not going anywhere, but it looks like my export was not applied
Kind of a cold comfort, but in the Pythagorean world we are seven games up on Texas.
did my export not get pulled cause Chris Ashley was supposed to be in my Bullpen but its all good
my last export didn't take. Was a very minor change - nothing affecting the AFBL clulb but I had placed 2 guys from injured list to affiliate teams. after update they were still on injured list.
I don't know. i have noticed that if I export and the file size doesn't change the moves I made don't stick (not all the time thiough)
doesn't look like it on my side after looking at my import_export folder where your imports get pulled when i actually click that button
Well my pitching has be bad especially SP and CL most HR given up, My OF Hitting as been lost mostly and my C with hit homers but the IF has been pretty good tho I really think I miss Ty Hinkle when he comes back maybe we get hot just like last year but IDK if he will make it back to help us
in this case I think my file size changed. but that's a good thing for me to be on the lookout for
Does anyone know a way to find a list of transactions from a prior export? Unfortunately, I made a bunch of changes in my minor leagues last night, but it didn't take. And I downloaded the updated league file before I realized that the export didn't take from last night.
NM on pace to just about match the season home run record. If the just-added O’Slattery can stay healthy and with Jose Rodriguez coming back next sim (usually good for 30+) we might have a shot at beating it.
From another league I am in 'I think I have PTSD from exporting in previous versions where if you did multiple exports it would not take properly so I'd always try to do everything before exporting. Perhaps that's changed and I don't need to.'
More likely I just failed to like I have previously but will keep an eye out.
It’s weird - i usually do multiple exports. But every now and then i make a small move that doesn’t change the size of the database and it doesn’t take.
4-2 that was a much better sim & the Sweep of New York was much needed confidence boost
5-1 sim. Tied with Texas now. Offense rolling with 20 home runs and 59 runs in the six games.
3-3 dropped the series to NC. Can’t let that happen if we’re going to make our 13th(?) consecutive playoffs
Well, took the little showdown vs NM, but then choked away a couple against Idaho which wasn't ideal
Home run dream took a bit of a hit but we managed nine even with two shutouts.
Can we get a redo? 😜 Cris Colon out 15 months - really feels like our playoff hopes go with him.
5-1 to move ahead of Texas by three games.
Idaho 3-3. I think we are a year ahead of where I thought we would be, so I am a little confused as to how to proceed... lol
Any idea what the schedule around new year's will be? Just trying to plot out how long I have to trade guys and when I can look forward to the next season. (Rebuilds get boring.)
I'll probably do the same next week as this week. Mon-Tues-Wed and then we'll break until Mon Jan 4
Looking at upcoming sim vs. NY and Oregon and noticed Mario Cruz hit his 500th home run earlier this season. Up to 502 but hasn't hit one since May 16th. Needs three more to pass Jonathon DeBorthwick and move into 6th place.
13 behind Flash Rodriguez. Barring injury might catch him this season or at least get close.
DeBorthwick was 1B with the Danger from 2021-39 (retired the year before I joined up).
Looks like we threw at him next game!
6-7 weeks for Santana vs a week dtd for Cruz. We still have work to do.
finally, a team sweeps us like we deserve.
Warhawks CL Jesus Garbizo earned his 300th save in June too @cmyru82
Railroaders 3B Bubba Pelan is 40 hits away from 3000 @qdog915_pa
Lions 3B Jimmy Williams is 158 hits away from 3000 @Zach - KY
Bears 3B Noseworthy is 52 hits away from 3500 (but likely will be in AAA rest of season 😞)
Williams probably won’t make it this year, we’ll see if he wants to hang around for one more!
Jimmy Williams is also 3 homeruns away from 400
Bears 2B/3B Diederick Kooijman is 12 homers away from 450
Steelheads 3B Ken Lahoda is 3 stolen bases away from 800 @lt - Idaho
Resonance SPs Jesus Cruz and Juan Ramos are 3 and 4 wins away from 200 @Larry_Washington
Lahoda is about 40 short of the all time record. But he is slowing down so it is going to be interesting...
I’m really happy Jorge Ramirez won the series with me last year one of the top pitchers in all of our games history
“To not win that (first) game (against Idaho) stings a little bit.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Split the series’ this sim. Need a few big ones if I’m going to turn things around.
