Raul Silva obliterated our all time runs scored in 1 season. He is now at 126 with 3 games left
Ken Lahoda reaches 200 hits for only the fifth time in Idaho team history
Heading into the 2046 season the Idaho pitching staff will likely be the same as 2045. Anchored by Jorge Reyes and Juan Guevara, 2 veterans each with over 100 AFBL wins to the credit. They will be followed by Steady lefty Derrick English and young Jose Ortega. The 5th spot will be either Rodrigo Martinez and Jorge Orozco to start the season.
Anibal Gonzalez, he of 317 career saves will be the closer and much of the BP will be the same as 2045.
On offense, the big changes will be in the outfield where Greg Moore and Dusty Braun are at risk of losing their starting roles to you Jim Field and 2042 1st round pick Jorge Degollado. Degollado, should be make it, would give the club 3 Jorge's making regular contributions.
24 year old Micah Jackson will platoon at SS with veteran Anibal Rodriguez against righties and will get the bulk of the action against lefties.
Raul Silva is 31 home runs shy of 300 and 32 steals short of 500 for his career. The 30 year old DH is coming off a 40 home run, 64 stolen base season.
Raul Silva 40 home runs for the 4th time. And 6th time over 50 steals
Idaho makes the playoffs for the 10th time in the clubs history. This includes in 8 of the last 10 seasons.
Greg Moore, RF, Retired
Greg Reese, P, Detroit HS Red Wings
Artie Moore, P, Mesa HS Warlords
Rob Moore, P, Wasco HS War Lords
Rob Moore, P, Free Agent
Dan Strickland, 3B, Retired
Darryl Strickland, 2B, Retired
Greg Strickland, 1B, Free Agent
Dan Bertrand, CF, Pennsylvania Railroaders
Dan Richardson, 2B, Savannah Storm (GA)
Milestones upcoming : ken Lahoda (983) and Dan Willis (944) approaching 1000 hits.
Pitcher Milestones: Juan Guevara reached 150 wins and is 43 strikeouts short of 2500
Anibal Gonzalez reached 50 wins, 700 games and is 25 saves short of 400
Not a great start for mal Cantrell - 6-34 with 13 strikeouts
After 15 seasons in the minors (a 2032 scouting discovery) Antonio Rodriguez has been called up for middle relief.
Somehow Idaho won our 4th division title. Was a team effort for sure as we had very few star performances this season.
Crazy wild card series - Idaho grabbed a 3-0 lead in games only to drop the next 3 and trail into the 9th of game 7. Scoring a clutch run in the 9th Idaho prevailed in 12 and moves on.
Unreal playoff run including 3 insane comebacks, 2 versus Washington and one against Maryland. Lots of parallels from this team to the 2039 club. Need to dig in closer
Congras to Pepe Aguilera, Damian Lipton, Raul Silva, Anibal Gonzalez, and Juan Guevera for being part of all 4 Idaho championship teams.
/player Damian Lipton has been released. After an excellent career he has bounced between AAA and the majors the past few years to provide guidance and leadership.
Damian Lipton, 1B, Free Agent
Damian Fromm, P, Retired
Damian Newman, P, Free Agent
Damian Conrad, P, Ft. Wayne College Steamrollers
Damian Norman, P, Santa Barbara Water Wolves (CA)
Pepe Aguilera is probably not going to make the 2048 squad - if he does it will be purely as a defensive specialist and pinch runner.
I am giving the 2047 Idaho Steelhead MVP to Derrek English. 15-12 208 IP and a 3.54 ERA. 3.9 WAR
Anibal Gonzalez had another stellar year as the closer, 3.2 WAR 43 saves and 3 blown saves
2048 Season milestones:
Dan Wills 500 runs (456)
Raul Silva 1000 RBI (968)
Raul SIlva 600 SB (564)
Ken Lahoda 500 SB (472)
Gianni Girard 200 SB (176)
Raul Silva 800 BB (749)
Raul Silva 60 WAR (58.5)
Juan Guevara 400 GS (392)
Jorge Reyes 300 GS (280)
Anibal Gonzalez 400 Saves (398)
Picking 20th Idaho selected 16 year old right handed Mexican pitcher Juan cuellar - drafting a 16 year is is quite a gamble but one Idaho felt was worth it.
With no pick until the end of round 3 we sit around waiting...
pick 60 is a young CF who looks like he will ne a very good defensive player with speed. Idaho is drafting very young players who won't likely sniff the bigs for 4-5 seasons if they make it at all.
/player anibal Gonzalez wins reliever of the year for a second straight season
Ănibal 'Gonzo' GonzĂĄlez, P, Idaho Steelheads
Juan GonzĂĄlez, CF, Kissimmee Rage (OH)
Juan 'Velociraptor' GonzĂĄlez, LF, Austin HS Anteaters
Juan GonzĂĄlez, P, Washington Resonance
Juan GonzĂĄlez, SS, West Virginia Hollers
Idaho is slowly dismantling the club. Reyes and English have been dealt as well as Dan Willis. Letâs see how the rest of the season plays out with young pitchers.
Catcher soetsu akiyama has been dealt for prospects. The steelheads are going to mostly a youth movement. More to follow...
Superstar closer Anibal Gnnzalez has been injured. With 415 career saves, this is a blow to Idaho. Newly acquired Juan Maldonado will assume the closer duties while Anibal is out.
Gonzalez made his 7th all star team, Silva his 10th and first time for lahoda.
Strangely none of the Idaho players got into the game (Gonzalez hurt)
Some changes to the Idaho lineup. We are going to try Raul Silva at 1B. there is little or no reason to believe he can play there but in this lost season its worth a try.
2043 1st round pick, Frank "Coke Boss" Lopez has been recalled. He is a stellar RF and hopefully can gain experience.