I've added two new posts on the AFBL website in hopes to continue to keep things semi-updated there with content. If you'd like to post articles about your team or the league, let me know and I can set you up to do so. Thanks guys! https://afblbaseball.com/
I've posted about our vacancy in other league Slacks, Reddit, and about to do the same on OOTP Forum. Hopefully we can get Alabama filled soon.
Reddit post - https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/comments/kmify1/openings_in_2_leagues_ootp20_fictional_no_finances/

Sounds like I found someone that would like to join one of my openings here or NPBL from the StatsPlus Slack. Nick will be taking over Alabama here so we can be full again!
Welcome @Nick (Alabama) to the league! Happy to have you as a member.
Well crap just noticed that v2 of my 4 schedules for us has the All-Star Game on a day earlier than the other 3 versions. We'll have to include the Sunday July 14th games with the ASG sim on Monday Jan 4 (Sim 15). I'll fix this for time time around rotating our schedules.
Ahh I think I only need to use v3 and v4 looking at the 4 and forgot about the adjustment I had someone make for my request on the OOTP Boards. I'll likely just remove v1 and v2 from the rotation since they look to match v3 and v4 with the extra day in the ASG break being the difference.

# This schedule has a sibling that switches the home/away of all matchups

Anyone that would like to log into StatsLab (previous main OOTP utility that I still keep updated), the link is here https://afblbaseball.com/statslab and default password is baseball (or baseball1, never can remember which lol).
Well, we ran our winning streak to 11, but of course since my franchise is cursed, we lost one of our best hitters and cornerstone defenders, SS George Van Arem, for 2+ months
2-3. Starting pitching has become a dice roll, as the game likes to put it, and hitting is slumping.
New post on the AFBL WordPress to try to keep myself doing this going forward as a habit 😄 https://afblbaseball.com/?p=540
Kentucky Struggles in First Half, Hopes to Rebound After All-Star Break (2052)
https://afblbaseball.com/?p=539
Did a little write-up about Dave Cross, he’s really struggled this year after coming over from the Mallards in an offseason deal.
https://afblbaseball.com/?p=550
Another small StatsPlus update today from the change blog found here: https://headwayapp.co/statsplus-updates
So Ken Daniels has been removed from the closer role in Ontario And freshly minted Allstar Dan Thompson is taking over the role Coincidentally Ken Daniels blew his fifth save of the season In the final game before the All-Star break The talent is still there but the results are not.
And after being sent to the minors by New Mexico last season Dominic Bennett is an all star again
wow game, thanks for throwing my closer 4 innings in the All Star game. Sheesh
Wow the All-Star game was in Ontario and they didn’t put Dominic Bennett in until the 13th inning.
Currently we have 2 days of break post ASG.. wonder if we should add another day or two on either/both sides of the ASG?
my pref is games every sim, but as usual I am not gonna rock the boat if the majority wants to do something different.
I think my preference is also games every sim but I don't care that much is what I'm saying
This year we had the game included since this version of our schedule only had 1 day off before the ASG. Going forward we have 2 days off before and after the ASG.
I would be fine adding a 3rd day before and after the ASG to make sure players are rested up for the 1st game of the 2nd half.
I actually thought players rest and such wasn’t impacted by the ASG but sounds like it is?
I know injuries are turned off for the ASG. I thought the same was true of rest
I've had pitchers pitch and turn around and start on the first game back
I think fatigue does exist after the ASG unless there's a feature to shut it off I'm not aware of.
I’m wondering if 3 or even 4 days after would be better than the current 2 days post ASG.
Side note, is there a way to see who's played in the most All-Star games? I don't think there is but it would be cool
Flash Rodriguez just played his 11th, that might be a record for Catchers... or not
They would definitely have that answer I believe I saw it in the stat of the day options
Flash only didn't make the all-star game his rookie year (.241-4-25) but he didn't get called up until a month into the season.
He even made it his 2nd year when he hit just .284-11-61, though he may have had a hot start.
Every season since then he's been an all-star and finished with at least 6.1 WAR
11th is impressive. my guy Raul Silva made 10, but at least 1 was as a DH, possibly more.
I’ll sim 7/19 through 7/28 tomorrow. I didn’t get that date right. Also means trade deadline is Monday 8/5 since we moved our sim schedule.
5-4 sim. I'd hoped we'd come out of this sim 5-4 but didn't expect to have to sweep the Bulldogs to do it.
poor sim, but Lahoda becomes the second player over 800 steals. At 32, he's slowing down but is 37 short of tying the all time record.
was hoping for a better showing vs NM, but the 3 losses were by 4 total runs so I can't get too perturbed. Nice to see that otherwise we handled business at 5-1, +18
18 blown saves this season. Hopefully that will improve next season.
On the positive side we’re still on track to break the home run record with 15 this sim.
Well that sucked, Instead of getting 8 inning shut out vs NY My call up loses 😔
It crashed on me when I loaded the sim. OOTP21 isn't much better but it's slightly better. Hopefully 22 is a little more stable.
for me OOTP 21 has had no crashes but it auto saves now when low on computer memory which cost me a Solo Universe but yeah lets hope 22 is better, I will mention it to my dad who is on the beta team
oh that’s super interesting - statsplus seems to have not sent in results to my channel for the “repeated” days
This was my fault for not restarting StatsPlus on the re-start of the sim
also, Oregon went 5-1: I demand a re-sim! We lost more games in the crashed half-sim than we did in the full, non-crashed sim
4-2, but slipped to four games ahead of Texas. 1B Esteban Santana (.307/.355/.518) comes off the IL and goes to rehab.
And nice to see CF Jose Rodriguez starting to hit after his post-rehab slump.
Rookie LF Brad Reid (.269/.336/.630) has hit 22 home runs in 67 games so far, sharing time with Yamasaki (demoted to AAA) and Bryce McInnis.
Looks like we have 9 weeks of season left, which means I should get Tony Rincon, Dave Winter, and Leonardo Mendoza back in time to see if any of their injuries had lingering effects
Is there any way to change the timeframe of stats you’re seeing in StatsPlus? For example: I’d love to see my post all star game stats. Team or player stats or both?
Between specific dates would be really great if it’s not already a feature.
I think that is a new feature https://headwayapp.co/statsplus-updates/date-range-on-player-stats-180363 @Zach - KY
Oops forgot to come back to that. Will update soon!
NM rookie outfielder Josh Holliday with four stolen bases in a game against Minnesota.
Much needed sweep of Georgia for the Aviators to stay in a tie for the top wildcard spot with Ohio.
3-3 sim. Pushed lead to six with Texas having trouble against California and Colorado. Esteban Santana goes down with a torn hammy (6-7 weeks) in his first week of rehab 😕. Replacement (against RHP) Tim Barron is better defensively and has done a great job with the bat (.392/.423/.608) in 20 games.
Yes thanks! Nice to get a bit more breathing room despite a .500 sim.
After 114 games, Washington has finally reached .500. Don't know if there's enough time but we're trying!
I just checked and every one of my teams except I think single A is feuding right now. What kind of franchise did I take over?
It’s something that you don’t think about for a few years, then you look at the page and boom, who knew everyone was at each other’s throats?!
At least his onfield production hasn’t dipped, but boy he doesn’t help everyone else
Sent a reliever down, but Peck isn’t going anywhere, and Riley is bullpen ace.
Feuding and the bar still has some room for shrinking. What comes after feuding? Fisticuffs?
Probably! Can’t believe we are at .500 in such a tough division. Giving a few young guys shots this second half.
Called up SS Steve Puckett to play utility man off the bench. Power hitter with low contact, 27 year-old rookie.
Anyone know what all the levels are? I’ve seen feuding, unhappy, content, happy and ecstatic. I guess that might be it if it’s balanced on both sides of content.
I just like when it says "enjoy the playoffs" The rest of the time I just direct their complaints to Dr. Phil
I’ve been rolling with some sketchy personalities for a few years.. guess this is what the end looks like 😅
Trade Deadline AFBL Roster Expansion will be by Tuesday 1/19's Sim 22
3-3 sim. Lead drops to five over Texas. Recently signed backup catcher Pete Myers not hitting a lick but doing a good job as the Danger's new captain.
Updating yesterday's post after every sim to track HR quest progress or lack thereof.
Tight race between Ohio, Maryland, New York, North Carolina & Ontario.... All within 4 games of each other. Maryland & New York tied atop the PL North.