The outfield is very strong defensively feature Lopez 10 position ranking, 9 range, 8 error, 9 arm. Girard in CF, 9 position ranking, 9 range, 10 error, 8 arm. Galindo in LF, 10 position ranking, 9 range, 5 error and 10 arm.
for now Idaho will move the terrible defenive platoon at 1B, Antonio Gomez and Jonathan James to share DH duties.
Juan Guevara is now Idahoâs all time strikeout leader with 2691. He passed Idaho all time great Jim Fish who retired in 2041. Fish ended his career at 2686.
Tough sim for 3b Ken Lahoda. He was on pace to crush the Idaho single season hits and triples record, and had a chance to break his own stolen base record of 92, but a strained oblique probably ruins those chances
The Raul Silva experiment at first base may end sooner than later. While he has only committed 1 error in 12 games, his zone rating is -2.8 and his efficiency is an embarrassing .649 - Idaho manager said he will put up with this for the rest of 2048 but if Silva doesnât show some improvement a new plan will be needed at 1B in 2049.
Idaho is calling up 2 long time
Members on the system - left handed relief pitcher Tony Artiaga, a 6th round pick back in 2038 as well as 4th round infielder from the same year Wilson Huerta.
4th rounder pick in 2041, 3b Phil Reider will man that defensive position while Lahoda heals.
None of those players are expected to be on the 2049 opening day roster.
1st round pick catcher Wilson Hernandez spend the season at the IC - he will likely do the same in 2049.
2nd round starting pitcher Alan Marshall started on fire a rookie ball. 2-0 3.52 era. He was promoted to A ball where he had elbow
Ligament surgery. He is out 7-8 more months and his future is very much in question.
3rd rounder starting pitcher Steve Cleveland made 4 starts in rookie ball. He struggled but was promoted due to a shortage at A ball. In 8 starts he posted a 2-3 record with a 4.56 ERA and 0.4 WAR. He has developed a good cutter and is working on a curve and change.
Second 3rd rounder also a start pitcher Hildo Stam. After a solid 3 starts in rookie ball he moved to A ball where he struggled but showed excellent command. In 45 innings he walked 16 and struck out 44. Heâs a leader with a solid fastball, curve and slider.
4th rounds Take Dansen is a catcher who spent the season in the intl complex.
5th round reliever Alfredo Sanchez has a good fastball and knuckle curve. 22 innings at rookie ball 1.99 era with 13k per 9 innings.
7th round pitcher Tim Montes injures his shoulder after 2 poor outings in rookie ball. He is out another 5months
8th round reliever Joe Swanson has excellent stuff but limited movement. He struck out 18 batter per 9 innings at rookie ball and then almost 15 per 9 at A ball. At 21 he is pretty well what he is going to be.
With 3 home runs this sim Raul Silva has now had 5 40 home run seasons.
One month in and both Jose cano and Phil pinto are headed to AAA to figure it out. Idaho is experimenting with 21 year old Dave Harris at first base and Leon rospigliosi is back playing right field. The defense will take a hit but the offense needs a spark.
Idaho is not having a good season. It appears the 20+ year run of 75+ wins is going to come to an end as we sit 11-21.
New 1B Dave Harris 14-42 with a HR and 5 rbi in his first 12 big league games. Defense is still a major challenge for him.
While Jose cano is not happy at AAA he is hitting .378-4-12 in 12 games on the farm.
Cano destroyed AAA pitching and offers better defense at first than Harris who has cooled off on offense. Lots of young kids gonna get a shot in 2049 for a struggling Idaho club.
He is only 21 behind steelhead legend Loren Dobson for the clubs all time lead.
Upcoming milestones for Silva could come next year - he is at 1778 hits so 2000 is in sight, 852 walks so 1000 is reachable in 2050.
In the midst of an abysmal season Idaho is calling up 2044 4th rounder LF-Jorge Ortiz to play LF against left handed pitchers.
The end of an era continues in Idaho. Locally popular 2B Anotnio Morales, a 10 year vet is moving to New York
Morales, a 3 time All Star, 3 time champ leaves Idaho with 1481 hits, 268 doubles, 46 triples, and 124 HR. He has also stolen 276 bases. This year he is 19-0 in steals.
25 year old Jerry Taylor takes over at 2B. He has a good bat and poor glove, so my guess is he is a place holder for 20 year old and 2045 first rounder Ernesto Alvarez.
A crazy 10-23 week with 5 home runs and 8 rbi helped him take the all time Idaho home run lead with 423
In this lost season Idaho is giving 2nd round pick from 2048, Alan Marshall, a couple of late season starts.
Also throwing a bone to former free agent catcher frank russell as a backup. He should make 2-3 starts
Russell a 20 year old who went undefeated has excelled a 3 levels in the minors over the last 2 seasons
Enter 2048 trade acquisition Juan Maldonado as the new closer.
wow - 5-14 in september. Now on the outside looking in. Strange since I brought up some AAA veterans who were leaders and captains. Thinking that they would help the young kids get over the hump. I thought wrong. Now with 18 games left, 2 back and need to hop 2 teams this isn't going to be easy...
2057 season - a quick look ahead
if Lahoda comes back, the 15 year vet will turn 37 early in the new season, he will be chasing 3000 hits (156 away) and 1000 steals (17 short). He is also 5 games short of the club record of 2163. Also 11 doubles shy of the club record 432.
Lahoda does it. Following a 3 weeks shoulder injury 3b Ken Lahoda reached the 1000 steal milestone. He's afblâs first player to reach that mark.
He remains 75 hits short of 3000. It's going to be tough to get there this season.
Lahoda will be short. He sits at 2982. Not sure if he will return for another season. With 3 games left, he figures to end 15 hits short of the milestone.