Also Dave Harris who is signed out of independent ball after being released in 2050 I think got his first career win
Yeah I’m pretty excited he’s not gonna be like a starter on a good team but for a replacement he is not bad
We get our starting CF and 2B back after Monday's sim, so that should help. Not sure there's anything good enough in AAA to help when rosters expand
😂😂😂 100 wins wow lol my SP ERA this season is 5.26!!!! With the most HR given up
Office has been pretty good basically 3rd or 4th best but with the 9th best pitching in a 10 team league 👀👀
Man, NC is nearly all the way down to .500. Get our starting 2B back now and and starting CF 1 game into tomorrow's sim, so hopefully we can get back on track
4-2 sim. Rookie LF Brad Reid hit four home runs and was named FL player of the week. If things go well we may get 1B Esteban Santana back for the last week of the season vs. MN and NC.
HR update: https://afblbaseball.com/?p=564
3-3 sim keeps us right where we’ve been all year. On the plus side, nice 3 HR sum for rookie Steve Puckett!
Shocker, dominant all year so now OOTP just injures a player each sim to keep it interesting
Holding steady over Texas with a 4-2 sim. SP Shawn Jenkins suspended for five games. Might bench Bob McCrary, his defense has not been good. Thirteen errors for a guy rated 10 in infield errors. ZR of -8.4 and his range keeps dropping. Three years ago in his rookie year his ZR was +8.8.
It’s not gonna happen this year but man I think we’re gonna be good for a while here
My pen and hitting look good long term, and I should graduate 3-4 SP next year and still have a great farm
I’m one game out of wild card and for games out of division I need Goodwins over all my opponents to get me to the next level
RP Robbie Anderson (AAA) had his changeup go from 2 to 9. Three quality pitches now but he's 9/5/5 as a starter so probably wont ever make the rotation. Has had bumps to movement and control potential though so we'll see. ⛄
...and another player down and out for the playoffs. #thanksootp
Yeah, if I've got a good enough lead I start putting folks on pitch counts and rotating them out of the starting lineup more often because OOTP has burned me too many times.
Which is ridiculous because that then forces me to punt on Home Field, which given how close NM and I are, could make the entire difference
2-4 sim for the lions. Could never really break out this season. Maybe we’re just old and tired
4-2 with an extra inning loss and a bottom of the ninth loss. Relief pitching has cost us quite a few games this season though overall stats are good. Getting hammered in key situations.
Need 35 home runs in 24 games to break the home run record. Had 40 in the last 24 games so it's going to be close. Amazes me that we've kept up the pace to this point in the season. Trying to get guys a little extra rest for the playoffs as well which will make it tougher.
https://afblbaseball.com/?p=564
Just 4 games out of WC2 - we need a few guys to step up! Patriot league is full of good teams.
That was exactly what I needed 6-0 sim but god dam new York goes 5-1 ughh
Young team fell apart. Still in it but not looking good for a playoff season in Idaho
Scary sim. 3-3 but started with two shutout losses vs Washington. Lost 4-3 (1 HR) in the final game. Then boom, we outscored Illinois 23-5 (7 HRs) in a sweep. Stayed five up on Texas. Cold and hot.
What had looked like a lost season now finds us knocking on the door of a WC slot. Go Resonance! I really need to change that name...
And my MVP Eric Steele goes down for the season! Near perfect health all season and to make up for it, my top guy goes down.
Another injury to a MIF for the Dawgs today, luckily just a week. Phew. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw it
pretty much the opposite of Idaho. 5-14 in September. ON 8-25 we were 88%, now around 14%. brutal September/October schedule and young team...
not over, but playing mostly playoff teams/contenders the rest of the way. Going to have to earn our way in!
i think this team is better than the bottom of the league but not in the class of the top teams. 81-81 seems to make sense (which would mean a 5-13 finish)...
I never know how much weight to give the playoff odds esp during September and a close wildcard race. The 5000 sims are only using winning percentages in a formula to determine the winner of each remaining game (If I understand correctly). So if that’s true, September roster changes, recent injuries (that have not yet impacted winning percentages much), matchup advantages, ballparks etc don’t get factored in.
you know the old 'thats why they play the games'...
Welcome @PennGM (PA) haha. I think Ohio GM from another league he's in 😄
Its all good for me lol just didn't want @ohio to think he has been let go 😜 his team is doing well
wait a minute 😄
Washington is roaring back and will probably overtake me for a playoff sport
4-2. Moved another game ahead of Texas. Up six now with Georgia and Texas coming up.
How huge is this 3-game series with Ohio tomorrow? They lead us by 1 game for the final wildcard spot
Yeah, we play 3 games @ Arizona (2nd place FL West) while Ohio plays 3 @ California (1st place FL West) before we go head to head, so these will be some hard-fought games between playoff level teams...
My last 3 games are on the road against 92-win New Mexico too. Man, this is an uphill climb but Ohio has a tougher schedule than us even.
Two of our last four series are against California and New York. It won't be an easy task to catch Arizona. I had my chance a week ago when we lost two out of three against the Vipers.
Getting swept earlier this month by the last-place Mallards is probably going to come back to haunt me
But New Mexico cast-off Jorge Luna has been a great free agent pickup for us... 3-1 with a 0.97 WHIP in 5 starts
We had a big going-away party for Jorge 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁.Glad he’s found a spot.
Coming down to the wire in the home run quest. Need 17 to tie and 18 to set a new record in the final 12 games. Faced the 1st and 3rd best teams in HRA, Washington and California, in the past two sims. Now Georgia which is 2nd.
Lions finally win back to back series just in time for the season to end
2-4 semi-disaster. Only two home runs and swept by Texas. Still lead by four with Minnesota and North Carolina coming up to end the season. Hopefully Jorge Luna will offer up a few to his former teammates. 😏
It just seems every time I Hinkle comes off the IL We just start playing well
Woo, got the franchise wins mark at 103. Now time to have some actual postseason success. We're one of two title-less franchises, despite this year being out 17th playoff appearance
5-1, probably too little too late for Idaho. In fun news (for the stat nerds),
Good luck in the last week folks. AL continues to rebuild. We're a mess top-down but will be watching in envy as the playoffs near.
If you need a SP for your final push to the playoffs hell yeah bring him up
seems to me that calling up starting Ambrosio Lopez 6 times makes a lot more sense 😂
But he doesn’t qualify for the playoffs cause I’m just calling him
Up now right?
Dude last year are used to players who played a combine two games for me for 40 games in the playoffs
I know you’re Canadian so I’m sorry it doesn’t sound tough
Kentucky can make the playoffs with a 4-2 finish I bet. They play the two teams ahead of them and those teams are playing first place teams when they aren’t playing Kentucky
I just realized that AA SP Jeff Holman had some late-season development, and merits a September (now October) callup. He'll start a game this next sim, making him the twelfth pitcher to start a game for the Explorers this year.
You’re going to be nice to me for the last three games this year right you’re gonna roll over this time 😂😂
Choppy Orozco has broken his own team record for HR again. Tied it with 44 in 2044. Set it with 46 in 2045. Then again with 49 in 2048. This year he has 52 with 6 games to go.
Down to the last sim of the regular season and we need 16 home runs to break the record, 15 to tie. Still a possibility, we hit 20 earlier this season, but with only two in the last sim it's not looking good. Currently ranked 10th at 263. Still excited to see what happens despite the odds. Need some luck (the good kind) against Minnesota and North Carolina. 🍀
Remember games only allowed to crash if I lose the first 2 games of the sim 😜
Kentucky had a ton of fire power this year, just not enough pitching, It’s technically not over yet, but I don’t have high hopes
Final game coming up. Last item to decide for the playoffs is the final wildcard in the FL. Will it be Arizona or Idaho? Good luck 😄
but for me another 5-1 sim and I am the Division champ AND in a surprise the top team in the PL
this was August 25th
Didn't want to spoil anything early but yup Arizona and Idaho finished with same record so they'll have a 1 game playoff whenever both teams are ready today or tomorrow.
You can just go ahead and sim on my end so long as the next SP up is healthy
Wow - ok i am at a covid test for
My son. May be a bit before i am ready
Thanks. He’s sick for sure. No fever or loss of senses but everything else
3-3 to win the East by two games. Feel like the underdog going against Texas in the first round.
Hit 13 home runs this sim but came up three short of the record. Ended up with 276 to tie 2021 NM for 2nd. Two behind 2020 NM which had 278. The Danger have the top three spots now.
Negative. So good news. On my way to work. I’ll check the team and export once there. Figure an hour or so
I eagerly await whichever of you will totally OOTP me in the 1st round
Well, glad the Mallards season is finally put out of its misery. 🤪 this team confuses me.
I will say, players in AFBL can be super-inconsistent. My ace of the last 2 years took didn't lose ratings, but struggled all year and is likely headed to the pen for the post-season
Next season Jorge Ramírez will become the 13th pitcher in AFBL to have 3000K
5-1 sim to the finish line! 2 games behind New Mexico...too little too late for the division, but a great season-long battle.
Looking forward to continuing the battle into the playoffs @Matt Y - Texas Spurs !
Dealing with work but will be able to run Game 163 for Idaho-Arizona after this
we did everything we could to throw the playoffs away going 7-18 in September then went 10-2 to make the made dash to the finish.
also shout out to @cmyru82 first winning season since 2032
pretty solid bullpen. IF I believed in openers and followers I probably would be better off, but i hate that shit
Hildo Stam start for 2 or 45 pitches and Jarred Hill follow there's 5 innings LOL
I was big-time anti-opener for a long time, but my hand got kinda forced in another league I'm in and it's honestly been insanely successful
Check out the Starter/Reliever numbers of this guy: https://statsplus.net/thedugout/reports/news/html/players/player_1353.html
Dude same tho I really like the strategy of openers and I might try it some day
In real Life it gave Wilmer Font a paycheck he was dope as opener for Jays shit pitching at another time
i will probably regret starting a very average pitcher but stubborn old me is sticking with it.lol
Yeah, I mean part of it is sample-size - only 5 starts before I did it, and he was a good SP for awhile, but he's at like 13+ K/9 as a follower
i had someone in another league tell me how effective it was for him too. i just find it is not good for baseball - lol
I actually on that team now have two opener/follower pairs - guided a pretty mediocre team into the LCS which is happening shortly
well my 26 game improvement from last year is more than enough of a prize. playing with house money now...
Thanks everyone and congrats @lt - Idaho on being healthy in real life and a good season here
Hey is there a way for me to view this game like those mlb 2k vids KY posts?
I think that’s all @Zach - KY recreating it on his side which is awesome 😄
Thanks! How about this - I’ll try to get in a playoff recap this year. Depending on timing - It’ll take a weekend!
Oregon might have to experiment with openers/followers next season if we still look likely to be bad to mediocre
you put the follower in the rotation and if you have more than one guy listed as an opener you have no control over who opens
(and if you only have one opener and he's tired the game will start your follower)
if you want, last few years i have had no SP in AA and A so its been rough
honestly thought the change was global but makes sense that it would be specific to each league
yeah its actually pretty simple the follower is your every 5 day guy and you should have more then one opener unless you have a Wilmer Font who excels in the role and I believe the highest rested guy should Open but I haven't used it alot in my Solo so its still pretty new for me
also if there is Openers make sure you check your settings to how you want the lineup set because some set it up for the follower
presumably you'd want the opener to be, like, a high quality setup type pitcher. not sure there's much point to throwing a schlub
I'm probably exposing how little attention I've paid to MLB the last couple years here
for me its High stuff velocity guy low walks who gets 2 innings which is yeah can be Setup guy but desnt have to be my ideal guy would be Chris Ball 2 top teir pitches good stuff low walks but Jon Morgan and Frazier Taylor would both work instead of using up good Pen arm Who pitching 2 innings is expected.
these guys are from my AFBL team BTW
Tampa does this a lot and the Jays play them alot plus we hired their bench coach to manage so this has been a frequent discussion topic for Blue jays twitter
https://www.matthewrstreeter.com/ootp/afbl/statslab/playoffs.php from StatsLab if anyone is curious. Default password for your login is baseball. StatsLab is another OOTP Utility like StatsPlus that we used initially.
Texas is exported and ready. I need to stop tweaking things. 🙂
I went with NM lite that game too. Weird. But it’s nice to show some life against Texas. They beat us in season series 12-6 and stifled us last series.
Yeah, it's OOTP though. The 1st round heavy favorite is a common death knell
but still, my team is too far down in pitching talent for that to happen here
@AJCVipers your pitching probably won’t allow you to win the title this season but you can def get out of round 1.
My prospects are developing though. My pitchers are improving in rates and my two top hitting prospects Villarreal and Murphy are going up too
I had zero expectations going in and I was relaxed and feeling great. Now we won the first two games and I’m on edge.
Looks like schedule is 2H 2A 1H 1A 1H. Are we going to do sims to match?
I guess if we are simming 2 at a time I don’t have to make that call right now
Ya thanks for catching that @jeffnewmexico. We'll follow the playoff travel schedule we actually have here in AFBL lol. Schedule is 2H 2A 1H 1A 1H, not 2H 3A 2H.
I guess that depends on exports and what the twins let Street do tonight
Let's rip this band-aid off quick...put us out of our misery - Texas is ready (no changes). 💥
Technically I’ve already said I’m ready to go but that’s because I was at work I’m not at work anymore lol so might as well export lol My show just ended 😂
Haha ya 3.5 yo boy/girl twins. Work has been crazy this week. We'll sim soon good luck guys!
How weird, I can’t open that link and follow along + no slack updates.
Lol there was a 12 inning game. Swear I clicked the button but obviously not. Suspense 😂😬
A blown save prevents a sweep apparently. Looks like we are up 3-1.
We tried, but Ronnie Major wasn’t having it!
Good news for you - he has a day-to-day. Only impacts his running, but still...
Geez! Not one HR! what the crap. #1 in HRs and can't get one in this series...what the..lol
Still a chance I have part of my rotation develop more but there seems to be an unbreakable ceiling in NM for SP. They can have great potential in the minors but once they hit ML dev grinds to a halt without fail. Have better luck with relievers.
Same here @jeffnewmexico I have so much more successful MR over the years most of my Drafted SP haven’t panned out at all
and if anyone doesn't get it Jeff Hoffman was drafted 9th overall in 2014 some say he could have gone #1 if he didn't get hurt
Unfortunately both have wrong middle name but first and last is close.
Weird thing is I had three free agents in my rotation this year. I drafted McCormick and he’s hit a wall. Jenkins was drafted I think but as a reliever. He got injured and lost potential and his job, but eventually turned himself into a decent starter. So four have had strange paths to the rotation.
They don't seem to matter much lol
I actually will probably put one on the block this offseason to make room for Ramirez
I do have 19-year-old SP Jeff Todd (another free agent I think) coming along nicely. Ended the year in AA at 8/6/5 (pot. 10/7/8), 2-star overall, 5-star potential. But his third pitch is a 3-potential changeup. With an already excellent sinker and knuckle curve he might be ok with that though.
Hoping he will be the one to break through.
Looks like everyone is ready to continue. I'll grab exports and instructions for Game 5 in a few minutes. Good luck!
Blowing a 3-0 lead will be a nice thing to add to my playoff failures wall
Jeepers don’t hit anything to shortstop! The ai put Josh Holliday in for Cisco who’s flu is worse than I thought I guess.
Turns out Josh Holliday has pretty good infield ratings. Actually gained a SS rating of one this game I think. Good to know. Sorry ai!
Congratulations @ohio you took down the champs No go win the chip bro!!!
Congrats @jeffnewmexico! Wish we had given you more grief, but go make our division proud!
Thanks @Matt Y - Texas Spurs ! You handled us pretty easily all year, not sure how we turned it around in the playoffs 🤷♂️. Looking forward to next season!
Don’t see any injuries on my end so I’m ready for the next game @AFBL Commish
nice of Rocha to return to form with a win, now time to see if Wilson can. Dawgs are in
Grats @tjsmith7_georgia! We are going to have a long talk with our hitters...what a sorry showing! Good luck!
I'll grab exports for Game 6 between Arizona and California in a moment @AJCVipers @jeheinz72
If it’s all the same with everyone else and CA is ready, just sim the next game right after (assuming I had no injuries)
Good game so far. Will the Vipers fight back or do the Bulldogs have it?
But I’ve been playing in various leagues since 2011 and always made
The playoffs and never gotten to the series
I also dominated NPBL the past two seasons and got bounced by an 88 win team twice lol
Well, hopefully we can scrounge up some luck and sneak by the Bullfrogs.
I’ve been playing this game since 04, Won my first title last year so it happens lol I enjoy the ride
Dawgs are in, GL @jeffnewmexico - should be a good series, you guys roughed us up pretty good in the regular season, winning 8 of 12
Top offense vs top pitching, and the 3rd best offense against the 3rd best pitching
Awesome looks like our final four are ready. I'll grab exports in a moment for the start of the LCS round. Good luck @jeffnewmexico @jeheinz72 @ohio @tjsmith7_georgia
Lots of good pitching so far. Ex-Explorers Cahill and O’Slattery helping the Danger pull even. Nice job by Jenkins.
I’ve got an injury since @jeffnewmexico and his pitching headhunted Van Arem so I won’t be able to export til tonight 😀
I’ll have a talk with McCormick and give him a pat on the back.
I saw that injury. Big blow. Hate when injuries and fights take out key players in the playoffs
Just your standard 5 inning-blown save -win. Good thing my closer was drafted as a starter!
Looks like we're ready for Game 3 and 4. I'll start things in a moment. Good luck! @tjsmith7georgia @ohio @jeffnew_mexico @jeheinz72
Games 3 and 4 completed. I’m going to do FA claims now before I forget again 😄.
ran an audible on my game 4 starter. Forgot to limit his pitches and it bit me.
Looks like we're ready to go for Game 5. I'll be grabbing exports for that in a few minutes. Good luck! @jeffnewmexico @jeheinz72 @ohio @tjsmith7_georgia
Ohio put the beat down on Georgia’s ace but the bats said Nahh we going to finals
Mets 🤮
Amazing! Huerta destroyed with 9 hits in 2nd inning. He just hasn't been an ace this year. Starting his decline.
I am a lazy gifer. I just picked the first one.
Closer Chandler with 2 wins and 2 saves should have won the MVP. And should win ROY.
Good series @jeheinz72. We were somehow able to find enough timely hits to win games.
Looking forward to the Cup Series vs Georgia. Have no idea what to expect. Good luck @tjsmith7_georgia!
good series @jeffnewmexico - you had our number all year, good luck against GA
...and I already broke the news to Matt, but with our season ending, my run as GM of the Dawgs has come to an end. Work has picked back up from COVID and I just don't have the time for quite so many leagues. It's been a pleasure gents, and good luck. I'm sure I'll check in from time to time, and I'm still running the NPBL Scorps through seasons end or whenever Matt finds a replacement if that happens in-season. Thanks to @AFBL Commish for doing such a great job running the two leagues
Hey sorry to see you go @jeheinz72 It’s been a pleasure to manage against you in both leagues
Definitely will miss you in both leagues @jeheinz72. Don't be a stranger in the future if your time frees back up 😄.
Looks like GA and NM are ready to start the Federation Cup Series. I'll be grabbing exports and starting Game 1 soon. @tjsmith7georgia @jeffnew_mexico
NM has the stronger offense by a good margin. I have a superior bullpen. WE'll see how they match up.
Considering whether Steele can play with a bad knee. Kirk Gibson did it.
We’re good to go. Nice to see Sam Raith get on base a couple times. He has been cold cold cold.
Gene Killy with the only RBI in game one. He’s been doing a nice job since McCray got benched in September. Big upgrade defensively at second. Hitting .370 in the playoffs.
Lots of new players since last year. Three via trade and six rookies I think.
Most runs scored against us so far in the playoffs (7). Need to get some hitting going.
Carpenter needed an inning to get loose. Might've had a bit of fatigue left over, but should have been fine.
Just in case there is someone that would like to shift their AFBL franchise control to the California Bulldogs from your current team, let me know. Wanted to see if that interested anyone before pushing to fill the vacancy.
Gene Killy, hitting .415 in playoffs, moved to second spot in lineup this game and came through with three hits.
Yeah that’s weird. Correct in the channels though. That seems to happen a lot esp all star games.
It happens when you have box scores from other years The game ID overlap sometimes
Ooh RP Don Cahill out for four months. He’s been reliable in the postseason.
Struggling mightily against urge to shake things up a bit. Don’t really want to mess with what got us this far but...
4-2 GA win. Tight games! Pitching came through. Leadoff hitter CS twice.
NM had 2 guys thrown out at 3rd. Could've been a different game.
Yep possibly ran ourselves out of opportunities. But those CS balanced it out.
Just noticed Tim Barron hitting .472. Two rookies Barron and Killy getting on base.
Power has gone pretty quiet, which can happen against top HRA teams. Disappointing though.
Planned on a new file but can proceed if @jeffnewmexico is good. No worries if you'd prefer to export changes.
That's the plan but honestly can do 1 game sims the rest of the way if needed too. No need to rush through the title series 😄.
might as well keep following the H-A schedule. 2-2-2-2-1, but I'm good with either way.
Rookie RP Bachleitner survives his first inning of relief in playoffs. At least I don’t think he’s pitched yet.
